Saturday Morning Hangover
By: Gianfranco | February 2nd, 2008Forgive my brevity, spelling, and other problems with this post. I am tired, and a bit busy but need to relay the news of the day.
-Lippi may be the heir to the Carletto throne. The Corriere Dello Sport is reporting that Milan and Carletto will part ways at season’s end and Lippi will step in. If Carletto does leave it will end an era at the San Siro, but may be just what the club is looking for, I always prefer when a coach leaves on his own accord rather than being removed so more power to Carletto. As for Lippi, I would have to say I am not upset nor am I thrilled. As a tactician and innovator he has never done anything special, as a motivator though he seems like the right kind of guy, example WC 06. With a new coach comes new players, new systems, and hopefully new success. Again this is only a report/rumor but it is important everyone has been made aware.
-Kaka is worried that Pato is being put under to much pressure. As many of you may or may not remember Kaka joined the Rossoneri squad relatively quietly and cheap compared to the fanfare for Pato. In turn, Kaka feels that Pato has been put under immense pressure to succeed, I on the otherhand feel that he has been hyped way beyond neccesary and will find it challenging to live up to expecatations. Kaka you can go head and pray for Pato, I say let the kid play and lets make judgements later.
-Gattuso’s injury seems to be of the muscular strain variety, unlike R99 whose injuries are always of the mystery variety. Gattuso should be out around 4 weeks which gets him back in time for the second leg of the Arsenal fixture, I expect Gattuso, who if ready, to be back sooner. Do not expect to see him in any game other than the first leg of the Arsenal match if he is ready. Better to be safe than sorry, his absence may prove problematic in Serie A but thats why Milan has a bench filled with superstars ready to step in for the ailing teamate…Emerson anyone? Hopefully Carletto goes with Brocchi who just seems to want it more game in and game out.
-We may actually be rid of Ronaldinho rumors after all, there is a lot of talk that Dinho will be go to Chelsea at seasons end. SO HAPPY. This means that Chelsea will have to go into some form of flux releasing the likes of Drogba and maybe even Essien!?!? Oh the possibilities. Either way it means the Rossoneri do not have to buy him and Inter does not either, it opens the door for more realistic transfers.
See you all Sunday after the Purple v. Red/Black (probably White).

Gianfranco, on my way out so please forgive the short response.
1. Lippi- hmm, cant say im great fan, (suspect he still bleeds black & white if u know what i mean). Personally i believe that Mourhino would help give Milan a vice like grip on Europe as well as Serie A. Im still pinning my hopes on him.
2. Agree with regards to the Pato situation, keep playing him week in week out alongside Kaka, Big Ron, Gila and Super Pips and he will sharpen up. He’s been doing ok so far.
3. Been depressed since i heard Rinos injury news, once again the lack of depth in the squad is exposed, but agree on choosing Brocchi over Emerson (but even then both fail miserably in filling in for Rino). Bit worried going up against Arsenal now, as he’s the kind of player that we would have really counted on.
4. Already said that Dino aint a priority whilst we have Kaka, but like the idea of adding Drogba and Essien to the squad, would be even sweeter and likely if we have Mourinho in charge!!!

gattuso and essien in one lineup. thats just disgusting. and sick. add pirlo to that mix, impenetrable.
i still remember an interview with brocchi less than a year ago, he was claiming that we won 2 champions leagues because he was on the team and lost that one in istanbul because he wasnt there. aaah the audacity…
i would take lippi over any other coach in a heartbeat. mourinho would stifle kaka’ and pirlo, and most of our creative players. he absolutely sucks in terms of beautiful football. lippi on the other hand is a showcase of a coach who utilizes all of his players’ potential to their best. you just have to watch italy mature over the course of the world cup to eventual champions.
lets hope lippi gets the spot, he knows how to get the best out of his players. mourinho brings too much spotlight.
in other news, KALAC will be starting over dida tomorrow vs. fiorentina! carlo finally pulled the plug. cheers carlo!!

