Tuesday Milan Musings, “A New Year brings New Players?”

By: Gianfranco | January 1st, 2008

There is no better way to kick off the New Year than with some cold hard transfer window speculation and regular old Milan Musings.

SPECULATION
Disclaimer: speculation is exactly that!

-Ronaldinho: I am as sick of this transfer rumor as I have ever been. Since the summer Silvio, Uncle Fester and the rest of Milan brass have been salivating after the “has-been” golden ball winner. I do personally believe that his best days are behind him and his playing style does not necessarily fit the Milan system. He could not coexist with Kaka on the national team what makes people think he can do so at Milan. If we have pledged allegiance to Kaka than he should be our main man, not ‘Dinho, and lest we not forget another Brazilian “has been” that we go stuck with…Ronaldo…and wait there is more…Rivaldo. Come on Fester learn from past mistakes already.

-Amelia: He is quality a goalie more in the form of Peruzzi, keg, than Buffon, bottle, but regardless he plays well between the pipes. Italians have always been world renowned for the keepers and it disgusts me that so many teams are turning to Brazilian keepers, he would make a nice addition to the squad, but then again so would Abbiati, who is already on the books.

-Gomes: The Brazilian PSV keep has been rumored a favorite of Fester & Co. REMINDER: Dida is Brazilian, he is no longer good, let’s switch nationalities please.

-Benzema: This kid has talent, and in my eyes is way more Zidane than Gourcuff will ever be (I hate to judge Gourcuff with so little playing time). Benzema would be a nice addition, but again, may not find a spot to call his own on the squad, but man doesn’t he sometimes remind you of Ibra?

-Keita: Watch and then say please.

-Drogba: I can not stress how much I want this man on the squad. Just watch Chelsea play without him, and you realize how important he is, he flat out changes games and works very hard. I do not want to hype him up anymore but if things go accordingly I will get my wish…which leads me to the

MUSINGS

-If Drogba does come to Milan there is a possibility that his old pal Jose Mourninho may join him. It is no secret that Carletto will probably not be back next year, I love him to death but it is time for a change. He has done very little evolving over the years, and in my eyes has neglected the youth of the squad. He has brought us much success, but along with the boys in the front office has left us in a bit of a pickle. I like Mourinho, he is brash, he does what he wants, and does not really give a rat’s ass about what anyone thinks, that my friend is a quality manager. As Maldini retires and an era of Rossoneri is ending, what better way to usher in a new regime than a new manager and striker.

-Ronaldo may not leave for Flamengo after all, that means we are stuck with El Gordo until at least June. But alas there is still time for his departure the transfer window runs through January.

-Pato will be arriving in the new year and only time will tell if we are considering him a success or a bust. It all depends on Carletto’s willingness to play him or sit him that will make all the difference.

I think Berbatov would be a pretty good addition to the A.C squad.

NY, Yes Chelsea scored, but not as easily as they had with Drogba in the lineup. Also with Drogba in you know who to get the ball to and who will make things happen, without him it is a crapshoot at Stamford Bridge.

    Easier???

For one, I would hate to see Drogba in Milan colors. But it wouldn’t be as bad as seeing Joselito occupying Milan bench. I am tired of “Special one” shite, besides he won’t get as much funds as he used to in Chelski, at least in the beginning. Besides he is expensive.

But if local newspapers will fund his salary, why not?

Its a poor comparison because of games played but before Drogba was injured Chelsea scored quite a few goals, almost 30+, and they were very rarely shut out. NY, what makes you not a Drogba fan?

so according to goal.com Benzema now has a price tag, over 25 million pound.

    GET HIM NOOOOW!!! ASAP!

if possible even in the January transfer market. in the past few years there hasn’t been any good strikers in the transfer market, this is a sign from god to Galliani’s bald scary ass hard head. dont negotiate, dont stall, just get him for god’s sake. if we dont, there are half a dozen clubs that are willing to pay that amount without thinking twice. AND DONT STOP THERE!

Pato and Benzema both together = 38 years old, still younger than Il Capitano.

shehan, i’ll be moree than willing to help you..

honestly, let’s face it.. as an ac milan fan, the only thing i’m looking forward to for the rest of the season is seeing pato play.. other than that, i can’t wait till they start rebuilding the team..

there’s always been rumors about players coming, but who are we kidding? milan’s transfer policy isn’t the greatest and i’d be surprised if they land a big name this window.. they were supposed to get banega, but he’s going to valencia..

didnt have much of a choice with banega… he could only come in the summer, and valencia moved fast and got him in the winter transfer window… thats something we could not have helped..

The problem is when Milan got Pato it seems to me like they more or less did so that Inter did not, if you remeber correctly Carletto had to go to all the way to Montreal to be convinced that this kid could play. Pato did not play well in the U20 World Cup but they bought him anyway?

Gianfranco, yea it seems like that too.. and remember the whole Suazo incident.. Just when we thought Milan had him, Inter took him.. i’ve seen some clips, he’s OK, not sure if he deserves all the hype he’s getting.. Ancelotti said that he could score 40 goals by the end of June if he plays like he does in training, and that’s excellent news.. (not that i expect him to score 40, obviously exaggeration).. anyway, time will tell.. next week!

Podolski would be good; he could be a really good 2nd striker behind Gilardino or Inzaghi (if he’s still going to start in the CL). He’s a good shooter and can dribble, somewhat. I would love to see him. Although my first choice is without a doubt Drogba.

LUKAS Podolsk he would be good…He’s really good…right now I would rather have him the inzaghi or gila or maybe they can take turns with him. He’s really good at holding onto the ball…Plus like you (gianfranco) said he won’t be CL cup tied.
