Silence By Design
By: Gianfranco | June 3rd, 2009My silence lately has been by design. First and foremost I am emotionally and mentally exhausted from the season. Second the loss of Maldini, Carletto, and in possibly mere moments the loss of Kaka has really left me speechless. Fear not I have been making notes this whole time from comments, articles, and general discussion with folks so expect something substantial come the weekend, the only question is who will be left on this team when that time comes…
In the meantime Avia was kind of enough to share some videos from his trip to San Siro and Fetyani was even kinder to make them uploadable, thank you again fellas…

I’m sure more than a few of you read the Deloitte Research report on Premier League debts. Chelsea has a debt exceeding 711 mil. pounds. Man United has a debt of 649 mil. pounds. Arsenal and L’Pool both have debts above the 300 mil. mark.
AC Milan’s debt currently stands somewhere between 60 and 80 mil. euros. Almost every club, especially the big European clubs, have debts. These debts are managed by a complicated system of revenue involving sponsorships, winnings, TV deals, ticket sales, etc. which then go on to pay the interest on these debts. However, if a club like Chelsea fail to win consistently, or UEFA implement a standard by which clubs with astronomical debts cannot play in certain Cups, then eventually the debt catches up and the club implodes.
Milan is in one of the better positions regarding debts, so it irks me to read Galliani complaining so much. He’s right in that Milan and Italian clubs need to own their own stadiums and that the EU-member rule needs to go and the tax policy needs revision. But Milan are certainly no beggars.
So I wonder what the problem is? What are they doing with the money they have? Why is Berlusconi so tight with the funding? One of the reasons mega-debt clubs like the PL ones survive is because their rich owners pay for all the expenses (interest on debts, transfers). Silvio is one of the world’s richest people. I guess if he stopped rigging presidential elections, he could use some money on the club.

I can’t say i’ve read the reports on Deloitte. But Forbes I believe uses Deloitte as a source and in their reports we have zero debt. If this is true, then in the top ten clubs we are one of two without debt.

and dont try to calculate the transfer money allocated or anything at all, you cannot reach those figures unless you’re Milan’s accountant.

Selling Kaka means getting a lot of money, and also removing a huge chunk of money from our wage bill. If we sell i hope we can also get a player like Sneijder in the deal. But I still hope Kaka stays. We can sell Dinho(wont happen),and buy a striker and defender.

Funny thing is, on the Milan site they only have financial statements for 2006/2007…

Patcook you always post logical ideas that are well thought out and make sense, but saying that a real fan is one that keeps there head in times of crisis, that’s a bit stupid mate. How does that class you as a real fan? I think it says that your patient and cool under pressure, but then that could be a sign that you have no passion for the club (im not saying this is the case).

I’m surprised no one has brought up Rosina. I think he’s an absolute gun, he’s Italian, he’s loyal (he could have left Toro long ago) and he is way too good to be playing in serie b. The only thing is, can he play as a trequartista?

I truly hope the Eto for Ibra deal doesn’t go through for Inter.

Er…Ibra for Eto.

Ef that shit bro, let Inter do what they want. Why is it now that what they do has bearings on our fortunes? enough of that. Used to be a time when it was the reverse.

Because I don’t place as much faith in our management’s decisions as I used to, that’s why.

But also cause I want Eto for us =P

JP – “What is so heart-wrenching is the fact that Kaka seems willing to shun Madrid and stay, but I’m not sure we can trust the mere words of footballers, agents and presidents anymore. Maybe Kaka wants to stay, maybe he doesn’t.”
Well said JP, i just spotted your post and got to say i agree
Im not willing to throw in the towel yet, on monday it should be announced that Jesus boy is gone, my attention will be switching to see who we are linked with
Im pretty sure that Berlu & Fester (and Leo) are earmarking players they wish to tap up as soon as the sale goes through
I just want to see Leo get his hands on any new signings early on so that he can shape the team early on (as opposed to the 2nd half of the season!)

http://www.milannews.it is usually pretty good.
anyway, the news is that Abate will return to Milan.
http://www.milannews.it/?action=read&idnotizia=7971
Not that surprising to be honest, but still it is finally a bit of good news in a pretty crappy week for us. Although, considering the decisions the management has been making it wouldnt be outside the realm of possibilities that we let him go as well.

its european (and local) election day in europe so most places have a ban on news media covering anything political. if the ultras are threatening to boycott berlusconi’s candidates that would be regarded as ‘political’ news. that and the fact that berlusconi controls or owns almost all media in italy means it can be hard getting anti- berlusconi reports. think fox & bush.

k – i was gettin kinda pissed at how juve had already snapped up Diego and the 2 siginings the have (or about to make) while we seem to be giving away players (CuffY) and selling on our prized asset but im pretty sure this will change with the selling on of Jesus Boy

Has anybody realised, that the main reason why we are concidering selling Kaka is to pay of our debt, but they are also talking about buying new palyers with the money we make off him? i can’t help but think something else is the reason why we are selling him
