5 Reasons Kaka should be transferred
By: Gianfranco | September 25th, 20071. Money: The amount cash that Real Madrid is presumably willing to spend could easily be invested in a myriad of other needs at the San Siro. Most importantly a striker, once that need has been covered then the brass can focus on defenders under 30 and a goalie who has the confidence to catch the ball in mid-air. I vote for a one Didier Drogba to join the team; he has the Serie A build (see #2) and was a Mourinho man. If Mourinho goes to Inter, we need to make sure Drogba comes here. If Drogba falls through, Milan can then return focus on Eto or the other cast of transfer characters, with a decent amount of financial backing on the offer.
2. Toughness: Kaka is not cut for the physical demands of Serie A, Serie is very much akin to the EPL where only the strong survive. Kaka spends a lot of time on his rear, which at times is very beneficial because it gives Pirlo a chance on goal, but the majority of his Serie A goals come off PK’s. His style works wonders in the Champions League, where the game is freer flowing and the players more talented. Stack him up against a second rate thug defender from the Serie A cellar, and then you have a problem. It is a miracle he has not been badly injured yet.
3. Hot Sell: If Kaka was a stock he is pretty high right now, better to sell than on he downward spiral. I am not suggesting a downward for spiral, but his form at this point is not all that hot and I much rather get maximum cash, again from Real, than them saying well he was good last season.
4. System: I personally believe that Milan is need of a midfield readjustment. Pirlo’s creativity is at times limited to the defensive half of the field because of the Carletto Xmas tree formation. Without Kaka, Pirlo could assume that high midfielder role, while a player like Ambrosini or Emerson, hang down in front of the defense. This will also free up space for players like Gourcuff who gain nothing sitting on the bench game in and game out.
5. “The Kaka Effect”: I may get bitched out for this, but my theory regarding the striker’s inconsistency has to do with Kaka. Kaka plays a role that is almost purely unique to his style of play. Bear with me here, he plays a bit higher than Ronaldinho and bit lower than Totti. Ronaldinho is a distributing creative force, and Totti is a goal-poaching monster in and around the goal box, Kaka is a lost in a space where he neither passes to the strikers or scores game in and game out in the box. Because of his presence players like Seedorf, Gattuso, and Pirlo look to feed Kaka, who then proceeds to attack the goal instead of dish to the strikers. Kaka needs to either be retreated or pushed forward but I am beginning to believe he can do neither.
As always your thoughts on such a hot topic are welcomed.

Kaka is incredible, so is his price tag though… tough call but let him win you a few more Champions Leagues first.

“Totti is a goal-poaching monster in and around the goal box”…that pretty much sums it up

Yes Corbin, Totti is everything that Kaka is not.

I’d build around Kaka rather than exporting him out. Pirlo, though I love him, won’t be very effective in two years time I don’t guess while Kaka has at least six to eight very productive years ahead of him. (I can’t research ages right now so I may be way off base.)
Milan need a striker, some youth in the back and new netminder. They have the resources to do that without selling your #1 asset.

Very interesting. I see you have grown just as frustrated as I am with Kaka at late

Joe, Kaka is 25 and Pirlo is 28, so you can possibly get 5 more good years from Pirlo and 8 from Kaka. I just do not feel that Kaka will maintain effectiveness with the incessant fouls he receives in Serie A.

i wouldnt sell him no matter what!
who could we bring!!? we tried to get the best in the world this summer but everyone seemed to be hanging with their clubs. Kaka belongs to us and i hope will always belong to Milan.
Let the big guy up there (Berlusconi)splash some of his cash + keep Kaka.

