I missed the match today, but upon seeing the highlights and the goal, I only had one thought: “I cannot believe Pippo laid that ball off for Seedorf. When do you ever seen Filippo Inzaghi pass from that position/in that situation!?”

    Anyone else think about that?

@Panna: I have the same thought, damn Pippo is really… the older he is, the more creative he gets.

The balance of Serie A is making the games more exciting right now, but I somewhat worry about the change of defensive play in Italy, seeing too much goal scored these days, is defenders getting weaker, or offesive players become that much sharper, or is it because Serie A now play more open tactics?

Panna I’ll tell you what I tink and this is totally off topic now: we sit here and wallow in sorrow over Milan’s miserable season and whatnot and I don’t know about anyone else, but it completely slipped my mind that catchin up with Juventus for 2nd place was conceivable — math-wise. I didn’t expect to get that close this soon. More like after Juve-Inter and Milan-Juve. Fuck this scudetto, let the Snakes have it, I want second spot.

Now.. whaddaya ALL think of that?

completely caught me by suprise also Alishki, & when Abbiatti went down injured for the rest of the season i was almost frightened that we’d miss out on CL football again but Dida’s although not at his best has done wonderfly since returning between the post and he’s come up with some fantastic saves.. had a couple earlier today.

alishki, gotta agree. We have cut down the juve lead by 5 points in the past 2 weeks, and now the milan-juve game might have a lot more significance than just a revenge game after the beating we got earlier this season.

oh phew that’s an old link (still linked on the football page for some reason) so the bandy legged tortoise as they call him is not coming permanently.

that juve match next month will decide 2nd place by the looks of things. and the home match to roma will be maldini’s last home game

That Roma game will be huge. Maldini’s last ever game. Cant believe he wont be there next year.
Juve play Inter next week. We have Torino at home. We can go 2nd. After that we have Torino(h) and Catania(a).Win these 2,and we should more or less secure CL qualification. Only Genoa and Fior remain a threat.

If things continue the way they are now, I think we will beat Juve. Kaka might be back in full flow till then. If we get 2nd,i will feel that this season hasnt been a complete failure.

    LOL.
    to quote the Roma offside
“A terrible loss to a terrible team after a terrible performance.”

to quote, well, myself “Lazio must not be that terrible…”

Not to mention I’ve read the exact same thing on that blog after a few other big losses. At least we keep our feet on the ground here at the Milan Offside and we know when we’re outplayed by a better side and when we play poorly.

glad we came away with the win today, but to be honest, I caught the end of the first half and just stopped watching after ten min. because Milan is just playing such boring and unRossoneri-like calcio lately that I didn’t want to see them get beat… glad we won, but can’t stand the form of the club at the moment.

    agh Jape!

Been trying to keep it in but your setting me off!

Carlo AGAIN rode his luck when we were only a goal up, we came scarily close to drawing (even losing) this match

Shehan might have to explain the subs he made coz they totally threw me, why take off Pippo for Flamini??

But like Carlo, im to assume, we just pat ourselves on the back and say “A win is a win!”

Jape, they have been shit to watch recently and i hate myself for even admitting it (to myself) never mind publicly!

mike, don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house.

avia, to bring in a midfielder (flamini) for a striker (inzaghi) to protect a lead is not something revolutionary, lots of coaches do it in modern football. carlo just pulled one of the oldest tricks in the book to protect a lead. it was a good call in my humble opinion.

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/04/13/1206279/adriano-galliani-no-revolution-needed-at-milan

i couldn’;t help hbut smile when i first read it, but then i wondered what that means exactly…

    Shehan – thanks man

I understand the concept of protecting a lead but i was hoping that you could put some kinda positive spin on it tbh, its just that Carlo is usually pretty crap at rolling the dice

Leaving Pato up on his own is pretty much pointless and then Cheivo started getting back into the game and came hella close to drawing the match (maybe even winning it?) and at this point im guessing Carlo thought…….

“Hmm, maybe i should put another striker back out there?”

    ala Shevs appearance

Too many times i feel Carlo has sat idly by as he hoped a one goal lead would enough only to blow it imo

well man, didn’t want to say it, but we are seeing tuff times in the Rossoneri camp, and I feel I am among friends here and just wanted to be honest.
I do like the article above where fester says that they will bring down the average age in the club.!!! we need that. we need the hunger again!!!!!!
