Oh Boy, Galliani’s Going Shopping
By: Gianfranco | February 22nd, 2008Galliani has done it again. He has opened his mouth about potential transfer targets which has in the past done one of two things, amounted to absolutely nothing or left with the terrible thoughts of what could have been. As we all now though I am sucker and quite the optimist so when Fester opens his mouth I listen and then have to open mine and write it all down.
We are all in agreement that Milan need forward help, if any of you can argue against this you are nuts. Pato, Gila, and Pippo need help in a bad way, and what is worse is the help cannot come soon enough. Galliani’s targets are astronimcal but all worth mentioning and discussing. His shortlist, Drogba, Adebayor, Sheva, and Benzema, I on the other hand have a much more reasonable list: Drogba, Benzema, Amauri and Toni. I will not waste my time with Adebayor because Wenger will not let him go, and Sheva would have to crawl back here for me to take him back, so let us discuss the rest.
Before I list them and give a blurb on plus minuses I want to bring up a few things. First and foremost Milan is in possession of two holding type strikers. Pato and Gila are much different than Inzaghi. In my eyes there are two types of forwards Strikers and what I like to call poachers. Because Pato and Gila will most likely be involved in the squad for the time being we should definitely be in the market for an out and out poacher.

Drogba (poacher): I love the guy, and nothing you can say will change that. End of story, my Milan Drogba jersey is ready to be ordered when ever Berlu decides to ink the deal.
Benzema (striker): I like this kid; hell his goal against ManU was very nice.
But unless Carletto or whoever is in charge is going to slot him on the wing, he just does not fit the puzzle. Plus there is nothing worse than two Frenchman stewing on the bench. Thanks but not thanks Karim, just make sure you go to the EPL and not Inter…

Amauri (poacher): I like Amauri because even though he knows how to poach goals he can really work well up front and hold up attacks. He is also a Drogba-type striker who brings size, strength, and skill to the table. He is also unsettled at Palermo and would come cheap, and he also fulfills Berlu’s lust for a “Brazilian Trident.”
Toni (poacher): To me Luca Toni, or Toni Luca as my girlfriend calls him, is the second coming of Vieri except more talented and less cocky. The real reason this man went to Germany was the money, and as a World Champ he should have been a disgraced that Serie A teams were not throwing money at him by the case load. Toni was not the only Italian to leave Serie A, and many of them have kept no secret that they want to come back. A Zambrotta, Toni reunion would be nice.

A few things to discuss…
Ronaldo says his heart says yes and his body says no and does not know if he can return. I have said it before, and it may sound harsh but Milan has to move on. If if he comes back, what can we expect? Not all that much.
The Rossoneri’s home record in the CL is as follows 39-9-9, I am not a numbers man and not much for bets, but those numbers do a lot of the talking for me.
Hope this video brings some smiles; I will be back Sunday for a Milan-Palermo post for our game discussions.

hey the guy i would love to see put on the red and black would be roque santa cruz from blackburn i think he is very underrated his great heading ability. i agree with you about benzema and plus lyon are known to make things difficult with their transfers, the starting bid will be around 27 million euros. I am not too sure about zambro though he is 31 we need younger players say how about danny alves.

yeh, i agree with Ranjeet. Also i think Benzema would be better for a long term thing, maybe not what we really need now.

At 3:05 looks like carletto could use an antacid looks like he might have some indigestion.
And people didn’t believe in us…HA!!! Take that and stuff it where the sun don’t shine!!!

I was thinking dani alaves, jesus navas and benzema.

I want Toni and Zambrotta at Milan .

Ivan I think Santa Cruz is great too, but he seems to be so far off of Milan’s radar. That guy is top club talent playing in the second tier.

Santa Cruz is good at heading, but Milan dont play a formation with out and out wingers. Gilardino is good at heading but he hardly scores any during the season. We need someone who has strength(Drogba)and can complement Kaka and Pato.

From http://www.soccernet.com:
Wenger calls for lifetime ban for Taylor
——————————————————————————–
Livid Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger called for Birmingham defender Martin Taylor to be banned for life after his horror tackle left Eduardo da Silva with a broken leg.Eduardo was taken to hospital following the sickening challenge just three minutes into Saturday afternoon’s Premier League game at St Andrews which finished 2-2.
Taylor was said to be ‘distraught’ at the incident, with Blues boss Alex McLeish insisting the defender had no intention of hurting his opponent.
But Wenger was having none of it.
‘This guy should never play football again,’ he fumed. ‘What is he doing on the football pitch?
‘I’ve gone along with the idea for a long time that to stop Arsenal, you have to kick Arsenal. I knew that was coming for a long time now.’
Of Eduardo’s injury, Wenger added on Sky Sports: ‘His injury is very, very bad.
‘More than the season is over.’
Blues boss Alex McLeish said of the challenge: ‘Martin’s distraught about the lad’s injury.’
‘It’s certainly not in Martin Taylor’s make-up at all to commit a malicious tackle.’
McLeish applauded his players’ never-say-die attitude after James McFadden’s last-gasp penalty salvaged a point for Birmingham.
Despite Taylor’s early dismissal, the 10 men led at half-time thanks to McFadden’s free-kick.
Arsenal made the extra man tell after the restart, Theo Walcott scoring his first Premier League goals with a brace.
The leaders looked like going eight points clear of Manchester United temporarily but Gael Clichy’s rash stoppage-time challenge on Stuart Parnaby - in which he appeared to get the ball - handed McFadden his second from the spot.
‘The players’ commitment was fantastic,’ McLeish said.
‘Taking the lead was probably unexpected but what a great goal it was.
‘We looked comfortable up to half-time.
‘We probably got a wee bit casual. I thought it’s going to be a long second half.
‘We were prepared to lose it by a heavier margin but boldness, I think, got us a point.’
Scotland forward McFadden, who admitted he had been ‘nervous’ stepping up for the penalty, said: ‘When they got the two goals, it looked as if we were out the game but we fought back and showed great spirit.
‘We need to start winning but a draw like that’s better than a win.’
On the injury to Eduardo, McFadden added: ‘I’ve not seen the tackle but it was a terrible injury. I’ve seen his leg and it didn’t look too clever.
‘You just have to get on with it at times when things like that happen.’

