Tuesday Milan Musings
By: Gianfranco | January 6th, 2009January 6th has special significance in the boot. While many children await Santa Clause on Christmas Eve, Italian children await a Christmas witch, la befana, who puts presents in their shoes on this day or what many cultures celebrate as the Three Kings Day.
Enough culture and biblical references because this day holds a special place for calico fans as well, this day marks the end of the holiday season and the real start of the transfer season because no one wants to work on their holiday break. For all the media hoopla the January transfer window gets, it is always a bit more bark than it is bite.
As we all know few teams want to jettison of piece of the puzzle that may help avoid relegation or climb the table, while the best teams are looking for that gap stop player that takes them over the top. This equation leads to big teams overpaying for subpar players with a flurry of lower level players making moves that none of us even bat an eyelash at.
This year is a little different, with very few teams looking poised to make any big moves, but a few big names players looking for a new home. Players like Drogba and Tevez come to mind right off the bat, but logistical homes for them really don’t come to mind all that quickly. Sure Real and Inter could use strikers, but Chelsea are Man U don’t seem the like the types to aid CL rivals. Tevez seems like the perfect fit for Inter and the Argentine faction, but selling a top class player to your CL opponent would be unheard of.
That is where the Rossoneri come in. Tevez is a beast of a player, and though he is not the big prototypical target man he blends a pacey small striker game with the ability to hold the ball and mount an attack. In fact he is very much like a Berbatov, making Man U’s current striker all the more puzzling. I propose Fester and Co. assist Man United in solving the striker problem by making a push for Tevez. I am aware that this is highly unlikely, but for a team can use a finisher this guy can be a perfect fit to play with Pato or Marco up top.

What Milan really needs are a defender, and though it is a tough spot to fill in this transfer window, Fester has made it clear that he is shopping for left back. The associated names have been exhaustive with none of them being all that likely or possible, which leads me to wonder if in fact anyone will really come. With names like Alex, Agger, and Skrtel being tossed around, I hope the Serie A is a becoming a home to EPL cast away defenders!? We all know help is needed, but if in fact it is on the way still seems a bit far off.
I won’t go to in depth in today’s friendly because it is what it is. I would prefer Milan play well all the time, but this game was a tune up and the real boots get put on this Sunday. Vacation is over fellas, time to get back to work…

lol, oks Pera, all forgiven!
But the story originally came from the express not the star, it was followed up by a broadsheet. take a look:
To be honest, the way Milan is usually outflanked in the transfer market this might not be all that crazy!
Admitdlt, i’d rather land Agger.

Hmm, kinda funny, but the european continent has a pretty bad rep for racism amongst its fans, never heard of Pennants rap sheet so my bad!
Most of the clubs in the UK have done quite well in keeping out alot of the undesirable elements but one or two clubs still have a problem.
Im hopefully gona score tickets to watch the Rangers/Milan friendly next month but not likely to take one of my little nephews which blows as he really wants to go but likely gona have to sit with the home fans so gona err on the side of caution.

lmao!
its not that bad but just not gona fuck around whilst as ibrox, my bro (also die hard Milanista) is going with me as well as a couple of friends we are gona have to sit oh so quietly with the home support!
Would have loved Rino 2 have been there as im sure he would have received a rapturous welcome, he’s still held in high regard by alots of blue noses.
I really hope we spank them, only problem will be keeping in all my emotions as im always hyper animated when watchn the Rossoneri lol.

for me pennant is not welcome, and dinho still plays a millions times better than that guy currently, liverpool shouldn’t mind offloading agger he hardly plays. and Teves aint going anywhere for less than 32 million & knowing galliani, he aint gonna be a milanisti. plus we do have Paloschi on loan and cuffy at bordeaux if dinho’s play becomes an issue.

lol Ro thank you! I officially appoint you media director for the Kaka blog haha!
On a serious note, “Beckham can play the role of Gattuso for now, but of course, he will also provide us plenty from a technical point of view,” – Galliani.
I mean, come on! It would be a disaster if Milan play a midfield of Becks – Pirlo – Seedorf. There just has to be Flamini or Ambro to hold the midfield and support the weak defense behind them. Becks is no Gattuso. Becks should merely be a substitute for Seedorf; whoever does better in training gets to support Pirlo.

