Tuesday Milan Musings
By: Gianfranco | April 8th, 2008Look I hate to criticize a win, but someone has to do it, and why shouldn’t that someone be me. I will start some good points though, Bonera was excellent. He pushed forward and got back and made the most of his chance to play. He should get used to it because he will be seeing more action next weekend against the Old Lady. Personally, I still see him as a CB, but he did well to prove me wrong, his body type really says otherwise no? Ambro continues to poor his heart and soul into every minute on the pitch and I am afraid that if The Don calls him to the Azzuri he will be exhausted.
Pirlo found his form today but it was because he was pushed into the attack, and had far less responsibility in the defensive third. I have said it once and I will say it again, when Pirlo plays positive attacking football Milan wins, plain and simple. No offense to Cagliari but they lacked the ability to dictate the pace and tempo today and that proves lethal for the Rossoneri and made them look very good today. Gourcuff did well with his chances but I still don’t feel comfortable with his lack of true role on the squad. I envision Gourcuff alongside Kaka in the xmas tree, or on the flanks, but his central role seemed OK today. I just don’t see how he can succeed with the shuffle.
My last knock on the game is the lack of sustained play in the second half; an excellent first half was followed by a lackluster second. That won’t fly against Juve who are smarting from a great game against Palermo, the winning goal was cracker and worth a look for any fan. Cafu was nightmarish in the second half and if he does not retire, someone has to make him.
Onto the Fun Stuff…
-Our tifosi brethren on the boot have protested the club for a few reasons. The big ones being the lack of interest from Ol Sil and the rejection of a Sheva return. Berlusconi is pivotal to the success of Milan and when his checkbook is open the Rossoneri are a good team for obvious reasons.

This is the Silvio we need, don’t take no crap from nobody…
It seems to me that Berlu would rather focus on his possible presidency than his team, well Sil it is time to get your priorities straight!
The fans have rejected Sheva, but not for being a turncoat who left for greener pastures, instead they claim that he is old (true) and that he is a waste of non-EU spot. UEFA clubs can only bring on one non-EU player per transfer window and in all honestly he would waste a spot for a bunch of other players, well said tifosi, well said.
-Galliani has said that Milan will focus on the scudetto next season. Well Fester lets get a few things straight, to win the scudetto the squad needs depth, and we don’t have it. To win the scudetto the squad needs stamina, and we don’t have it. To win the scudetto the squad needs quality players, and as the season wears on we are losing that too. He should really stop talking and start acting and fortify this team, we the fans will judge if the scudetto is possible, he should just buy the players.
-Speaking of buying players Milan have spoken about a fullback from Northern Ireland by the name of George McCartney, who is currently playing at West Ham. I will admit he is having a good year, but I would rather Leggrotaglia from Juve, or young Italian back if possible. Remember Zambrotta is supposedly already on his way.
-Juve lost Sunday and it makes next weeks game all that much more interesting, I will have a more on that as the week wears on.

Is it just me or is SAF daring Roma to win with his lineup, and why isnt Spalletti playing two strikers?

SAF is King among jackasses. What a douche. I’m sad that Roma didn’t win, I’m more upset that SAF wasn’t made to eat some humble pie.

Gianfranco I’d say he didn’t play two strikers cause he doesn’t have three strikers. Somehow we haven’t won in Turin in like 6 years? Nothing about Milan or Juve, but how does any team (especially Juve) have that kind of record at home? Not just cause of my bias, it’d be odd if Milan had that against any team.
Nesta, Oddo, and Kaladze are all out, and Channel4 is reporting Jankulovski, Favalli, and Pato are all injured. (True?) I’m looking more and more to this game…

Pato is not injured, but instead just rested. Janks and Favalli I believe are in fact injured, but I will have a bit more towards the end of the week.

Speaking of dreams involving footballer players, usually I look to mine (and I have many, some good, most bad) for a prediction on the upcoming matches. But I don’t really know how to interpret last night’s: I ran around in a forest for a while with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, during which he plucked birds’ eggs out of nests in trees (he’s really tall) and tried to get me to sleep with him (I said no, not because he’s not probably very good in bed, but because he’s Interiste and there are some things a good Milanista just doesn’t do). Then we met up with a bunch of other people and Gabriella Nesta led an attack on a town just outside the forest which, I’m sure, was filled with evil people, or at least Juventini. She was pretty awesome, and hit people over the head with a cricket bat.
So, fellow Milan Offsiders: Does this mean we’re going to win this weekend or not? Should I switch allegiance to the blue side of town so when I have dreams about Ibra I at least get to have dream-sex? Is Gabriella a viable option to replace her husband as center back while he’s suspended? Do you think we could convince UEFA to let her carry a cricket bat onto the pitch? There are some Juve players I think could do with a good whacking.

man, that Barcelona striker, Bojan Krkic is really something, at the same age as Pato, he’s way more mature on the field… but may be that’s just because Pato has just come to Serie A recently?
We’re going to win, not for sure, well, i’m not sure what the result will be anyway, with Ancelotti’s weird analysis tactics and all, but I just feel the need to be positive… WE’LL WIN! I think Ambrosini will score.

funny dreams, really really really funny dreams…

Angharad, not gonna lie, Inter player or not, I’d tap that.

no bonnie! there’s a line we shouldnt cross, especially if they’re players in your position.
well unless you’re dating them just to break their hearts, then point, laugh and mock them while they cry. or in a vulgar way, To F the S**T out of them, of course accompanied by singing Milan chants, preferably Anti-Inter chants lol

I think we may have hit a new low…

I’m staying out of this one!

