Hey Jose, Just Sue Me Already
By: Gianfranco | June 20th, 2007Channel 4 Football Italia is reporting that Chelsea and company are considering legal action against media outlets over the Shevchenko back to Milan rumors. This is a bit ridiculous; think of the repercussions. I myself am a little bit worried because I have reported on those rumors, but I have not made a dime off them (I will leave my address if you want to send money for my blogging) so sue away Jose. Be afraid fellow offside.com bloggers.
Imagine if every team could sue over transfer rumors, the entire months after the transfer window would be filled with frivolous law suits with guys like Morratti spending more time in court than in Argentina recruiting new Interistas. Its time to take this one like a man Mourinho, to think I had a shred of respect for you at one point.

It seems like there’s a bit of confusion about the threat of lawsuits. The way I understood it, Mourinho is threatening to sue papers that made specific claims about Sheva and his agents having specific meetings on specific dates, which were entirely made up and frankly, are kind of sue-worthy. Claiming someone did and said something when they weren’t even in the same country as you claimed they were, at best, makes them terrible newspapers and at worst is illegal. Bloggers are quite safe from Jose.

problem with C4 is that they make up quotes. Unlike many other news outlets, they don’t have a single reporter that go out to do an interview, yet they make up stories, some based on other sources and some from none, only citing it as “news from peninsula” or “various reports says”.
