if the milan veteran continue with this kind of showmanship,i belive that the youth will find it hard to challenge the veteran place, although i feels the veterans should be more consisitent.

and we are still in the title race, that’s good enough and if inter draw last nite we might see a top three going toe to toe until the end…

    lets pray Milan friends…hahaha

Gianfranco – “in case all the becks haters haven’t noticed his inclusion has led to 7 PTs in 3 matches and a top form pato and kaka”
    - are you seriously suggesting Beckham has ANYTHING to do with either the points gained or the brazilian duo playing so well? Do you not watch these matches? I’m flabbergasted…

im not impressed with becks in the last 2 matches before last nite game.
but he is doing very fine last nite.
hopefully he stays and gave us a breath of a fresh air that’s a winger.
if Carletto go out and find a skillful winger we might have a new style of football.
but the problem is berlosconi, that old men is too cheap to make big purchased.
at the end we always have to settle with 2nd and 3rd best players.
    huh….

seriously, what has Beckham done to warrant the disrespect meted out here? Yeah, he’s not Flamini or Gourcuff, but if he gets endorsements from guys like Zidane and if your own heroes like Kaka and Maldini want him on the team, what is your problem? Is there something you know about Beckham that those guys don’t? I’m not saying he’s the greatest ever, and I’m well aware of his limitations (not the most creative, not a dribbler, not that fast), but the man works harder on and off the pitch than most guys out there – and the fact that he has played for the most successful teams in the three biggest leagues in Europe says something about him.

There are contributions that a player can make to a team that go just beyond what he does with the ball on his feet – unseen contributions. Players whose work-rate can inspire their teammates to work harder are valuable, even if they are not the most skilled around. That’s why Capello is on his nuts and probably helped orchestrate this Milan move, and still wants him around on the England squad. And for all the Spice Boy business off the field, he leaves it off the field and out of the locker room. What a man does in his free time is his own business.

In addition, have any of you noticed how well we’ve been playing lately? Not just in terms of results, but the quality of the football product on the pitch. The team is improving, as I’ve been saying, even with the “old guys” on the pitch. Milan is 3 points behind Inter, a team that’s been vanquished before and is stumbling right now. This current squad is good enough to at least make the Champions League, and CL was the minimum goal for a year which was more or less a rebuilding/transitional year anyway.
    Where’s the optimism guys?

We are six behind Inter. And Beckham’s done decently. No problems if he plays like he did in the second half yesterday.

Lastly, to put some perspective of the Gourcuff issue:

He started 18 games in his first season (06/07), and came on 15 times as a sub. 32 matches played, including 8 in the Champions League. Compare that with Inzaghi’s 39 matches played in the same season (23 starts, 16 subs). Pirlo started 41 and came on once (42 matches played). In other words, Gourcuff’s play time in his first season was comparable to that of first team fixtures.
Let me rephrase that for some of you. Gourcuff got only slightly less play time than automatic starters in 2006-07. 32 matches is plenty of time to “gain confidence” etc. I watched many of those games – he played alright, I saw the potential, but you won’t find many of his highlights on youtube. His impact did not warrant automatic selection (2 goals, 3 assists).
The following season saw his play time seriously diminish – 4 starts and 14 subs. I watched 6 of his games live in person. He was ineffective, lost the ball frequently, and was always trying to impress rather than make the incisive pass. He flat out sucked. Yeah, we all saw his potential, but he just did not play well. And it certainly says something about him to go from playing 32 games to playing 18 the very next season (without injury, drug ban, or any external cause).

I feel that all this “shoulda had cuffy” business is simply 2020 hindsight. When he was here, he was played a lot, especially in his first season. He wasn’t rotting on the bench the way Flamini is. He had a lot of play time, and he just wasn’t very good. Especially when you compare how Kaka and Pato (hotshot attacking players) played when they first arrived. Given his skill level, he was held to a high standard, and for whatever reason, failed to deliver. The guys he was supposed to displace played better than he did (Seedorf probably had his best season ever in 06/07). And Carlo couldn’t have known how much Seedorf’s game would drop this season.

Fact is, Gourcuff was an absolute disappointment given what he was capable of doing. My thoughts are that he just wasn’t confident enough in himself to handle competition for a starting spot against CL winners, and his mental game was completely off. Some guys can swim right away if they are tossed in the deep end, like Pato, others need some time in the shallow end first. In Carlo’s place, I would have loaned cuffy out too.

Pato was good. (good movement hungry and doesn’t stop running)
Abbiati was better. (He had to be, cause our defence was leaking like a straw house get pissed on by
10 leprechauns and the lead leprechaun (Di Viao) didn’t run out of piss. He was deserved another goal)
    Abbiati was excellent.
Senderos = CRAP…i’ll leave it at that!
Kaka was priceless. He showed why he can’t be sold or replaced. He owned that game set up or scored all goals except the last and that third goal was vintage Kaka.

    Ambro played well.
Becks is ignoring all the critism and is just letting his actions on the field so the talking. He has a high workrate and does his job well. If he keeps this up i’ll have to eat my words about him.

My boy Ronaldinho better start working much harder in practice cause he’s gonna find himself on the bench more often than not…and deservedly so.

We got Genoa on Wednesday…could be trick so I hope we can play as a team and with the same intensity as we did vs Bologna.

Last point…Seedorf’s goal made his performance look better than it really was. (Although by his standards he played well. He still loses the ball waaaay too much)
His performance bought him another 5 starts no questions.

    @Shingai – It’s not a matter of hindsight being 20/20.

