The First Non-Maldini Monday
By: Gianfranco | June 8th, 2009For nearly two years this space, on this day, and at this time was devoted to Paolo Maldini. Now on our first Monday post Maldini we are stuck in for the possibility of the departure of Kaka. Not but two weeks ago Maldini pipped Kaka as the future Captain of the Rossoneri, and now we wait as his trip to Real Madrid seems very close to certain….
Forgive me for not saying more in the past few days, I have taken some time to reflect on the season and recharge my batteries. I do have season ending ratings for the team and players, and a season recap on deck, but at this point there is so much going on with this Kaka business that it is not worth posting until this matter is settled. Look forward to the discussion that will potentially ensue.

with that money you can:
a- Pick up dzeko him and pato could form a pretty amazing attacking partnership for many years to come
b- pick up a creative winger like silva, sneider, or robben, all three should be relatively cheap (with them being 23, 24, and 25 years of age respectively
c- on top of that you can pick up a relatively proven promising young defender, santacroce comes to mind.
d- and lastly you could bring in a skilled yet less known player or two, and thats only with the money from the sale of kaka. Right now I wouldnt be to worried will probably end up a good move in the long run.Posted from

i’m not happy with kaka leaving unless his best years are behind him. berlo, fester will have a lot to answer for unless kaka flops. i guess time will tell.

pat, dont kid yourself, not all the money is going to be spent. From what Galliani has said we are just going to buy a striker to replace him “like we bought Thiago Silva to replace Maldini”.
Dzeko has had one good season so i dont want too much $$$ spent on him. Silva wont be cheap and Snieder and Robben are both Madrid players, Madrid would try and squeeze as much of that Kaka money back out of us as possible.
Every club knows we just got a big pay day and they’ll all try and squeeze as much of it out of us in any potential transfer

Is he going to spend and spend well or just going to fill his pockets just like any other politician.Posted from

Why all the Kaka’ hate? As far as I can tell, which by no means am I implying is the whole truth, it appears as if this decision was made mainly by the Milan brass as a way of making some money.
Many of you have immediately banished Kaka’ and labeled him a mercenary. You forget he turned down an even greater offer from Man City and before that he rubbished the rumors he was going to Chelsea back in 07-08.
I can imagine that part of him did in fact want to go to Madrid, but I believe money was the main motivation only for the Milan side. Kaka’ likely is motivated by the experience of playing in Spain for Europe’s most famous club. Even though I dislike Madrid (Blaugrana myself), I wish Kaka’ a decent time and I hope he shows the Spaniards what he can do.
But this is a good thing. Milan have received a hefty sum for player who I consider off his game and injury prone. And he isn’t getting any younger.
It’s up to the entirely fallible and dubious Berlusconi and Galliani to use the funds wisely. I hope to see two or three key additions. Not big names necessarily, but important and quality players to improve the side.

I think at most kaka has 2 or 3 years left to be able to preform like he did in 2007. If he can get back to that level im not sure. He only scored like 16 goals in all comps this season with like 6 of them being penalty’s. Its not like he is going to a squad thats any better than milan either. Madrids defence is woeful and getting worse. The midfield and upfront is way unbalanced.
It would have been nice to see him stay at milan tho.
I think one good thing is that since 2007 weve really been way over reliant on Kaka. Now we will have to rely more on a team effort and hopefully that shift in focus can help us return to being champions

One thing for sure – its a sad sad day for Serie A.
Is it possible for Milan/Madrid/Chelsea/Bordeaux to be in the same CL group ?
Well if not, I atleast hope Milan faces all of those teams somewhere in the CL and knock’s the shit outta Madrid and Chelsea.

JP he turned down an offer from Man City cause they are not a team he would win anything with. Had Madrid come with a bid then , he might have taken the offer.
Madrid came this time and as soon as Milan agreed, there was no way Kaka would have rejected because once you know as a player that your management is willing to let you go for money, the there is not much one can do by staying. You no longer are indispensible to the team.

“Is he going to spend and spend well or just going to fill his pockets just like any other politician.”
This is a stupid comment. The clubs in debt so theres no chance Berlu is going to strip money from the club. He’ll pay off a few debts, buy a player or two and get on with it.
“Many of you have immediately banished Kaka’ and labeled him a mercenary. You forget he turned down an even greater offer from Man City and before that he rubbished the rumors he was going to Chelsea back in 07-08. ”
The man city offer was only greater for the club not for kaka and i think kaka avoided chelsea cos he doesnt wana be stuck with ancelotti again. I think that it was kaka and berlu who made the decision. Im upset that kaka has said all this stuff about wanting to finish his career at milan, becoming captain and blah blah blah. and then he leaves. If he had have said he wanted the move when ancelotti left i could have had more respect, but to keep stringing us along when he clearly wanted to go was bs and disrespectful

“And where exactly will the creativity come from ??”
Who needs creativity? Inter dont. lol.
Ronaldinho and Pirlo are still there and could potentially reveal in the spot light now that Kakas gone.
I would have prefered to see Pirlo go but it is what it is.Posted from

The figure is from Channel 4:
“Milan star Kaka has agreed a move to Real Madrid, breaking the world transfer record for a reported £65m”But, as I clicked the link for to get the url to post here, the tag line changed and now says £60m.

“Its annoying, he fed us all this bs about wanting to be the captain and whatever and then he jumps ship for the money. Im sure he was half pushed out the door by Berlu and Galliani who thought they needed the money, but I feel Kaka, like Ancelotti, has been angling for a way out for some time. Hope he ends up like Sheva, just I hope he never comes back”
It is not annoying to hear a Milan supporter to say like this, this logic is shit, true shit …

But hey Ibra does get them going as without him they are headless chicken running all over the park just like it was with Roma few season’s ago without Totti on the pitch.Posted from

What was hilarious was the way Berlu and Fester were behaving with this whole deal.
They knew it was done but simply kept toying with the fans.Even Kaka – he knew what was up – should have cut the suspense and just come and said that alright , time to leave.
Oh well, just dont know why football players do what they do when it comes to transfers.

I’m gutted. We all knew it was coming, but I’m sad. I’ll miss him.
Actually, weird factor – Real are coming this summer to play in Toronto and I’m going, wonder if Ricky will do pre-season friendlies.
