Monday Milan Musings

By: Gianfranco | December 3rd, 2007

The return of the once and former Milan King, Andry Schevchenko is all but imminent. Chelsea has set the transfer for the former golden man at 12M (pounds) which pales in comparison to the 31M fee they paid AC Milan a few years back. Hell, Milan have not even spent all that money yet so it looks 12M of that will go back to Stamford Bridge for Sheva’s return to the San Siro. It is rumored that Sheva will even take a pay cut to be back on the Rossoneri bandwago, like a dog coming home with his tail between his legs.

I am very OK with this, even if he does not get into the first team right away it is a win-win situation for Milan. He was after all a fan favorite and an absolute monster in front of net. He will also give the squad much needed dpeth up front and allow Pato time to grow, instead of being thurst into first team action. I just hope it all goes through.

I would love this to happen. If Sheva is even half the scorer he used to be 12M is a bargain.

well well well…what do we have here. i actually love sheva, I’d be very happy to have him back and 12M is a bargain, can’t help but say “I told you so” though. he definitely has to earn loyalty of the fans back though if he were to return. i’d pretty much rejoice if this deal went through, no joke (Consistent striker, YES). honestly, why he left milan in the first place is beyond me, he fit perfectly. and i agree about giving pato time to develop, i don’t care how good he’s been in practice, he’s gonna have a ridiculous amount of pressure to perform from the start, and I don’t think that’s a good thing.

What the source of those numbers, Gianfranco? Something more reliable than Tribal Football?

People have been saying sheva will come back the moment he left. This does nothing to change my oppinion that it’s all bullshit.

Martha my numbers came from Channel 4, which is always a bit suspect, but sometimes reliable, and my family from the boot. So they may be way off, but hey it stirs the pot.

There is no better place for Sheva than the San Siro, he will have to bust his hump to earn the loyalty and respect of the club and the fans but I am all for it. By the looks of the bench every Milan should be at least in favor as well…

yeah we should set some serious limits on him.

he should get a very low salary, a max. 2 year contract (after all hes 31..), and he cannot get #7 jersey back, its pato’s…

but if hes 12m, i wouldnt mind having the sellout back…

Milan really do need Sheva that much is true, and if that price is accurate he’d be a bargin, but Chelsea will need him when the African Nations roll around

    Well.

If this is true (and I’m maintaining skepticism until I hear it from the Mighty Milan Media Machine itself), Sheva is going to have a damn lot of work to do to earn his place back. Yes, we need strikers, but we need good strikers. (We already have two, I mean three, it’s just that their skill set does not always include the ability to find the back of the net.) Sheva’s form has deteriorated so much that he is completely unrecognizable as the player he used to be, and I don’t blame that entirely on differences in the style of the English game, or in coaching. Or in back room politics, if it comes to that. If he returns and demonstrates the ability to score he once had, I will welcome him back into the fold with open arms. If he still seems unable to take a tackle, like he is at Chelsea, well, then, for fuck’s sake sell him and buy someone under thirty. Who isn’t Pato.

mind you, confirmation from the Mighty Milan Media Machine isn’t always legit. David Suazo, much? what a comical situation that was..

its too quick to blame our strikers for our lack in goals. i think its the midfield who is not supplying them with enough opportunities…

on one hand, we could use the goals, on another, this is hardly moving forward, infact its quite the opposite… instead of gettin younger we are just gonna get…

on one hand, the prodigal son will return, on another, i am not sure a lot of us will be happy to take the sell out back… that includes me…

but cant we get some one younger? please?

I didn’t give much care when he left Milan and I don’t care about him coming or not coming back. I just don’t look too highly on important players that leave Milan for cents, only to return as the prodigal son. To me, he’s just another player.

The Suazo debacle, was just that a debacle!! If Sheva does come back I say he gets his 7 back becuase he made that number what it was…
I do believe that Chelsea will need him when the African Cup rolls around but thats why they got Pizzaro, it will be an odd situation.
