Most Boring Transfer Window EVER?
By: Gianfranco | July 12th, 2007Today Vicenzo Iaquinta, former Milan target and Azzuri hero, has stated that Juventus have done better than Inter and Milan in the transfer window. Vicenzo, I will agree with you wholeheartedly there on the Rossoneri front.
Can you believe that only signing Milan have made so far is Ibrahim Ba, yes old man Ba back in Red and Black. I mean outside of tons of rumors the Rossoneri have made no substantial moves, or even substantial discussions. Maybe I am jealous because I want scandalous Chivu type transgers, but even the Suazo debacle was solved without whimper.
The other thing I wanted to point about Iaquinta’s quote was the he only mentioned Milan and Inter as competition in Seria A for Juventus. Does this not disturb anyone? What happened to Roma and Lazio are they doomed to go back to the middle of the table, I personally think Roma is a scudetto favorite, Chris will probably hate me for the jinx, but that did not seem like a wise remark on Iaquinta’s part. I do believe that Juve will be extremely competitive next season but their depth is an issue that will be challenged by many of the Seria A clubs. Please excuse me while I go searching for a shred of dignity in the return of Ba.

Totally agreed, we have had a boring transfer window. I don’t know hwta milan are waiting for, yes we won the C.L, and that may seem like our team is fine, but do they remember what Milan went through at the beginning of the season? Granted almost half the team was injured

Great Blog by the way, I will have to link you up on my posts. I agree about the beginning of the season, it was a dark December and I called for Carletto’s head many times. I just do not agree with the plans at the moment, I hope they change because things are not looking so good.

come on, our team is waaay too experienced to let a new boy like ronaldinho upset the chemistry. if anything, he can only make it better.
and if somebody man marks ronaldo? hes been manmarked his whole life, look at his record, it speaks for itself!
barcelona have always sold for the right price too. they are like juventus, they are run like a business. and how do you suppose barcelona will pay for their 70 million euro shopping spree over the summer?? they got henry, milito, toure, and one more guy (whose name is evading my mind right now); how will they pay for it?
now i certainly dont think 90 million is a worthy price tag, but if we get ronaldinho for under 60m, it will be a great deal for us. if beckham made real madrid 300m over the course of 4 years, just imagine how much ronaldo, kaka’ AND ronaldinho can make us in the next few years…!

Milito is the other guy. Shehan I am afraid you are mentioning Ronaldo of a few years back, this Ronaldo does not have the pace to be consistently shadowed any more and it showed last season.
I worry about the very modest Kaka coexisting and not being overshadowed by a player who lost the limelight at last year’s World Cup.

gianfranco, i remember a few months ago, milan gave out some stats over the players’ fitness.
who was the fastest in the 40 yard dash in our whole team?
not kaka’, serginho, or even Maldini who still is very fast, it was the man of the moment, el gordo, ronaldo..!
it still does not register in my head right now..
i must admit that the management is putting alot of faith in ronaldo, perhaps a bit too much. but ronaldo plays best when he has the confidence of the team, and perhaps carlo and galliani are saying the appropriate things to make ronaldo realize that we do believe in him.
whatever the situation, i hope he succeeds. 7 goals and 4 assists in 12 games is an excellent start, this time he’ll have a milanlab pre-season to help him out with his fitness and conditioning; i can see ronaldo having a great season.
but i still want ronaldinho
[btw the other guy was abidal, i mentioned milito!] i am also afraid of kaka’s coexistence with ronaldinho, but you know what, kaka’ has had bigger challenges in his life, and i personally think he won’t let ronaldinho’s off the field escapades affect his values and ethics [if ronaldinho does indeed come to milan].

Shehan I am beginning to think we would make a good color commentary you being all sane and realistic and me being all brash and cynical. Nice point on El Gordo’s confidence, but the Ronaldinho thing won’t be over until Day one of La Liga and even then the rumors will linger.

Young talent has always been key at Milan, especially young Italian talent. But I agree I would much rather buy and up and coming star than an established talent becuase they are always more devoted to the club.

Is this the most boring transfer window for Milan? Allow me to answer that….. no. ‘No’ might be a surprising answer but honestly for me, my disappointment has outweighed the extreme boredom! This window was being hyped as an exciting one for Rossoneri fans. The excuse for the lack of activity last year was that we had to qualify for Europe first. This year thanks to our CL victory we don’t have that problem. Yes I know we have quality players,but once you look past our best XI we are really average. When the injury bug hits we don’t have the extra players to produce the results that are expected of Milan. Case and point, the first half of last season and many Serie A matches when we rested players for CL matches. Any way, lets just hope Milan stop thinking they are completely covered in all areas- because they aren’t- and finally buy AT LEAST someone (preferably not an old man!).
