Probable Italy lineup?
By: Matthew | February 7th, 2007
So with the cancellation of the Italy and Romania friendly I wanna know what you guys think who would’ve been called up to Italy. Would have we seen any surprises? I heard that a 23-year-old Siena defender named Christian Molinaro would have been called up if the game wasn’t cancelled. I’ve never heard of him before and seriously haven’t been wacthing much Siena matches lately. Is he any good? And who else would have been called up? I wanna know all of your opinions!

22 year old Rosina from Torino is a beast. He’s like a young Zidane. If I was Donadoni I would start him.

I agree, if the game wasn’t cancelled, Rosina would’ve definitely got his debut. He is amazing and right now carrying Torino. Wat bout Montolivo? He’s dubbed the “next Totti” and is a very good playmaker with great vision. I think Donadoni should call up a bunch of the U21s just so they can get their senior Azzurri experience. Georgio Chiellini anyone?

Georgio will take Zambrottas’ position when he’s gone. Did you see that gaol he did playing Spain? he might be captain of Italy in the future.

Ya i agree. Chiellini is still playing for the U21 team but he has earned a respectable amount of caps(six) for a young player. I think he might be one of Italy’s next superstars because he is a good defender who can add to the attack and score beautiful goals just like he did against the U21 Spain. I also think Aquilani or Montolivo will be key players in the future.
Italy should just have a friendly with a random country anyway just to try out and debut thier young stars. A mix of key veterans like Zambrotta, Buffon, etc. can make these youngsters even better when they train and play together.
