The Derby: Stateside
By: Gianfranco | July 26th, 2009As many of you know today I will be at Gillette Stadium watching Milan muddle their way through the final game of the World Football Challenge. What we have seen up to this point has been far more bad than good, but as the preseason wears on we can only hope improvement. Regardless of the form on the pitch, myself and many of you have a chance to see Milan play Inter in our backyards and the excitement should be more than enough to push us forward.
If you are attending the game use this space to cooridinate possible meetings. As I mentioned in earlier comments I have organized a bus of 55 Milanista’s from Connecticut and have yet to determine arrival time and where, I will keep updating through the comments via my Iphone and hope to see many of you at the game.
Also feel free to use this space to keep a game update going for the many fans who don’t have the pleasure of being able to watch the match. Today should be a lot of fun and, win or lose, a memorable day for the Derby della Madonnina

I think talking about bad coach atm is totally insane because the whole consortium of coaches couldnt do much without such key positions like beast playmaker, classic animal striker and speedy full-backs.Instead we have pathetic dinho(pathetic because he just doesnt show that he wants to be old one,he is one fat pig),time worn zambro and janks, and little chicken pato who in addition to great talent cannot do a shit without proper help which he cant find in borriello, nor inzaghi. On the other hand talking about yellow Leonardo being better than Carlo is again insane because he simply lacks experience.
I think galliani is not monkey so i expect reinforcements until the dead line. Both Fabiano and KJL look to me now like messi.Even Ade is better alongside what we have.Posted from

“meddling nature of the brass”
ah c’mon!
with the few exceptions of SAF, most owners expect to have a say in the day to day going ons
Mourinho left chelsea coz of it
If anything, Berlu should have FORCED Carlo to play Dino, Viudez & Cardacio more
Although, he wasnt anyones 1st choice, Leo is here now so we will have to roll with it
as much as his inexperience worries me, i wonder how he will cope with the pressure but i take some comfort in the knowledge that Carlos departure wasnt unexpected, so Leo has known for a while he was gona step into the job
So if he is anywhere near smart he would have already been noting the weaknesses in the squad as well as deficiencies in Carlos tactics long before the summer started
lets just hope he gets new blood in the squad soon!

If nothing else, we can always say that our coach gets the most in the sack. I mean fuck me, i’m far from finocchio, but we got one smooth motherfucker running our team. Leo must get more sex than James Bond

That is a point, Antonio. I think the title of “Best hair” has been ceded from Roberto Mancini to Leonardo. His feathering is masterful.

‘Best Hair’ wont buy us any trophies.

berlu is the one that sold kaka and handed the baton over to ronnie, which i interpret as “meddling.”
if dinho doesn’t show considerably more pop in his game by the beginning of the season i will be happy to join hands with gian and demand that he be dropped once and for all. no more excuses for being overweight and unable/unwilling to run!

I watched Milan play both Chelsea and Inter at the World Football Challenge, and though I am a Juventus fan I am a bit concerned.
Ronaldinho put in his fair share of tricks n flicks, but more often that not they did’nt come off.Save for explosive bursts from deep by Pato and a Pirlo renaissance,i’d say Ronnie is their chief creative force and if he does’nt rediscover himself they will be in trouble.
They look good in defence, but I think they should get a goalkeeper, a craetive force in midfield and perhaps one more striker.Posted from

Hahahahaha, that Rossi thing is funny. I believe it to be a hackers job. Maybe the same guy who sent Luca Toni to Dortmund. I hope its true. He doesnt fit the description of the striker we need, but I still want him.

This is my first entry in the Milan blog (I’m an Inter fan…).
I was at Foxboro to watch the practice session, and the game yesterday. I thought I should mention a couple of things about Milan:
1. Milan players looked really tired at Gillette. They’d just played a very competitive game against Chelsea Friday night. And it’s pre-season fitness. Even in traing they were moving gingerly…
2. The “top” players – Ronaldinho, Pato, Pirlo – only did stretches Saturday, and did not train at all. Pippo didn’t even stretch – he was the ball boy; and Seedorf wasn’t on the pitch.
3. Kalac. Man, that guy is completely useless! He can hardly move. He was missing balls that even we could save. And after facing 4 or 5 shots, he would take a break, sit down on the cooler and drink G! I mean, that’s not how professionals work. He lookwed like a teamster. Storari is a much better keeper, and he was full of energy.
4. Leo is a good looking dude (and he signed my ticket and a shirt), but his training methods looked simplistic – like what we do for high school teams. Inter’s training was more advanced and complex, and Mou was involved in all aspects of the training.
5. Oneweyu is just awful (sorry, I like the guy and he plays well for the US).. Compare him to Lucio, who was outstanding for Inter yesterday, and you can see the difference!
Milan fans were visibly disappointed, although they’d outnumbered us in the stadium.

Damn my heart stopped when I read rossi; then I fell empty when I read it was fake…

inter has depth; milan does not. one could also make an argument about the relative quality of the starting eleven on these two sides.

Ok here’s what I think. I haven’t read through the comments so might be repeating other’s sentiments.
I found the performance against Club America totally disheartening. Milan were simply terrible.
They picked up where they had left off in the next match but then got into the groove of things. In fact, I was quite impressed. Potential in the team was there. Leonardo made a lot of subs in the second half and Chelsea kept close to their full strength team right throughout. Yet our boys a gave a good account of themselves. Fitness level of the squad as a whole needs to be improved though.
It was back to rubbish against Inter and the less said about it the better.
Overall concerns: Full-back positions still bad, especially left. We don’t have any pace there. We were made to look second rate in those positions compared to their Chelsea or Inter counterparts. Antonini – crap. And the rest not MUCH better.
Centre of defence: Good to see Nesta back. He brings obvious class. Thiago Silva is good and Oniyewu, despite Milito making look rather foolish at one play, will improve. He’s good in the tackle but needs to learn from Nesta about anticipation, cunning and positioning. I don’t have major concerns about the middle.
Midfield: Basically, Flamini MUST start. That leaves one of Gattuso or Ambro to sit on the bench. Perhaps even both. I was impressed by Abate’s workrate and determination. I think he’s a good addition to our roster.
Dinho looks like he’s lost weight so that’s good. He needs to start playing wholly for the team and forget the exhibitionist stuff. The supporting cast needs to be there too, that’s why I would like to see Abate and Flamini and Pirlo working with him in midfield.
The engine room looks ok and they will surely improve their fitness.
Forwards: Pato was lively but has lost a bit of sharpness in front of goal. Borriello was not impressive. No movement. No anticipation. We NEED HEAPS MORE from our target man. I don’t know what Zigoni’s about. De Gennaro looked like a man trying too hard.
I don’t even want to talk about the Kalac.
Ok I think I’ve rumbled on enough.

Reading about the team reports from different people is confusing. While some paint a doom and gloom picture, others seem hopeful. DOnt know what to make of it.
