Thursday Milan Musing, Fire Carlo?

By: Gianfranco | October 4th, 2007

No, I do not think Carlo should be fired. Firing Carlo, and hiring someone like Jose Mourinho would be like hiring a world class chef to cook a meal with old, stale, brazilian cuisine. If the ingredients aren’t all that good the product will always suck.

Carletto has not done anything to impress this season, and he has held fast with lineups that have not worked but I think firing him now would cause way more harm than good. He needs to be able to right this ship before the decision made, granted his time is waning. He does deserve a chance though.

Who could replace Carlo? Mourinho? Cappello? Lippi? Well quite frankly I have no idea, there is always a chance that Milan will promote from within, such as Tassotti but thats a question I almost afraid to contemplate.

Finally, I would like to hear the tifosi’s take on Berlusconi nixing the Buffon deal. At first I was really, really, really upset. I just could not believe he would pass up a chance at World Champ, World Class GK. Then I laughed and said the only person he has to blame is himself…have fun with Dida Silvio, maybe you can have another kid for him to baptize.

Maldini!!! he’s going to be injured all season any way so just take him off the roster and straight into coaching the first team with Costacurta as assistant manager. In all seriousness I hope we keep Carlo on it takes time to adjust to a new coach so at least wait until the group stages of the UCL are over. As for Buffon I hope (i really really hope) that Milan aren’t going after Buffon because they are chasing someone younger (Amelia, Gomes, Akinfeev).

Maldini is a great choice, but he has already said he could never coach because he would want to be on the pitch…my vote is on Amelia.

carlo is an amazing coach imo.. we just havent given him the players he wanted… he asked for players like toni and ribery… if we had them, rest assured, this conversation would have never taken place..

exactly, its hard to fault with players that he did not want, all he got was Pato, and part of me believes he was forced into getting him.

Perhaps, but consider that any new coach maybe would have a better chance to change the menu and demand better ingredients next shopping day. If Milan got Mourinho, Mourinho would demand conditions, and I can see him making changes immediately, particularly attitude wise.nd IMO right now Milan needs changes a lot, if it´s not working, and it´s not, changing a coach now seems like the only chance to change that. What else can be done to change things right now? Next transfer season is January and all likely great players will be cup tied plus probably unavailable.

I hope Carletto stays, even though i wanted him out couple of times in the past few years. but i have a feeling that in the end of season he will leave and take the Azzurri job and i even dont think Mourinho will come.

As for Il Capitano as our coach. a big NO NO NOOO, he even said i dont want to be a coach and not because a player is good makes him a good coach, he must wait for at least 5 years or so after working under coaches and learning.

Yeah i agree with Fetyani, maldini is a big No no for coaching. And yas Mourinho will defenately not coach milan, i know this for a fact. But i believe in Carletto, he is a smart man and hopefully will recover milan from the depths.
