The Birth of the AC Milan Offside Ultras
By: Gianfranco | February 17th, 2009Two weeks ago blog contributer Avia took a little trip to Ibrox to watch Milan take on Rangers. The result of the friendly was 2-2, but the more important resullt was the fact that Avia’s banner created the AC Milan Offside Ultras. I have to admit when I saw the banner I chuckled, shook my head, and said for better or for worse we are well organized bunch of fans who share a passion for all things Milan! The only thing keeping us from being Ultras’s is our lack of weekly game presence, we can work on that though. Here are the great pics from Avia, I will be passing videos over to Fet for blog friendly conversion.

UEFA Cup match preview, will follow tomorrow.

We already have the next Pippo, his name is Paloschi.

@Capunk
Why are you so sure that Milan will buy back the other half of the contract? If they persue Eto’o, having Borriello and Pato and Inzaghi, whose contract runs till next year, and a possible purchase of Schevchenko, why would we need Paloschi? If Parma is promoted to Serie A, they might very well try to buy Milan’s half of the contract. If they had so much trust in Paloschi’s abilities they would have kept him.

U raise a V good point ASL.
Its another reason in my book for why we should also chase after GRossi.
Dont forget that we still have Borriello on the books, we will need to give him another season before writing him off??
One of my all time fave strikers is Daniele Massaro and i still feel that Milan should always have an italian upfront.
Paloschi is still young and on a learning curve and therefore its to early to compare him to Pippo just yet

So easy to forget about Borriello… poor guy hasn’t had the best of luck, but really, if this 5+6 rule wasn’t a possibility, would any of us really rather have Marco over Eto?
Awesome pics, Avia! Love the heckling of Dida.

Paloschi wont return next year I think. Sheva should go, and a striker Etoo/Rossi should be bought.
Avia, I dont think the Agger medical story is true. Tuttosport is known for printing loads of BS. However I really hope we get him.Posted from

No Bonnie,almost everyone would prefer Etoo,expect maybe 1 person.Gian,I am looking at you. Just for his preference of Italian players though.

Bonnie – thanks, the funny thing was Dida was heckled in soo many different languages!
Marco vs Eto’o?? Eto’o is OUTSCORING Messi!!!!!! Nuff said
Ranjeet – totally agree with everything in your 1st sentence!
The game is tonight, already found a link (i have alot of free time on my hands right now)
http://www.atdhe.net/live-tv-3647.html
No official line up just yet but the called up squad is;
Abbiati, Dida, Perucchini (50), Antonini, Bonera, Darmian, Favalli, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Maldini, Senderos, Zambrotta, Ambrosini, Beckham, Flamini, Pirlo, Seedorf, Inzaghi, Pato, Ronaldinho.
With Channel 4 guessing at the line up as;
Abbiati; Zambrotta, Senderos, Kaladze, Jankulovski; Beckham, Flamini, Ambrosini, Seedorf; Pato, Inzaghi
Dont be suprised if Dida takes Abbi’s place between the posts(if he doesnt, its a sign that maybe the management are taking the UEFA seriously!)

If Paloschi is that good, it’s the more reason why we should hang onto him. Eto’o, if he came at all, would be a very short-term player. I’d rather Milan get a big targetman like Toni. We have Boriello, who fits that description, but he’s been out injured a lot. Actually, I’d rather see Milan pursuing Cassano, I think he’d be a good fit for us.

Ranjeet – the one thing that worries me about Agger is that we keep getting linked to this guy, is he even any good???
I watch a fair number of epl matches and have never really seen this guy play, why go after someone who hardly plays?
I dont wana see us sign Liverpool’s Favalli!
Juve have become a good advertisement of Calcio in terms of Italia heavy squad, Italian manager as well as integrating in some quality foreign elements.
Something else worth remembering is that Mourinho is the ONLY foreign coach in Serie A!
Although im not Italian, im happy to see more italians in Milan.
I would hate to see us go down the epl route, where i imagine all the team talks are done with the players wearing headphones – like they do in the UN so that they can have a translator explaining what the speaker is saying lol)