When Shevchenko left Milan, I was not in the least perturbed by his move. Being a Milan fan for almost two decades, I realize that no player is bigger than the club. Not one player. I apply the same principle to Kaka. No doubt, he’s wanted by the big guns in football today. Since his arrival in 2003 up to last season, he has scored 60 goals for Milan - 39 in Serie A and 21 in the Champions League - and this is despite playing in a “lost in a space” position. So, if he has to be transferred, for the moment, I can only say it must be for reasons #1 and #3, and not the others.

gianfranco, you’ve been brainwashed! this article is heresy!
seedorf is more inconsistent than kaka’, and gourcuff has proved that he cannot be force with pirlo on the field (aka he is incompatible with pirlo)!!!
just because he hasnt exploded in the beginning of the season doesnt mean hes lost his skills, just give him some time to find his form, which i already think is upto standard but will only get better, and you will see how important kaka’ is for us!
we score alot of vital goals of counter-attacks, taking out kaka’ would be like taking our 90% of our counter-attacks!!
kaka’ is a vital cog in the milan machinery, it would be suicidal to let such a valuable player leave!
and milan is not a club that is run like a business (eg, juventus and barcelona). we have never sold a player for the money he can bring us. milan has always been a loyal club to its players, money is not an issue for us. we are milan, we are more loyal to the players than they are to milan…

Kaka is an amazing player and has the ability to do the unexpected whenever he pleases!
just wait for Ronaldo to come back and partner gila up front, with Kaka behind them he will be lethal!

dont agree much with that gianfranco.. maybe the first point.. yeah we would get a lot of money, but hell we got a lot of money from the champions league win and sheva sale and we did absolutely nothing with it… so having all that money would be useful if we actually did something with it..
as to toughness, you said you wanted eto’o, well this guy was out for half of last year and now is out for two months again(and he plays in liga), im dont know more about his history but that does not sound like a player ready for serie a style tough tackling… moreover, kaka, has been playing in serie a for 5 years and has been doing quite well, (injury wise) so he does sound more ready for the tough tackling..
I think point 5 goes directly with your point (and well every milan fan’s point) of us needing a striker… kaka can really do both, that is play behind the striker to get those balls in or play in the box to score a boat load of goals… but it is ancelotti’s christmas tree system that doesnt allow him to do either really… he can play in either position but its ancelotti that plays him in that striker, attacking midfielder limbo position… how else does one explain that at times galliani and ancelotti refer to him as a striker and at times he is an attacking midfielder.. he will stop being in that limbo as soon as they stop placing him there…
as to selling him, absolutely not!
ps. i wouldnt want drogba, unless there arent any other options like huntelaar, we need some one young, not another 30 year old striker..Posted from

Counter arguments going backwards:
5. The reason Kaka is stranded in no man’s land is because of the lack of strikers, back when Sheva and Crespo were in the team Kaka flourished in the playmaker role. Now he is asked to be both playmaker and striker, most teams pick up on this and cut him down.
4. Pirlo struggled as an attacking midfielder, it was only after his move deeper into midfield that he has come to be regarded as one of the worlds best players. Gourcuff is still very young and I think is being groomed to take Seedorf’s place.
3. Kaka is the only player in the Milan starting line up who has the potential to improve. Players reach their peak at 28-30 when the have the experience and the understanding but still retain a high level of fitness. Beyond that age the body starts to slow down noticably. Some players don’t need pace but injuries pile up aswell. Everyone in the starting line up bar Kaka is already in or over this age bracket. We need the young players.
2. C.Ronaldo (you can pick what the C stands for) is killing it over in England and has a similar build/style. A good striker might take some of the attention off him. It’s a problem but not a serious one, especially when Pirlo is there to take the resulting free kick.
1. Money, because the money from Sheva’s sale was spent so wisely. I’d rather have a player I know is world class then gamble on whatever crap the milan brass think is the flavour of the month.

The first comments made by tort hit the nail on the head…but I will add some thoughts of my own.
We don’t need the money to pick up new players as management hasn’t & doesn’t really spend. They have made a ton of money the past three years…they just don’t really spend BIG bucks on players. So I don’t know why you think any money made by selling KAKA would go to buy other players. Milan management buys when THEY feel like.
Also I agree KAKA is marked very tightly and without a legitimate scoring threat it’s easy to focus on KAKA & watch the rest of the team suffer. I think KAKA pushes forward as a result of our forwards not scoring…because when Sheva was here there was no problem. (A creative forward is desperately needed)
KAKA is young 25yrs old. To sell him now so that he could haunt us for the next 5 or 6 years is waaaay too much of a risk. (and he would)
The team can’t keep up with him.
One really good creative mid-fielder & a creative forward will see KAKA create havoc against other teams.