MILAN – The Rossoneri’s group will leave the Emirates on Friday morning, with the departure expected to be at 9.30am local time (6.30am CET) flying directly towards Rome. Following the landing in the capital city, Milan will have a light training session. On Saturday in Rome there will be the last training session and a press conference of Carlo Ancelotti in the middle of the day.

John Silver – i had a squiz at your article and got to say that while you did nail a good number of points (some of them my personal gripes relating to Carlo!) i thought that you maybe missed the target by saying that Pato is only now yielding results, although there are points to to raise re: Pato, his contribution has been immediate from the 1st game he played in where he was paired with R99.
I cant say i agree either that Carlo is good at psychologicaly firing up his squad, some the personal performances put in by a high number of this squad have been tellingly half-assed. I always attribute any heart-felt performances to the players themselves, who ever needs to fire up Gattuso fgs? We all know he is eating hot burning coals while the rest of the squad are lacing up their boots prior to kick off!
I too sarcastily look forward to Carlo rolling out the xmas tree formation against Roma and will likely fall out of my armchair with shock & disbelief if he tries anything different (heres hoping!).
I like your colleague Guido Sassi’s scenario of musical chairs between Ancelotti & Spalletti come next season, that is unless i spy Carlo in a Milanello restaurant first!
Nice one.

Hey guys, soz 2 keep beating this drum but my bro had been lookn up stuff on J Pennant (he usually researches any players linked 2 us) and said it was his DAD who was busted 4 being a dealer not J Pennant.
BUT he did once have 2 play a football match wearing an electronic tag for some kinda drink/drive offence, so not all good lol!
My bro showed me some stuff on utube and i got to say he would def be worth pickn up IF:
A. We get him on a free
B. Carlo knows wtf to do with himIf u watch the link below, he is the perfect answer to whenever Pirlo is getting smothered, take a look:

We are linked with this Mattioni guy. Anybody know more about him? He is also Brazilian with an Italian passport.

we are becoming a brazlian escapist colony.
enough of the brazilians already for the sake of fu*k.

Shehan I have been saying that since 2005!!!!!! It is so frustrating that we can give asylum to poor Brazilians players while we farm out young Italians. If Abate is sold to Roma, and Pennant brought in to play the wing, i will gladly crucify the managment more than I have already in the past…SHAMEFUL.

I say we dump Shev and bring back Paloschi with Cuffy also.
I really want to see more youth in this squad, as i think they will play with the kinda hunger that is sorely lacking from the current set up.
Def would like to see more italians mixed in with youngsters like Strasser, i agreed with wat Gian wrote in his post match write up, he seemd almost proud to get his debut yellow card lol!
Throw Spaletti or Wenger into the mix and i think we are cooking!

Spaletti is just as stubborn as Carletto, Wenger is an interesting choice, but the most intriguing for me is Rijkaard. Sure he has to patch things up with Ronnie, but what he did with a team full of attacking minding midfielders at Barca was some of the most beautiful football I have ever seen…

I say we dump Avia from this blog sight and bring back Jape the Ape and the guy from Norway who comments occasionally.

lol!
Oh come here $killZ, gimme a hug!
Rijkaard too would be a good choice Gian, but when u look at how badly things fell apart squad wise at Barca i do hesitate nowadays when i think about the return of an old Rossoneri legend.
I think we need someone abit more hard nosed like Wenger for example, i would prefer to see someone who will take the rod to this squad, they REALLY need it imo.

LOL Avia
and you’re right about the whole Brazilian thing…I like what Alessio said when we face Juve. Something like “You guys need to chill on the jungle fever.” It’s getting depressing really.
Thiago Silva in his interview when he went for his medical said that every Brazilian dreams of playing for Milan…now tell me that doesn’t make you want to cry?