When Gourcuff came to Milan he was 20 yrs old. Playing on a new team a world class team where the standard of play is very high. The pressure to play well and impress to earn a starting spot would have been huge.
Not to mention he wouldn’t have been anywhere near the skill level that he is now nor where he will be in 4 – 5 years.

Saying he sucked is too harsh IMO…Seedorf sucks and will not get better. 06/07 Gourcuff was just young and inexperienced.

The correct thing to do the following year would have been to continue giving him the minutes he was getting previously cause logically he would only get better…not to mention the ENTIRED TEAM SUCKED last year Seedorf Pirlo even Gattuso all had garbage years. Yet Ancelotti had Gourcuff’s ass super glued to the bench and watched Seedorf, Pirlo and co lead us to an oustanding 5th place in the league. Patience was and is what is needed with players like Gourcuff.
Having said all that loaning him out was the right move if our stupid coach didn’t know how to get the best outta the kid. The only more stupid that not playing him enough was not realizing the talent and potential the kid has and slapping a ridiculosly low 15 million price tagg on him which proves they seriously misjudged the kid’s ability.

15 million price tag for Gourcouff is Fester`s “masterpiece”.How much Inter paid for Muntari and Quaresma? City for Bellamy? … and the list goes on.

    i dont agree with BigDawg…
for me seedorf is the director of last nite show…
he’s very steady and look like he have gain his confident back…
the only problem is seedorf is not consistent enough…
play one fine game like last nite and screw up in the next game…
we have already get used to this situation
it happened to all of our old legs superstars..

in the gourcuff matter posted by shingai…
shingai i agree with your opinion 120%…
gourcuff is not good enough for us…
his problem is just the same…
    consistency…
he is playing well at france but to be honest, bordoex should be at the serie b standard..
he dont have much pace,i still remember in the 2006-07 season when he got recovered from injury and Carletto bring out kaka to make way for him in the 2nd half but he loooks even slower than zidane,he might argue of his fitness level and injury but i have never seen any player run that slow and got kick by the opponent players..
since then all the ‘new zidane’ hype about him as the ‘new zidane’ is pure bullshit for me…
then samir nasri is being label as ‘new zidane’ but i never seen him plays a good game outside marsille…
now its ben affa time to have wear that title…
the bottom line is the overrating is done by the sport journalist of france to get some attention about their league…

but the best thing is the rumors about ribery coming to milan…hahaha…
i knoww that’s just a rumors but can u guys imagine that??? we will have the best midfield palyer put under one roof…ambro, gattuso, ribery, pirlo, kaka, ronnie…
    wow…hahaha…
but again it will be just a dream bcoz berlosconi will take the credit crunch problem as the reason of not to spend big…
he have 10 billion in his bank account but he never spend big in the last three season…
adebayor is too expensive, benzema is too expensive…bla..bla..bla..

we need his money to rectify certain things…
we dont play badly but just look around, totteham, fenerbache, shaktar, and man city is spending more money than us…
this is all mid table team but their chairman is not afraid too invest…
if only we bought super fine players then we will see the change, altough like i said we dont do bad at all…

    later…

mohammed, Romans are claiming that title on Menez, who is has shown ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Everyone wants the new Zidane, but here is only one. Gourcuff is certainly the closest in terms of potential and style of play, but he has a long long long way to go to live up to the standard of one of the best to ever play the game. Granted I would much rather he do that at Milan, but only time will tell on that one.

i dont think seedorf was that good yesterday either but he got a goal and an assist and even though he gave away the ball too much he worked harder than he has done lately and the alternatives to him are not in great form either. pleased to see how well kaka and pato have played together lately, kaka said every game and practice session is another chance to improve their understanding.

@Mohammed – Seedorf is utter crap…we’ve just smelled it so long that were used to it. He has one game like this in 5. But he always seems to get the nod from Ancelotti and its only now that fans are coming around and see that he suck ass.
Everyone knows he loses the ball far too often, and gives up on plays when he’s fouled and doesn’t get the call. He’s also slow and his passes are garbage most of the time.
Regarding Gourcuff – If you’re gonna slam/dump on Gourcuff saying he isn’t good enough for Milan, there is NOOOOO way in heck that you can defend Seedorf.

Check their stats for the two years that Gourcuff was at Milan. You’ll see that there is not really any big differnce except in games played. Yohann took his chances and did well considering his age and that he had to adjust to a new system and compete with Ancelotti’s golden boys for a spot.

When Shingai compared Gourcuff’s game played to Inzaghi’s that is not quite fair as they play different positions, and one is a seasoned veteran and goal poacher, the other a rising star who plays the midfield.
I do agree that he made mistakes when he was here at Milan but he never made mistakes that costed us games, nor was he IMO as bad as Seedorf.

It’s amazing that people excuse Seedorf’s lack of consistancy, when it’s really much more than that (he’s garabe MOST of the time), then turn around and dump on Gourcuff then a 20/21 year old kid for not being consistant, and stating that he’s not Milan material. No wonder why we’re called te retirement home…if the kid is not Pato they can’t break in the team.

Check their stats for those two years…they are very close, when in fact Seedorf’s should be waaaaaay better for the minutes that he got on the pitch just to lose the ball.

    Amazing!!!

if milan have a face they should turn down that 15 mil bid for cuffy, he is the future and should be brought back, and by the way i love and admire beckham i just dont want him to stay he is taking up space..ill admit he was been very influential to the team, but prior to that he didn’t do much. once his loan expires he should go back.

They don’t have the right to turn down the bid.

The option to buy his registration at that price is part of the loan deal.