Big Dawg, I see the need for a creative forward very much, but another creative midfielder?

i think the next striker we MUST buy is huntelaar from ajax. his stats speak volumes by themselves. he also has an amazing record in the champions league. and hes also gone out and said that this season might be his last at ajax.
i could see him perfectly fitting at milan.
regarding our christmas tree system, we have no choice. we only have 2 fit strikers. we cannot take a massive gamble and start both of them at the same time, its too risky.
carlo knows this, he pointed it out that at this point (with ronaldo injured), a one striker system is our only option. we shouldve atleast kept borriello until december; this was terrible management on galliani’s part… stupid bald motherf…

kaka has 3 goals in 5 games, better than most of our other players. Totti is a striker, Kaka is a mid. Can’t really compare them.
and thats all.

are u joking? Selling Kaka will never happen under Berlusconi thankgod. What Milan need’s right now is a small injection of youth for the future beyond this year, and a bit of luck. Gilaridno in partucular is played wonderful triangles and build ups with kaka and seedorf, that is allwoing milan to dominate possesion and create attacks, howver he is unluck and misfortunate in front of gol. For those of you that want very young players at the club this has generally not been the policy (excluding pato and youth team products) Milan tends to buy players within the 25 - 29 age groups, with significant international experience or serie A experience. therefore future transfers that i would target would be: Amelia, Barzagli, Felipe and Cigarini.
I would also take a punt on Cassano if he manages to find his amazing talent once more . We dont need ronaldinho, he looks like he has lost his magic and his more interested in nike propaganda, just a few select transfers.Posted from

David a few season ago you could have put Sheva’s name in place of Kaka as Silvio golden boys, and look what happened there. He sold the godfather of his son…

sheva wanted to leave… berlusconi obviously never wanted to sell him.. which is made even more glaringly obvious, when he still talks about having him back…
and i think looking at sheva, kaka would be dissuaded from making a move…
on a side note, gianfranco, is this what you actually believe or its more of a hypothetical, if kaka HAD to go, these are 5 reasons we should sell him?! that being said, i dont think there is any reason that he will ever have to go… or i hope so..

K I would consider this more of a justification if he was sold. Desperate times do call for desperate measures so good results are a must in the upcoming fixtures. If not their will be more changes than just Kaka.

Kaka is a vital role in Milan’s style of play. He can basically out run anyone. When he gets that ball in midfield and takes of running theirs no stopping him…unless someone is attacking his ankles like poulsen (sp?) from sevilla. It’s not his fault where Anco puts him in the stupid christmas tree formation. If he would abandon that formation I bet we would do a lot better. It’s after christmas Anco its time to take the christmas tree out to the curb. Anyways we just need to get a new goalie and a few youngins in the defense and someone to change out the midfield so the players don’t start dragging their tounges like last year. And I hate to say it but if anyone should leave it should be gila he’s really done nothing absoultely nothing he’ll score what one good goal every 4 months if that…he was a waste of money if you ask me. If he doesn’t start doing anything he should leave.

KAKA MUST STAY.He is way too good and fits Milan perfectly.Gilardino MUST GO.A striker without luck is worthless. He needs to leave. For strikers,Huntelaar & Berbatov are good & Drogba & Sheva maybe but we’ve seen how DD can poison his side and Sheva may have lost his edge 4ever.In the back we need Amelia or Boruc & I’d like Zambrotta (even thoh he’s ex-Juve) and Skrtl from Pool who’s young & full of potential. VanDerVaart isn’t bad either.WOW this post is kinda long sorry.

I’m wondering is Kaka messed with the girlfriend of the author of this article. To find (alleged) reasons to sell one of the top two players in the world can only be due to personal reasons.
Hint: The problem’s the REST OF THE TEAM.

Gian this is crazy kaka is the new van basten of milan only a career threatning injury like van should cause him to hang up his rossoneri jersey! he is the best thing that has happened to this team in years in a few others then it will be pato. gallliani now the new president can only sell him if he had been put under a spell by inters morrati cause i now he wants our champion too. bottomline KAKA’S GOING NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 and gattuso.
Ancelloti has also backed up this in his press conference just a few hours ago on acmilan.com.Posted from
