Derby Recap, and Welcoming a Frenchman

I have to admit I am still overly thrilled with the derby win, and still salivating over the thrilling potential of the scudetto going down to the wire. An all around dominate performance from Milan, and I would have to say that less the last 15-20 minutes or so played one of their best games of the season. It is hard for me to pinpoint the man of the match because so many players stepped up on the big change, but the ones that stick out most for me were Ambro and Nesta. Ambro’s tireless play in the midfield and his constant harassment of Inter’s midfield, specifically Maniche and Zannetti, meant that Milan enjoyed a huge amount of possession in the first half. Nesta took on the chore of managing the defense and did so impeccably, now if he could only teach Bonera that a football game is 90 minutes long and that he has to keep his head on straight for all of it Milan will have a formidable defense come next season. When Suazo came on it was like Bonera reverted to toddler behavior while Nesta calmly defended him strong on every touch.

It is hard to find negatives in the performance, but the last 20 minutes or so had me on the edge of my seat wishing the final whistle more than ever. I will go ahead though and bash Inter a bit, because we can. The lack of an attacking threat on that team was very transparent on Sunday, Zlatan is a great striker but all great strikers need great service and Inter lack that. There is no true #10 on that team and it shows, and if they lose the scudetto then Moratti needs not go very far to place blame, a mirror is good place to start. I will however come out and say that it does not matter all that much to me if Roma surpass Inter or not, because neither team have really capitalized on each others error’s and neither seem to lack that hunger or cutting edge and quite frankly I am focused on the task at hand for Milan. Fourth place here we come, and six points will assure this so let’s keep on trucking.

Tons of Musings to speak of…

-Der Kaiser (Franz Beckenbauer) wants Rino in Bayern. Just image for a second what adding Rino to that team would do, finished? CL champions anyone? I still toss and turn at the thought of him leaving, but was reminded by a friend the other day that if Rino in his heart truly wants to leave than better to honor his request than to keep him at San Siro against his will. It is hard to swallow, and I do not wish it or want it, but it is a thought worth considering to help ease the pain.

-A big warm Milan welcome to Flamini, and congrats to Milan on a masterfully handled free transfer. When Flamini abruptly left Marseille he did so after having contract discussions with the coach at the time, so when he packed his bags for Arsenal the coached said he felt used and that Flamini had commited “beautiful treason.” Well it looks like Arsene Wenger will be repeating those sentiments as despite talks with Arsenal, Flamini is a rossoneri. I have to admit I am very happy with signing and the added depth, but in the same token am disappointed at the loss of playing time for Ambro who in the past few weeks has been playing himself straight into the national team. The nice thing about Flamini is his versatility which he honed at Arsenal, playing everywhere but striker. But this all got me thinking, Ambrosini is a defense midfielder and so is Flamini, but unlike Flamini, Ambro is a tall guy and may have the skill and desire to learn the left back position. It is just a thought but a great way to be a player full of heart and determination to good use in a spot on the pitch that needs filling. Oddo on the right, Ambro on the left, and Nesta and Kaladze in the middle, sprinkle in some Bonera and Janks and you have a fairly solid defense, its just a thought and I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

null
-Ronaldo is sorting through his transvestite hooker mess, which raises the question, if you are a famous footballer why do you need hookers? Then again why do those hookers have to part male? The saga continues… I used to root for Big Ron to get his life back in order but now I just root for him to leave. Imagine if he injured himself in the romp with on of these “paid contractors,” we would be fuming. It is time to cut your losses here Fester and sell this man to Fenerbache, the new Brazilian rest home.

I want Ramos but really not a realistic signing just a dream and as for the target man position i nominate Jo from CSKA MOSCOW i think that he can really develop into a great striker. plus he shit on inter during both legs of thier champions league tie.

Jô has proven to be a skillful, strong and pacey striker and has proceeded to score 14 goals in his first 18 appearances for the Russian club, securing his status as a fan-favourite. He also impressed in the UEFA Champions League scoring two goals in the matches against Inter Milan.

On March 08, 2008 according to Russian Newspaper Peterburgsky Metropoliten it stated English club Arsenal F.C. are reportedly looking to secure the services of Brazilian wonder kid Jô. It claims Arsenal scouts were watching him against Inter Milan where he scored two goals.

On March 17, 2008, Tuttosport linked the young Brazilian to Italian giants, AC Milan. The 7-time European Champions are looking to revitalize their aging team this summer.

I would still go for Pogrebnyak. He’ll give Milan dimensions and options not likely to be found anywhere else: Czech teams of the last 6-7 years anyone?

A - I kno how “likely” any team is to land Ramos but the Milan of old would have at least tried.

As for signing a wonder-kid, we already have Pato with Paloschi as a back up, lets put a Pippo/Amauri/Drogba/Shev player alongside him.

If u want dimension - Ribery!

Mario Gomez would be amazing.. He has physical presence and skill.. and if we couple him out with Pato.. wow :D

but then comes the problem of price..