Cassano?? No chance! i can only just bear Seedorfs little hissy fits, Cassano is truly like a child.
After losing a character like Maldini in the dressing room, next season, that last player i would throw in there is Cassano

For anyone who says Agger is good, I need proof. The man is a Pool reject, that means Rafa Benitez values him lower than Skrtel…so quite frankly I dont want him. The same goes for Ivanovic, all I hear is he is good, but then all I see is he gets no time, he didnt play when Chelsea had Ben Haim…how could either man be Milan caliber.
If you are in the camp of either player, I would like to specifcally see why? Good on the tackle, great header of the ball, bcause all I have right now is what I can see, and what I can see is players who are not being called up. Sorry to sound harsh, it is not what I am looking to do, but I need to see some nuts and bolts here about these guys…

So, I am sure that you guys hardly ever cross the fence and come over to the Inter board, but it seems that AC Milan and Ancelotti were given golden tapirs on Monday after the derby. I have posted the video on my board.
It is pretty funny.

Dinho on the injury list now too? Beckham’s hamstring tear should miraculously recover in world record time….snigger. Werder are tenth in Germany but 13pts off the top which I suppose is only a win different from Milan’s points disadvantage of 11pts!
Diego is playing, could be trouble. Frings out is a major plus. Don’t foret they drew and beat Inter in the Champs League.

another thing about Agger is that he’s very injury prone, that doesnt bode well with me. @gian the reason he hardly plays is because he supposedely had a fallout with pools management but he’s a decent footballer. love the discussion going on here and Eto’o very likely will leave Barca when his contract runs out, and I’d love to see him here at Milan; im not too sold yet on Paloschi and he’s still needs to gain more experience, with all the strickers we have on board one more year out on loan seems logical

The two players im worried about in Bremen are Diego & Pizzarro, those guys are trouble and with guys like Favalli and Kaladhze lurking around at the back; this game might just get ugly.

Cassano? Are your kidding? He’s way too “flashy” for milan’s blue collar legacy and never tracks back defensively. In fact, if he had a brazilian passport, gianfranco would be advocating they impose the death penalty on him.

Regarding Agger, I’ve seen him play a handful of matches for Liverpool. He is a decent player, lively, good on the ball, fairly aggressive, though a bit too small for me in central defense. I do have ‘grass is always greener’ syndrome with Agger though, better bring him in than nobody/stand pat with what we have. Rather have Skrtel.

haha good one lamagica, but Cassano’s talent is raw & rare. they could work on his bazark attitude.

im not so much worried about Werders stikers but more worried about our defenders (namely our CBs)
Which is another reason i have my doubts about Agger.
From what i saw of Sivla in glasgow he seems like a good start but he needs paired with a Jaap Stam figure, Agger for me is still looking like a cop out.

haha yess!
Cassano? I don’t know about that.
From a skill standpoint, I think he would be a pretty good addition, but a personality, maturity and characteristics standpoint, like everyone else has said, most definitely not…Posted from

Lemme take a look at our defensive aquisitions so far Mattionni, Silva, Rossi (Parma) & Agger..thats a whole backfour, not bad. im still not satisfied but they’re all young so Grazie Galliani and Silvio. on another note does anyone know something about that Rossi defender from Parma, what’s he like a Bonera, Nesta or Kaladhze? now all they have to do is bring Gourcuff back, sign another good midfielder hopefully a versatile one like Veloso, get a replacement for Pippo and were set for Scudetto glory.

Dude, gian, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Pirlo and Seedorf were Inter rejects and they thrived at Milan for a time. There are lots of reasons why a player can fail at a club, some of them are his fault, some are beyond his control (look at Robbie Keane – it’s hard to be successful when you are benched for 3 games whenever you start getting your scoring touch)

and avia – what difference does it make what nationality the players are? Are you saying that young men be denied the chance to escape poverty in order to fill some nationalistic quota?
This domestic quota is garbage. If italians, brits, etc were better than brazilians, ghanains, argentinians, etc, then they would be populating their respective domestic leagues in greater numbers. Period. Quotas and set asides only bring down quality, whether its in football, in the workplace, university campuses, or on the shelves at grocery stores.
