My Prayers Have Been Answered

drogba

I have to say today was a ridiculously exciting day for me. As many of you know I am a huge fan of Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba, enough so to take on the responsibility of writing for the Ivory Coast Blog on the Offside sister sight, World Cup Blog. Drogba has made it very clear that the road Chelsea is going down is not very satisfactory to him, do you blame him? The Special One, Jose Mourinho, who played him and supported him, is now gone, the new manager is a puppet of Roman Abramovich and prefers Sheva, and the big wallet to support the blues is not so big anymore. The big man’s bags are packed and his love for Milan has been made known on a few occasions, even in the form of his current significant other. In case you are not putting two and two together, this means Drogba has a real chance of coming to the San Siro.

I know many of you have stated that he would not be the answer to all the problems, but look at the numbers. Drogba has scored 55 goals in the past three seasons in all competitions leading the EPL on one occasion and being very close on another. His goal scoring abilities are no mystery. He also makes things very easy for his strike partners because of the defensive cover he draws, and if anyone watched the last Chelsea Champions League against Benfica he can be a difference maker that wins matches, period.

I do understand that he does not help the team get younger, or solve the problems in the back. What he does do is give Carletto a consistent striking option in a team that is built to win now, not tomorrow. I want the team to get younger as well, but winning with the current eleven means we need help up front, in the form of a world class hitman, not a pimply faced seventeen year old. It would be fantastic if Milan could pull the trigger on this move. It would need to be very soon though because if Chelsea clears the group stages of the Champions League Drogba would be cup tied and unable to play in the 08 CL campaign.

i think he is already cup-tied for the cl this year, he could only pay in the uefa cup, assuming that chelsea doesn’t go to the uefa cup by failing to qualify for the ko stages. regardless, he would be a domestic solution only for this year.

I still would like to go after him.

Jamie he would only be cup tied if he plays outside of the group stages, to my understanding…

Gianfranco, sorry for the delayed response.

what i meant by oddo’s bad game was that he had a poor game by his standards. otherwise i agree that he had a sound game defensively. i still think donadoni dished out specific instructions to oddo to stay back.

im still doubtful, but at this point F it. we are so desperate im willing to accept anyone and try them. the thing is should we sell Gila and make a couple of $$$ ?

and another issue is how much should we pay for him, we must not forget Madrid has an open wallet policy.

he is cup tied even if he played in a qualifier for champions league…

even though its funny, i would give pato a chance before a write him off… i remember a couple of years ago, people were asking who the hell was messi, and how a 5′5 foot 17 year old would be the answer… bet those guys would be back tracking on their statements now…

It’s a rumor and nothing more. There are plenty of teams he could go to, and nothing saying milan over any other team. Nothing say’s he’ll even actually leave chelsea. Dont get so excited.

Thanks for clearing up the cup tied issue guys, and mele thanks for brining me back down to Earth. I have to admit the prospect of having one of my favorite players in the World on my team is a awesome. Remember rumors are what makes this blog what it is…

Play Drogba Pato in Coppa Italia & League games.

Play Gila & Ronaldo in CL games.

Pippo can come off the bench in all games necessary.

This is not written in stone…but with all the matches this year Drogba wouldn’t have a problem finding playing time.

hmmm.. i dont know obout drogba. I think the thing milan neads now is not a striker but some new backmen, i think once ronaldo, giladino and pato are up and running our striking departmen will be well and trully good. Nah i dont think we should get drogba, But maybe if we want to go allong the line of that kind of player we should look for someone like dosSantos!! hmm?

no way should we sell gila Fetyani, hes on the brink of a major outburst of GILAMANIA!!
