Friday Milan Musings, for my pal Ro
By: Gianfranco | December 28th, 2007I did not want Ro to go into withdrawals but even bloggers need a break. It is not all Cristal and Playboy Bunnies over here, and until you guys start paying me I have to go to work. Ok, Ok, enough of my whining, onto the good stuff.
-Let us take a sneak peek at Silvio Berlusconi’s La Befana (the Italian version of Santa Claus, a hideous Old Lady, delivering gifts on January 6) Wish List:
1. Ronaldinho Jersey
2. Ronaldinho Underwear
3. Ronaldinho Socks
4. Ronaldinho Headband
5. Ronaldinho Picture
6. Ronaldinho Cleats
7. Ronaldinho
As you can all see the man loves his ‘Dinho and it is look more and more likely that the fallen world player of the year may be on his way to Milan. We all know what happened to the last Brazilian whose name started with Ron, and if anyone has watched ‘Dinho in action I am beginning to the think he may cause us the same grief. I believe we would be lucky not take him, but alas Silvio thinks we can get him at a bargain. Martha has thrown some fuel to the fire here.
-Onto Carletto’s list which is a bit more reasonable:
1. Eto
2. a GK
3. Zambrotta
4. a new team?
It is not surprise that Carletto has always loved Eto and wants to be his coach. The only problem is Eto is so hot right now that Barca will never let him go, so that brings us to number 5 on his list. If Eto will not come to Milan, and to a lesser extent Zambro, then why not go coach there. My take on this is that Carletto has had a great run at Milan and can easily be compared to the likes of Cappello and Sacchi, but the bottom line is that if you are not evolving then it is time to move on, and Carletto who was the pioneer of many things, deep holding midfieler anyone? Has not really been innovative in a season or two, and the Serie A has completely passed him by. So who fills Carletto’s big shoes? Well who else but, Jose Mourinho, I have yet to really give the “Special One” much thought but I have always been a big fan of change and the excitement that comes with it, but does anyone remember a man named Tabarez…enough said.
-Time for my list:
1. Drogba
2. Abbiati to come home
3. Zambrotta
As we can all see it is nice and easy. Drogba is a huge move that would really give the squad a boost in Serie A, his cup tied issues really but a damper in my plans. Either way my Milan/Drogba jersey has been in my shopping cart on acmilan.com since September.
We are only three days away from the January transfer window and I can not wait to see what develops. I promise to keep everyone, especially Ro, apprised of all the moves. Don’t forget to check me out over on the World Cup Blog writing about none other than the Ivory Coast.

dont know why nobody’s mentioning Amelia. a great young talented goal keeper and he wants to move.
ill take Dinho for one reason, and that is we are so desperate im willing to try anyone! he couldnt do any worse.

agreed fetyani amelia is a better fit well anyone is better than dida 60 for ronaldinho if that happens it will be a bigger waste of money than sheva to chelsea

my wish list:
- arthur boruc (celtic goalie); even though he’s cup-tied…
- dida, cafu, serginho, emerson and ronaldo to be shipped back to brasil!
- gourcuff finally to get some playing time
- pato to be absolutely brilliant [and all the goals that come with that ;)]
- berlusconi to finally spend like he actually is rich… which he is
- karim benzema would be nice in julyPosted from

Drogba… Can’t see that happening…
Zambrotta would be pretty key.
What’s up with Gourcuff, anyway? J’s wishing for playing time and you (well, I) always keep hearing him compared to Zidane, but it seems like Ancelotti isn’t interested in giving him any meaningful minutes…
On a, somewhat, related note: It was nice to see Shevchenko have a killer game against Aston Villa. That second goal he scored was amazing and his setup for Alex was pretty great.

1. benzema
2. frey (this guy is freakin bad ass)
3. zambrotta
4. benegai think we all want to see gourcuff play more, but it just doesnt seem to be happening…

Guys (and ladies) Abbiati unlike Amelia, Frey and Boruc is FREE. That means more money for Benzema and Drogba or even Keita (Lyon, Check him out at the IC Blog). As for Gourcuff I am in accoradance that he has not seen the right amount of playing time but he also has not made the most out of his time. I am not ready to ship him out just yet but a loan deal is not so bad…

i’m very in favor of sending gourcuff out on loan to gain some experience and playing time. he’s wasting away. huge fan of benzema, so we’ll see how that goes. i heard some rumors tying us with guillermo ochoa, who is mexico’s #2 keeper. he was impressive during Copa America this summer.

and really, seeing how conservatively we spent this summer, i agree that it’s time to hammer out the big dollars and get the players we need. on a not-related note, A.A.S, just from the highlights, that match looked insane, i really wish i caught the whole thing. good job for sheva though, second goal was a beauty.

Come on J cafu isn’t that bad…he and kaka do most of the running. The man is 37 years old, correct me if I’m wrong, and he’s still able to get the momentum of the game going as for the other hands down I agree…They’ve done jack didley squat this first half of the season.

I couldn’t agree more with J’s wishlist. Spot on! Except Cafu still is special to me but I agree he is old and we must bring in the young.
For the Goalkeepers; Boruc, Amelia (even if Livorno are doing shit it isn’t only his fault) or Frey. Any of them I would love.

as Milanisti we shouldn’t worry about money, Berlusconi has more than enough and for once dont be cheap. i cant remember the last time we spend big big, even Ronaldo and Emerson we got a bargain on them, dont get me wrong its a good quality to get good deals but just splash some money around, its not like we’re gonna be in a crisis. money shouldn’t be an issue, the only thing that can stop us is the players and the clubs will not to transfer.
as i said before, im with the all-for-in 60 mil Dinho bid. even though its a lot but we gotta change asap.

60M can give you a 30M for Drogba, which Chelsea has said will get him, and a 30M for a Benzema or even a solid back. It just makes more financial sense.

1. frey
2. zambrotta
3. benzemawe would be complete. its time to spend a little extra, we need it.

i agree with you, but we already have one hand on Dinho and didnt Berlusconi say he’ll even dig from his own pocket for Dinho. but if its either Benzema & Drogba or Dinho, ill go with the first option of course. but we need immediate action done by our management and transfer guru.

and now its reported that Sheva may come back for 14 million pound (Ernesto Bronzetti is or will be in London this week). i believe is too much for Sheva, maximum 10 mil.

fuck you, you hoe, i dont want you back… hahah i couldnt resist…
plus, if we are raiding chelsea, why cant we raid for drogba?!
still, drogba is 30+ so i think we should be goin for some one younger, to be honest…. benzema and rossi would be excellent…

If there’s any possibility of taking a striker into the team, then it’s definitely Drogba. Sheva can stay in Chelsea, I don’t really care about him. Abbiati should return and Gourcuff. We need at least two more experienced defenders who are between 25-30 years old. That’s the least number of new defenders Milan need to compensate Maldini’s retirement next season. The least. And Oscar Tabarez didn’t bring any excitement to the team as he did not have any control over the excess of primadona at Milan then. I’d say Terim would be close to bringing the ‘excitement’ prior to the arrival of our current coach…

..I meant, Gourcuff should stay put and not be sold or even put on loan. Ancelotti should have more balls to field this fellow on the pitch next season.
