i think gullit's word has been twisted around... i think what they asked him was would he bring paolo maldini to USA, he said something like that 40 years may be too many and that he would bring gattuso instead...

not the best thing that he has said, but not as controvertial as shown on goal.com

Flamini Moving Closer To Milan - Report

Arsenal midfielder Matthieu Flamini is moving ever closer to a move to AC Milan, according to Tuttosport.

Flamini has developed into one of Europe’s finest defensive midfielders this season, and he was simply brilliant during both legs of Arsenal’s recent Champions League victory over Milan.

Rossoneri President Silvio Berlusconi was hugely impressed with Flamini, and it was reported a couple of weeks ago that he was planning to make a bid for the player.

The Frenchman’s future at the Emirates Stadium is clouded in huge doubt as his contract runs out in June, meaning that he could move to another club on a Bosman free transfer.

Tuttosport says that Flamini has rejected a new deal from Arsenal that would raise his salary from €1m to €2m a year.

Berlusconi would be prepared to offer Flamini between €3m and €3.5m, and this is said to be a more than tempting proposal.

The 23-year-old, who has Italian ancestry, has stated in the past that he would like to play in Serie A, and Arsenal’s recent struggles, which has seen their Premiership challenge virtually evaporate, may also push him through the exit door.

If what Gullit said is true, then in my opinion,he goes from being a legend to being a BIG FREAKIN' BASTARD.

I'm down with that Avia. I'm alright with a little Milan critism, but he doesn't have to get rude about it!

I guess it's just my love for defenders, but I really would rather see us buy two class defenders, a good fullback and a CB rather than a striker. Not that I should have to choose, I'd like to have all three. And Flamini.

Word Bonnie, i'll hold Gullits arms behind his back while u get stuck in lol! Bit cheeky of the old Milan favourite if you ask me.

As for Pips, i get what he means but i dont care WHO comes as long as they bring the right attitude (and winning ways) to the club (not just a money hungry mercenary looking to see out the remainder of his footballing career!).

Forza Milan!

Ya, while I didn't completely agree with Pippo's word, I agreed with the reason behind it. I've always felt that our "Milan family" environment is both our strongest point and our weak link. It's what makes Milan great, a team to admire for more than just their football, but it also keeps us from buying players who aren't completely accepted and from cutting player past their prime. I guess when it comes down to it, I'd rather we keep our identity and struggle than turn into freaking, Chelsea or something.

Speaking of word-twisting, did anyone catch the garbage out of Gullit's mouth on goal.com? Again, I'm hoping that his words were twisted, because if he actually said that Maldini is too old to play in the US, and all that crap, I want to just smack him in the mouth when he comes to town with his little Galaxies.

The chemistry at Milan has always been a very strong and delicate thing, many players who came in where ostracized before even getting a chance to prove themselves such as Rivaldo, Kluivert and Roque Junior. Even guys like Bierhoff were met with resistance. The thing that I think Pippo is trying to get at it is dont mess with a good thing, but he does not seem to see that it is not a good thing. Maybe he believes our mids need more help than our attack?

I understand exactly what you mean K...and I bit my tongue while coming here to see the response that little piece she wrote got after witnessing the throw down that went down in the forum over her post...So i'm kinda hoping that no one got offened here...didn't mean to post something that apperantly over in the forum is so controversial that people are actually going at each other.

I completely understand what you are saying and but I think that what pippo said maybe got twisted around? I hope that he doesn't think that we can go another year with out any reniforcements at all if at least bench warmers...because we need capable bench players too...first team needs some help...and we also need some capable players on the bench when the need arises to take over.

If we are on for Germans, add Mario Gomez to my list of targets to replace Gila. he can't seem to stop scoring this year.