Oh man, I’m dying laughing here. Fet, I know, it’s horrible, but he’s a guilty pleasure. Everyone has them, that one player from the enemies team they like… (I also like Chiellini from Juve, I think it’s the nose).
Posted from
United States

-

Oh, right, Gianfranco, like you men don’t start talking about the exact same thing when it’s WaG of the Week.
Bonnie, I don’t know, I don’t think I could put aside my loyalty to the rossoneri just because Ibra has a really big… nose.
But I think we’re all missing the point, here: does having a dream about Ibra trying to get into my pants and Gabriella Nesta whaling on some Juventini mean we’re going to win this weekend?
Posted from
United States

-

Angharad, I dont’ think the dream could hurt. I mean, Gabriella Nesta seems like a good person to have on your side, she’d be right scary to piss off. Or… Ibra trying to get in your pants could mean Milan almost score but don’t quite.
(I also think it’s the fact that both players are completely full of themselves, it just makes them very attractive.)

Anghar, if we do win, you will become the dream fortune teller and we will immediately place bets based on your wacky dreams, and we will all profit handsomely on your abilities…Agreed?
I hate to break it to everyone but the Ronaldinho rumors are picking up again fairly heavy…someone get me a scotch.

I think I need something stronger than scotch, Gianfranco. Like an icepick to the eyeballs, maybe.
I’m telling you, just let some of the wives onto the pitch with cricket bats, and the game is ours. But Bonnie, I have to say, I just can’t agree with you on Chiellini. Ibra, yes (were I not rossonera), but for me Chiellini is second in line to get his legs broken by the aforementioned cricket bats. Behind only Pavel Nedved, whom I still haven’t forgiven for the breaking-Figo’s-leg-and-then-being-an-prick-about-it thing.

lol this site is now not eligible for young kids at all.
anyways, back to Milan.
Sheva’s deal is getting closer by the day, the only obstacle was Anceltti’s approval and looks like he got it after the pressure from everyone, bosses, players and media. but the fans are still against it. my personal opinion, we only need 1 striker, Sheva might not be that bad, but he might also be that bad! so its a big risk and Carletto can say later “i told you so!”. why 1 striker? because we already have Paloschi and Pippo on the bench, one would fit, but im hoping that “one” striker is the real deal, the one who will help us get to the top. i honestly think its between Boriello & Sheva. and maybe Drogba but he’s been drifting away recently, he’ll go wherever Mourinho goes to.
i believe the Dinho thing is still a long way, because so far Barcelona havent even discussed it with anyone. his Agent(brother) met with a few clubs, thats his job, but that doesnt mean that Barcelona sent him or asked him to do that, nor does that mean Dinho asked him as well, he just accepted the invitations to have a few meetings and report back. it always happens.
As for now we just have to win every single game, any loss can and will probably cost us the 4th spot.

If it came down to it, I’d rather Sheva than Ronaldinho. He’s less of a risk, we wouldn’t spend nearly as much and we know we can use him. I know it’s not an either/or situation, but if we’re gonna do the one “big” deal this summer, I’d rather it be Sheva. I don’t include Zambrotta or any other defenders as the “big deal”…
We desperately need to beat Juve this weekend. We can count on the Viola dropping at least two points and most likely all three against Inter this weekend, this could be our chance to make up some ground.
Poor children wandering onto this site…

Haha! Bonnie, are you positive we’re not secretly the same person? Same guilty pleasure from the enemy (Ibra just owns everyone and their mom. Can’t help it.), making random predictions about Roma matches that come true…
Guys, I think we have a long ways to go in terms of torturing children until we hit say…the Italy page when its WAG of the Week? Don’t fret yet
Fetyani, I really, really would love if we got two strikers. In terms of reliability/ longevity we have Duckie. And…Duckie. Palo, love him, but too young and inexperienced, we’ve been through the Gila tales, and as much as I love Pippo, he won’t last forever.

LOL @ your dreams.. funny that I had a soccer dream too last night.. Liverpool won the CL 6-0.. and Beckham was playing for Liverpool.. wtf?
If Dinho is not suffering long-term fitness problems, then I want him right about…. NOW. He’s amazing on a good day, and imagine him with Kaka and Pato up in front. Sex much?
And as for the striker, I think we’re gonna end up with Sheva and only Sheva. Galliani said : same coach, same tactics next year. YAY, not.
As the summer transfer window opens, I’m becoming more and more pessimistic about Milan’s signings. I want someone DOING AMAZING.. you know.. like.. Torres or Flamini.. *dream on, me*

I think this whole Sheva, Dinho talk is overshadowing our need to get reinforcements in the back. Zambrotta has a ticket to Milan this summer, but that’s not enough. Nesta, Kaladze, Oddo injured –> Simic, Digao, Favalli, Jankulovski?! How UGLY are those names?!
Posted from
United States

For a full restructuring, I’d get 2 goalkeepers, 4 defenders, 2 defensive mids, 2 attacking mids, 2 strikers..
12 new players and Milan can win EVERYTHING next year!

Frey, Akinfeev (sp?), Kalac
Maldini, Nesta, Kaladze, Oddo, Zambrotta, Barzagli, Zapata, De Silvestri
Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Flamini, (the new Pirlo Chris talks about in his future Italian prospects)
Kaka, Gourcuff, Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Inniesta
Pato, Paloschi, Inzaghi, Sheva, Benzema

Yeah, right.. Let’s invent new league, where 18 players can play at the same time, because i don’t see how will you accommodate ALL of them, especially with CL fanthoming away as for now?
