Just a note on that article. It points out his obvious success in CL but also notes the Istanbul loss and Juves loss to Man U in the semis after a 2-0 away win while he was in charge. and one of the commentors pointed out our quarters loss to deportivo after winning the first leg 4-1.

While his successful stats make the case that he should be considered one of the great CL coaches, his failures suggest he should also be counted amongst the worst.

I don’t know if this was already discussed but Maldini can play against Roma.

@ Ro, good because I made some people believe that he was not going to play.

Fair points. But there are some errors and important caveats for that assessment. Firt off the errors: Juve never played Man Utd under Ancelotti, let alone losing after a 2-0 AWAY win.

In 99 they lost 3-2 at home after drawing 1-1 away in the first leg, but that was before Ancelotti got there.

Agreed that the loss to Depor is the biggest fly in the ointment of Ancelotti and in many ways Milan this past decade. It is directly comparable to Roma’s loss, perhaps even first.

Istanbul is a different matter. Milan dominated for all but 5 mins and were unlucky to concede three goals in that time against Liverpool. There was a non existent penalty awarded as well as some major supernatural luck descending on the Merseysiders.

With Inter winning the title, there is nothing to do till the season ends, except argue about Dorf,Dinho,Carlo,Berlu and Galliani. And we have been doing that all year.

A, fair enough i was quoting the article.

For the record, Juve were in the CL once during Carlos reign and finished deadlast in the first group stage

Well their 2 games for Carlo to experiment different formations with. And theres the transfer campaign.

Juve are such idiots. They had a 7 pt. lead over us,and now they are struggling to keep 3rd place of Fior. Considering that we will probably screw up our last game against Fior,Juve might well have to qualify for the CL.

There are only stupid transfer rumours right now(Kaka to Real). And Carlo wont experiment,we know that, atleast till we secure a top 3 place.

Maldini was on Domenica Sportiva tonight. They were talking about his career and the 900 games he’s played. It was a great reminiscent time but also very sad thinking about the fact that there is only two games left. He talked a little about his son Christian and Daniel. I’ll see if I can find a link to a video. He’s a very eloquent speaker, which doesn’t surprise me.

Patcook, I know that. But so did Alex Ferguson and Man Utd a few years ago. Those kind of results don’t matter as much as long you win a couple of trophies and Ancelotti is EASILY the most succesful CL manager in the 21st century.

Yeah isn’t it? one win or two ties…wait but two ties would make us tie with Fio if they won. Who would go third in case we tied the following two games?

it seems that it is becoming more and more likely that this is ancelotti’s last season.

You guys know I would prefer to keep him for the job, and I gaurantee that Chelsea will be a force to reckon with in the CL, at the very least. They are making a very, very good purchase.

But if we leaves, who do we bring in. Berlucsoni said it will be a young coach. Allegri? MVB? Rijkaard?

I would take Rijkaard over the others, even though I think he is not as good as ancelotti but is certainly better qualified than the other candidates.

Whoever this new coach is, he better be able to convince Gourcuff to return and bring some new blood to the team and coach Pato into a world player of the year player that we all know he has the potential to become. Messi came into his own under Rijkaard and even more so under Guardiola, can he do the same with Pato?

Questions, questions, questions. If nothing else, it should be an eventful and exciting summer. Although, when that period wanes of, we will realize that Ancelotti may not have given us the excitement of a management change, but was still the right person for the job.

hmm don’t know about chelsea being a ‘force to reckon with’, this season was largely touted around the press as their last chance being such an ageing squad. drogba, lampard, ballack, terry, anelka all past their best now. they say it themselves. unless there is a firesale and rejuvenation in that squad which seems unlikely given that abramovich has lost all interest and doesn’t even watch the matches anymore.

hah. This milan team has been “touted around the press” for being too old and being the last chance for such an ageing squad since 2004.

How many careers does Ancelotti need to rejuvenate before people realize how good he is at it.

One thing Ancelotti has to work on is to toss out the Christmas Tree and find the right squad to play with two strikers.

I can understand his unwillingness to play with this formation with the current squad. The ageing squad needs strength in numbers around the back line so he is reluctant to lose a defensive player in midfield.

But Milan needs to go to two up front to get the best out of Pato. He is a perfect second striker, like Shevchenko was. And with Kaka playing in the customary No. 10 position, this will be an attacking force to be reckoned with. Only that we require more agile players in defense and midfield to make this work.

Gourcuff, Flamini and Gattuso behind the front three would be great. Pirlo is becoming more and more disappointing with every game.

“Pirlo is becoming more and more disappointing with every game.”

A, this statement confused me beyond belief, was this before, after or during the run of no losses!? He was arguably spot on during that run so I am curious how one loss can start a downward spiral so quickly…

I agree. Carlo might leave. And if he does,we know who will be responsible for that. Berlu wants MVB in the hotseat.

He has been disappointing all year, Gianfranco, and apart from a couple of intermittent performances wherein he showed some good form, has been largely disappointing lately as well.

He gave the ball away 5 times in the first 10 mins against Udinese with useless little, self-indulgent, predictable chips that the whole world know is coming, let alone Serie A professionals, sadly this has been the main feature of his play for Milan this season.

And next to that, he keeps hogging free-kicks having not scored all year from one, from distances he has no business being involved in. Pato can blast them in but Pirlo won’t let anyone else take them.

I’m the only one in the world, it seems, who believes Carlo will not leave.

Milan is a family. You have to understand that Carlo is a smart man. Would he leave to be two years in a job (with no guarantee) working for … for a Russian? In a colder climate, where the ladies can’t compare, where … where there is no Pippo!

    I ask you.