I’ll only accept 3 coaches to replace Careltto, either Lippi, who is a great tactician and can get the best out of any squad. Mourinho, apparently he’s “the special one”. and last coach which i doubt will happen, but you can always dream, is Sacchi, he mentioned couple of times that he’d like to come back to Milan. and when Milan won the world club cup, the cameras didnt show it, Sacchi burst into tears, he still a hardcore Milanista.
I believe in Pato, but like what Kaka said, people should lay off him. Let Dinho go wherever, i want Benzema.
as for the Milan formation tomorrow, looks like the damned christmas tree WITH!!! Gila upfront. i dont believe in the christmas tree anymore, im done with it. Kalac will take Dida’s place *in Nelson’s voice from The Simpsons* HAA HAAA

I want Lippi or like fetyani said Sacchi.
When Pato plays with Gila…Pato works harder going from side to side going down because gilardino doesn’t do jack diddely…But while playing with Ronaldo they both change positions one goes to one side and the other to the other side and then they switch and Kaka is able to sneak in the middel of the two but with Gila he’s not able to because gila sits still and doesn’t move he waits for the ball to come to him. I want Benzema and amauri.
Damn Christmas tree Carletto its after christmas it’s time to throw out the damn tree!!!

Avia, I do not think Emerson and Brocchi combined equal one Rino. Ro did you change your name to Rockin?

I want Ancelotti. He should be allowed to make a dynasty like Ferguson at Man U.
But if he has to go then please anyone but Mourinho to replace him. Milan is about style. All Mourinho teams are drudgerous bore-fests.

Hmm, sense some reservations with regards to Mourinho being at the helm. The main benefit imo would be a rock solid defense that would be installed under the “Special One” and once we have a strange hold on Serie A and the CL THEN and only then would i be willing to entertain arguments on styles of play.
Under Capello we ruled Europe and he was considered a coach who employed a defensive style of play who stifled creative players and we B***h slapped Barca 4-0 in the CL final of ‘94 under him!
Oh how i long to “suffer” under similar circumstances!

Sacchi is a no chance, I like Mourinho but at the cost of good football. I always ask myself would you rather win ugly or lose pretty and I always have a different answer. If you want any chance at good football Lippi is your man, but there is a dark horse than everyone forgets and that is Frankie Rijkaard, but the Milan brass love and tend to have the most success with Italian coaches so never rule out Lippi.

Yeah that was me…sorry I have so many different names I forgot and just automatically wrote Rockin_Ro instead of just Ro. All fixed though.
The Viola reportedly aren’t ruling out a switch for Gila with Frey so lets pray to the high heavens that things get rolling Gila goes to the viola and we get a good #1…but apparently old Carletto had a row with butter fingers dida about an injury so…Kalac could be taking over for the rest of the season HOPEFULLY!!!

Capello turned to his defensive, pragmatic roots later in his coaching career, Mardrid mach 1 and beyond. At Milan in the early 90’s, the team was the most dynamic club side ever to grace the field.
It was a side that could destroy teams, open any defense and still shut down opponents when required. The statistics speak volumes for that period. I remember they beat teams, with scores of 8-2, 7-something, 5-0, 6-something in the space of months in ‘92. The Sacchi teams produced some great football and Capello’s were an extension and evolution of that.
Mourinho is incapable(on empirical evidence thus far available) of such dynamism. He just packs the defense, gets everyone to tackle hard, do a lot of tracking and rely on some quick attackers with enough skill to get the minimum goals required. This does not fit in well with the Milan philosophy we have come to love.
The old Milanista at the helm of Barca is an acceptable alternative but for me winning a scudetti, and two and a half CLs , having the best record in the CL of any club in the last decade is enough from Ancelotti, especially given the style of play he has instilled over the years. Milan at their best are fantastic in the true sense of the word. Even not winning, they play some good footy which more than can be said of most sides.

I think it is important to mention that this is not a firing or release of Carletto, if he does go, but more of a parting ways so that he can try something new, or maybe coach the national team after the euro’s when the Don will either leave (a victory) or be fired (a loss).

guys do you really want to win so desperately that u dont want good football

uh….weigh the options sushan…what’s the point of watching spectacular footy if you don’t win? It’s not really worth it is it?

You guys can have Mourinho if Lippi returns to us…that’d be some real competition. Serie A is all about Juve v. Milan, not this bullshit Inter stuff.
Oh by the way, did anyone see the Gazzetta report that says Juventus and Milan are among the top 3 in most-penalized by incorrect refereeing decisions? Shocker, Inter is not. I think the report said, conservatively, Milan should have 9 more points and Juve should have 8 more. Reggina was the other team screwed.
