Catania/Celtic Preview
By: Gianfranco | September 29th, 2007Carletto has spoken, and he is finally starting to make some sense. The rossoneri need results and they are going to start with Catania. 3 points are imperative for any scudetto chances because the big boys up top keeping taking points from each other, which is great news. Dida will be out of action all week, but I would expect an attacking side against Catania. I would not expect to see Gattuso and Emerson together on the pitch, instead it will be probably a more creative lineup with maybe even a Gourcuff sighting. Ronaldo has yet to recover and my patience is with him is wearing thin, I would expect Silvio’s is as well. Gila will probably get the nod upfront, and if he can get on target I feel the goals will start to come.
As for Celtic this week, I would expect close to the same lineup as Sunday but with Pippo up front, and Kalac still in net. I would not be surprised if Milan call for an Abbiati return in January who has been playing very well in Spain. It may be in their best interest to have Abbiati in full time becuase he has had much success in Serie A and even a bit in the Champions League. Dida looks like a shell of his former self and with team as shaky in the back as it has been, they cannot afford any keeper errors.
Collectively the football has not been terrible but not all that spectacular either. I am glad that Carletto is holding fast to his eleven and not rotating them at such a pivotal time, anyone who has played soccer knows how important it is to find a rhythm on the pitch and I think he is looking for that kind of cohesion. The bottom line is one game at a time, no matter the opponent they just have to get it done.

it would be a good idea to bring abbiati back in the winter, dida’s a lost cause. hes not even worth the 4mil a year he makes anymore.
i hope gilardino scores a goal or three vs. catania; they cant be thaat good…
but its time the boys step up and show their true colors, we’ve lost too many points already. forza milan

What’s Ancelotti going to cry about this game? Milan better win or they will drown in his tears.

abbiati is also prone to dida-esque occasional, ridiculous errors in judgment, so its not the best solution, but it is a temporary fix.. i think we should go after amelia in may… he is good and he will get much better this season coz of all the shot stopping practice he will have playing for livorno’s non-existant defence… think it may be a good buy for us come summer time…
but i highly doubt the wonderfully brilliant minds of galliani and berlusconi would do it coz that would be a good idea, and our transfer strategy is the complete opposite of that…

Well said K, the milan transfer plan consists of the exact opposite of any good rational idea.