Absolutely tragic, that was. This just hasn’t been a very good month for either of our teams, has it? Hoping that Eduardo recovers fully and swiftly.

I personally believe it should be, 1-Benzema, 2-Toni, 3-Drogba, 4-Adebayor, 5-Sheva. and sadly i also think we’ll only get Sheva. it wont be easy to get anyone else.
We should do whatever it takes to get Benzema. He’s 20 years old, played 14 games scored 16 goals. Him, Pato & Paloschi are the future. All 3 very talented players who are being taught and mentored by players and coaches with great experience.
Or we will have the same scenario as the last couple of seasons. we start the transfer market with our eyes on the best and biggest players in the world. Then when uncle Fester realizes that we cant get anyone, he then announces that we actually dont need anyone and he’ll just mention Pato & Paloschi until the transfer market is over.
Id pay big for Benzema, but only him. But lets not forget we also need to reinforce our defense. Dani Alves is just great, but wont leave for cheap, Sevilla’s president is hard headed and there’s many competition. Even though Kalac has been fantastic lately, should we still get Amelia?! its a tough one. But with a trio, Pato-Benzema & Kaka, we’ll be deadly. Be-Pa-Ka lol. Berlu, please splash some of your cash on this French kid.

Yeh fetyani, i agree with you completely. Except i dont think the same about amelia, I think Kalac should definatelly stay but maybe dida for Amelia as a sub?

I think we should take two instead, one is Benzema, and the other is whoever experienced guy-over-30, we need them to help teach Benzema one thing or two about striking.
I prefer Toni or Shevchenko to be the guy-over-30, I know it sucks that Sheva left, but let’s get over it, he knows many great way to strike ball, and Benzema would be better if tutored by him or Toni for that matter (as an added bonus, Gilardino and Pato will learn a lot too! Isn’t it great?). As for Drogba, I don’t think he’s the tutor type of person… so there.

Drogba doesn’t have to tutor anyone he just has to score, and if Milan can save cash on a goalie and bring back Abbiatti I am OK with that too. As I said earlier I like Benzema a ton but he does not fit the system, i just do not see how he can prove all that helpful.

benzema is very versatile if u ask me.he’s got everything if u watch the ligue 1 matches and his technique is more superior to drogba.drogba’s 31 and he has maybe 2 solid years left .so it really wont be value for money(romans asking 35 u know).benzema is 21 and seems so good now that i shudder to think what he will be in a few years.we need fast pacy strikers to break defences and benzema is the best option for milan
the number one priority for gallianiPosted from

Ditto - Sushans comments on Benzema, but he did recently reaffrim his commitment to Lyon saying that it is highly unlikely that he will move at the end of the season (dont they all say that? lol) and also waxed lyrical about how he’d love to play at Barca! But nothing would please me more than to see him in red & black at the start of nxt season. Still replayig his goal against Man Utd in my head! Pure class!
With regards to Drogba, one of the reoccuring arguments against signing him are his age, well, i see the point , but look at Pippo! The same comments were made when he came over from the Grande Old Lady and im still glad we snagged him (although, up until then, i used to call him a Poaching son of a B***h!) i dare anyone to argue against Super Pips contribution to Milan since his arrival and if Drogba can contribute half, why we arguing for?
What the recent Arsenal - Milan match showed was that we need an already proven product, dont get me wrong, Pato & Paloschi are both excellent prospects to have in the squad, but they have a number of seasons to go before they reach Dorgba/Benzemas level. I mean, what was the differnce to our attack when Pato was replaced by Gila?? (Xmas tree, i know) but the threat level to Arsenals defence was the same (if not less!) with Gilas arrival.
Sheva is a romantic dream really, and im a romantic! Who wouldnt love to see him back? I was depressed for weeks after he left, but i’m over it, everyone else should do the same. Sorry guys.
It would be like taking back your ex………….it just wouldnt be the same…sniff.

Another rumor surfaced yesterday, that if Carletto doesnt make it to the CL semi-final we’re getting Lippi. Well thats a tough one, Lippi is a great coach and even if Carletto leaves he’ll still be a legend in Milan. On one hand, some change could be good for us, especially on Lippi’s hands. But for some reason, i want Carletto to stay, he is our guy, after all you must stay behind a guy who said “Will I leave Milan? I’ll chain myself to the gates!”
Galliani rubbished these rumors saying he’ll stay no matter what.
Today’s game probably formation according to La Gazzetta. Kalac; Oddo, Bonera, Kaladza, Janko; Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambro; Kaka; Gila, Pato.

We have to get Boriello back. He just scored a hatrick, and is joint top scorer in the league. What the fuck is going on??????
Next season- Drogba/Benzema/Amauri/Sheva,Pato,Pippo,Paloschi,Boriello. Gila and Ronnie can leave.Posted from

Ranjeet I am all for a Borriello return as well, hes a monster.

Fetyani, I hope the rumors isn’t right, I hope Galliani stay true to that word he said and I hope for Ancelotti to stay for at least another season to prove himself, he’s got good thing going with the squad, he just need some more cash and less advice/intervention from Galliani to make a better squad.
