Tuesday Milan Musings, Coco Calls Milan
By: Gianfranco | October 30th, 2007Former Milan golden boy, Francesco Coco, would like to return to football, and more importantly to Milan. Talking about a player like Coco, is basically talking about a player with tons of upside, but very little determination to use it. (Cassano anyone??) Coco has earned 17 Azzuri caps and has played his fair share of meaningful games at his various clubs. At this point is he worth a shot, YES! He is 30, which is like 5 years younger than the average age of the Rossoneri defense, he will cost little to nothing to bring on board, his risk factor is very low, and he has to be better than Ricky Kaka’s brother, Digao, who rumor has it is god-awful. I hope the brass give it whirl, it makes sense and has no real downside. I know a few Milanista wouldn’t mind seeing this again

or his very talented girlfriend(s)

On a side note good ol’Sil has given his suggestion for why Milan is not good this season,
“Rather than have the players come to Milanello for training, they should go home and get some sleep.”
In normal human terms this basically translates to, “My team is real old and we cannot possibly keep playing all these games and expect to Cafu to still be able to walk when its all over, and someone please find me some more over the hill Brazilians so we can make it through the World Club Cup.”

I just read Coco’s statement a few minutes ago. I’m not too sure if he’s still the same Coco that we knew, whom I consider more of a wing-back than a pure fullback. I liked the fellow in his first two seasons at Milan but after that (and when he left), it’s been downhill for him. If Milan’s sanity slips by taking him in, I’m afraid he’ll take us all down with him this season.
In saying that, however, at the moment I do not have anyone in mind when it comes to defenders (or players in any position, for that matter). Looking at Milan’s results hitherto have made me gone blur. Same feeling that I had about the team 10 years ago.
I liked Boban’s comment about Milan, the need for the team to do big signings and I think he is right to say that Pato is not our solution this season. You mentioned Cassano and I am surprised that Milan didn’t work harder to obtain his services. I like Cassano despite what he’s done or what people have said about him.
And lastly, with his enlightening comment, Berlusconi has confirmed his senility.

This really will solve nothing. Milan don’t need another defender. While it wouldn’t hurt to decrease the age back there, what we need is goals and strikers. plain and simple.

5-0 win: If they keep continuing providing such Jekyll & Hyde results, it’ll probably kill me by the end of the season!
