Thursday Milan Musings, Singing a different Tune

By: Gianfranco | March 27th, 2008

The other day I “gasp” praised Inter for making a very solid move for Ronaldinho. But today I have to change my tune, it appears those bastards are about to pull a Suazo on the Rossoneri all over again. Rumor has it that Drogba is in talks with Inter, and I am pissed off. But before I lost my mind and went irrationaly crazy attempting to destroy all things Inter I reread the article and did some investigative reporting.

First of all the sources of this article were a less than reliable than the Ronaldinho articles, the Dinho articles came from a reputable magazine while the Drogba articles came from the Us Weekly type websites that we all frequent. These are the websites that take simple phrases from Kaka:

“I think Real Madrid are a good team.” and twist it to say “I can not wait to play for Madrid next season after just signing this mega deal, and Serie A can kiss my ass.”

As you can see they are smut mills. It is very possible that Drogba said something to the effect of “I want to play in Milan next season” or “Italy would be a good place to play.” So you can see how words can get twisted round and round.

The only real bit of evidence that would lead Drogba to Inter would be to follow his old flame Jose Mourinho. The problem with that is that the Inter for Mourinho talk has cooled down a TON and its look more and more likely that he will land somewhere in Madrid, your guess is as good as mine…

We all have differing opinions on Drogba, some of us stronger than others but after watching games like the one against Arsenal this weekend, it is hard to deny his talent. The man was a game changer and I can not help but imagine him paired with Pato or Gila in the Rossoneri. He instantly poses a goal threat and creates space for all the forwards around him, excpet for Sheva. People have been raving about Kalou at Chelsea this season and should look no further for a reason than his running Ivorian running mate.

I would like to leave you all with a little video from Fetyani that needed to be shared.

And another version as well…

Guys, i watched the Chelsea match and got to go with Gian, if u have watched our performances recently and then watched the game against Arsenal you couldnt help but wish to see him in Red & Black!

Even if he’s only gona ba at his best for 2-3 yrs i say take him!

By then Pato & Paloschi will have come up abit as well as having learned from playing alongside Drogba!

I have to disagree. Drogba would have to adjust and from everything I’ve seen, he’s not the easiest person to work with. What if he takes the season to get used to Milan, what do we do before he’s ready?

I’d much rather get a striker adapted to Serie A already, have him play well for 2-3 years and the Palo/Pato combo take over after that.

Hey, I’m totally up for a littel debate, I take no offense!

To me, if we’re going to go for a 30 year old striker, I’d rather it be Amauri, depending on the price difference. Wages would be lower, fit in with the Brazilian thing we got going, seems much more willing to adapt to a coaches decision than Drogba.

Amauri is like the poor mans Drogba, they are the same size height and build, but unlike Drogba, Amauri is not a proven International who has scored in huge games. Their is an old saying that is roughly transleted to, “we dont want a guy who will shit his pants in the Champions League.”

lol @ “we dont want a guy who will shit his pants in the Champions League.”

its late friday afternoon here and thats the kinda comment helping me hold on til the end of the day!

Its only when u watch Drogba in a live match that you realise WHAT an influence he can be on the team and result.

Its really akin to Shevs best years at Milan and for that, i’d welcome him with open arms (feel free to bring Mourinho wiv u!).

Cant say that ive seen enough of Amuari this season to feel confident in comparing him to Drogba really.

It’s probably my extreme dislike of the player that’s colouring my view of him but I jsut don’t see him fitting in at Milan. Plus, with reports that he’ll go wherever Mourinho goes, it jsut doesn’t seem like he’ll give his loyalty to Milan properly, he’s too vocal if he’s unhappy.
It’s not that I love Amauri as a player, I just think he’d take less time to adapt. Not gonna lie, I’d rather see David Villa at Milan than almost anyone. He scores in the CL, is a proven International, is loyal to his clubs but is ready to move on from Valencia.

David Villa would be fantastic, but its rare that a player finds success when he goes from Spain to Italy it is usually the other way around. Spain is a finesse league and some guys just are cut out of the rough and tumble of Serie A, I am not saying that Villa wont fit in or adapt, but I worry that he is a bit to vanilla…

On a side note, i view a big mouth like Drogba’s as a postitive thing, as long as its not a distraction, Rino has a big mouth and we love him for it. It is all about what comes that counts…

im not a big fan of Drogba, but if the guy will score and help us, why not. but he is old + the adaptability issue is another thing too. i believe Drogba is gonna go where ever Mourinho heads to.

Today we are linked with Samuel Eto’o. now thats a player ive been wanting us to get so bad. ill do the impossible to sing him, young and very talented. Mourinho is more likely to go to Barca taking Drogba with him, freeing Eto’o for us, maaaybe, cooould be, poossibly!?

some reports are already saying that Milan and Chelsea reached an agreement regarding Sheva, a loan for one year.