Amauri? He’d be good.. Has experience in Italy, 27 years old, physical..

i think we need 3 world class dms to cover all our games next year. we are looking at up to around 60 games where 2 of them will play almost every game, that gives each of ambro, rino and flamini 40 games to play. we will be getting rid of emerdason and (hopefully) brocchi, too.

the only way we could get ramos is if we make him want to come here. that means using real madrid tactics to unsettle a player.

i hope we do play around half our games with the 4-3-1-2 formation. if we will have the strikers for it, why not?

i am a big fan of eto’o, but he is way too injury prone. he is guaranteed to miss a number of games due to something serious, and his next injury may well be career injury. i would seriously much rather get ronaldinho, who is more robust and not much older.

bayern won’t come anywhere near the cl trophy next year. we will not be able to get ribery from them (unless he really wants to join us), but we can get toni, who is definitely the type of player we need. and i am not a very big fan of jo.

also, we seem to be very close to capturing zambrotta from barcelona for around 8 million euros. this should solve our fullback woes for a couple of seasons.

Zambrotta has been as inconsistent as Oddo this year.. I’m not fully convinched he’d be a good signing.. :S

I’d rather we get Di Silvestri, but the problem there is that he’d Kaladze will have to switch to left-back.. so it’d be more convenient to get a left-back..

    Manuel Pasqual, Behrami, Zauri anyone?

zambrotta has been on and off, but the qualities he brings is way more of an asset than a liability.

he is the best full back in the world, no doubt about it. i cant wait utnil he joins us.

moka, kaladze will never play left back again, his position in the middle is set in stone.

if we are more or less set for CL, i say we need to make a push for lahm. the biggest problem for signing him was that he wanted some champions league football with a big team. now we are in a position to satisfy BOTH of those pretenses, we have to atleast try for him!

what i don’t like about lahm is that he is a midget. we have enough problems defending crosses and dead balls as it is, the last thing we need is another short player, especially a fullback, to make things worse.

Did any of you guys watch the first leg Barca/ManUtd tie recently??
    Zambro was on fire!

The only consistent defender this season (apart from Maldini, who has played his socks off this season) is Nesta, in the derby match he was the best defender we had and his tackling reminded me of Zambro in the CL match.

While some of our defenders were lunging in and giving away free kicks on the edge of our box in the last 10 mins! (WTF!) Nesta was cutting out runs with the surgical precision of a cancer specialist.

Nesta & Zambro will make a great defensive combo but would looove to throw Ramos into that mix!

I’d rather see us shore up our defence firstly as our last couple of matches have demonstrated that we have the fire power up front.

Avia when you got Kaka and Pato, having Ribery also is overkill, a little bit like having Ronaldinho! Pogrebnyak is a 6′5″ white Drogba type player. That’s the ‘dimension’ I was referring to.

    Diamond formation? hmmm let’s see:

    ——-Pogrebnyak
    ————————-Pato

    ———-Kaka

    —-Flamini——Gattuso

    ———–Pirlo

    Zambrotta—————-Bonera/Oddo
    ———Kaladze—Nesta

    ———-New Keeper

Not bad I reckon. Can fluidly turn to a christmas tree too.

Alessio the collar is what differentiates a classy jersey from the rest of the jersey world…I like the new kits as well especially the third kit, which they use so infrequently that it makes me wonder why it is even their. In the old days the old Milan kit was actually Yellow (Gray also a season or two) and they wore it in cup matches, but then people got upset because all these pictures were being taken and they were not traditional in the sense of red and black so good by third jersey at cup time.

    The white is nice though.

    Rino’s agent and close friend:

“Will Ringhio leave Milan? All he is thinking about at the moment is making sure that his team reaches the Champions League,” representative Claudio Pasqualin insisted.

“He has a very long contract with the Rossoneri and I can confirm that he has every intention to respect it.”

    KEEP HOPE ALIVE FOR RINO!!!

I wonder if we can get clean-tacler defenders like Nesta, Cannavaro and Maldini anymore today…

Yikes, GF. Whenever I hear statements like this it become almost certain the guy is leaving. But let’s see. He does have a British wife and is not getting any younger so he might think this is the last time for him to get a good contract in England.

    A. what i was alluding to was the “lack of dimension” we face when Kaka or Pato arent playing.

We seem to struggle when one player is out injured, all we have to do is lose Kaka or Pirlo ect and i think we become exposed. The xmas tree is too easy to pick apart if we are missing one of our main players.

The main thing i would like to see is depth in the squad for the coming season.

Gona put in an order for all three kits!

PS: does anyone know where you can get replicas of previous seasons kits??

Im dying to get my hands on our away tops from 94-97!

Trading players+cash for Amauri and then swapping him with Gilardino would be the dumbest thing ever.

I like the idea of getting us Gilardino cause he’s a Juventino and he’s talented, but not given his last year’s form.