Honestly i think we should only get 1 main (SUPER-STAR) striker to play along side Pato. with Gila gone, we have Paloschi and Pippo as back up and thats pretty good. if we get anyone else, we’re just destroying talent.

Im all with getting Zambro, but Barca are letting him go so they can get another younger and better player. so why the hell wont we do that as well!! Dani Alves tops the list, Lahm, Eboue…but if we cant get anyone lets go with Zambro.

Gourcuff said he will discuss his future with Milan in May. i really like him, but i dont think its in anyones interest if he stays, just wasting a good talent. id like to see him as Seedorf successor, but dont know whats Carletto’s plans. another good similar like player is Thiago Neves (young super talented player, look him up on youtube), i hope we can sign him but i doubt it, judging from our transfer guru way of thinking.

Back to this season, which is still a big blur so far. we should take the W against Atalanta. although Gila out with a flu, Kaka out too. looks like we’re going with the 4-3-1-2, with Pato-Paloschi backed by Willy Wonka.

anyone else read Gulit comment on Maldini!!!

that guy is a legend to me, always been a big fan of him. but why did he had to say that about Il Capitano!

“Paolo Maldini is now 40 years old and even too old for the United States, I would rather take home with me Rino Gattuso,”

he also commented about how Milan is too old and need to change + attacked the serie a in general.

Fetyani, I bet those Gullit comments are a product of the Alexi Lalas La Galaxy publicity machine, those guys are whores to the media…

Gullit is a friend of Milan and I would not be surprised if his words were given a negative twist.

But Drogba’s talk is often a lot more harmful than Gattuso’s. Remember earlier this year when he was saying how bad Chelsea’s dressing room was and how much he wanted to leave only to go back on that a week later? Rino may give the team a kick in the pants sometimes but he’s never harmful to the atmosphere like Drogba is.

I know not many Spanish players adapt well, but I think if anyone can do it, it’s Villa. At the same time, I really don’t want him leaving Valencia, but if he’s going to, I’d rather him here than in the EPL.

So Fet, just wondering your views.. if we were to get Sheva on the year-loan, would that be enough for you? Would he be the SuperStar striker we need?

And I think Gourcuff’s gonna go. It makes me sad, but he’s just not getting playing time to learn Seedorf’s role.

It’s true, maybe Gullit just has a big man-crush on Rino and wants an excuse to take him home.

But he has been saying some stupid things of late.

The thing with Sheva is even if we get him he has an expiry date which is so short. we should have a list of strikers in a specific order, based on priority and at the bottom of the list Sheva should be there. he’s basically a temporary striker. i still believe even if we got Sheva or Drogba we should still be looking out for Benzema. will he be good? its hard say, if he still has the same body, stamina, health, etc. he had 3 years ago, maybe he is good enough. i can see the old Sheva back, not all the way but to some extent. our staff should decide on the Sheva signing, not the management.

my list probably goes something like this,
    -Benzema
    -Eto’o
    -Gomez
    -Amauri
    -Drogba
    -Toni
dont know if im missing anyone, but its something like that.

lets not forget that Ronaldo might stay. especially with Sheva, they’ll both rotate roles with Pato playing steady.

lool bonnie, hopefully this season we’ll see more goals. i really like TFC’s fans, definitely the best in MLS. just couple of days ago i was thinking and inquiring about season tickets, but all i could find is people selling them for at least 3-4 times the original price. ill be sticking with my raptors :D cant wait for the playoffs, best sport experience after my Milan Derby.

eto’o is superb ,but i feel the deal is far-fetched and more likely not to happen as much as we want too.benzema is too costly for a 20 year old.i would love it if we get villa or gomez.now villa and gomez wont be playing in europe next year so their deal is more negotiable.

villa would be my first choice, but hes not the type of player we need.

he is a finesse player, and hes not that tall.

he is exactly like pato. and we dont need two pato’s…

thats why the main strikers we are linked with are all hefty target men, something that we’ve been missing since sheva left. and look how much we’ve struggled.

the target man plays between the midfield and defensive lines, the past 2 seasons its been seedorfs job, but we saw how difficult it was without him.

gilardino falls too easily, hes not strong enough. we need a strong target man who can also get his head to the ball. who comes to mind?

    drogba
    amauri
    gomez
    berbatov
    toni

all of those guys would fit into our system perfectly. ive never seen benzema play so i cant judge. but if we can land one of those players, we’ll be up and running…

I personally don’t think Drogba has more than a season of top form left in him. Borriello may not be quite in the same class as Drogba at his peak but he will be cheaper and has proven that he deserves another chance at a big club again.
