Maldini Monday

By: Gianfranco | March 9th, 2009

He always does everything with class, even when responding to Jose Mourinho.

“I don’t really want to prolong this exchange of insults,” Maldini said in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“After all, it seems like Mourinho was harsher towards Juventus. But I just want to say that it doesn’t work well for him when we look at trophies won.

“As far as I am concerned, during my years at Milan for every trophy he has lifted I have won five.”

Yea think about it. 4; Pirlo, Becks, Flamini; Kaka; Pato, Pippo.

That sounds good, especially considering how Kaka and Pippo play really well together. Then there’s the on-form Pato to support. Pirlo, Becks with their beautiful passes. Flamini with the impressive work-rate to chase the ball around for 90 minutes. What do you think?

Then when we’re leading, introduce Ambro or Janks in the midfield instead of Pippo or Pato.

Then, of course, when there’s 3.5 seconds left, tell Viudez and Cardaccio to warm up. ;)

The formation I suggest is based on form. Pippo’s done well the past few weeks. Against Inter, he was impressive, then he got a goal against Bremen, and yesterday a hat-trick. That merits a start, no?

I don’t want to see the x-mas tree unless Pippo does miserably b/c we can’t afford to have 2 attacking midfielders coming back from injury, 1 of whom can barely run.

    (sorry for the multiple posts)

Also, Pippo always tends to hit top form towards the end of the season. Remember last year? 10 goals in 5 games or something? :D

    @Walinyunsa.

I tried that, my wife opposed. Perhaps I can sneak in Paolo as a second name if we ever get another son. I almost got Ainoa Callum Milan. My wife noticed the A.C. Milan. Ainoa is a girls name anyway.

Lol, sweet words as usual from Maldini as usual.

U know when he said these words they were said with that familiar smile across his face, with no anger, but with a certain authority Mourinho WISHES he could encapsulate!

Im STILL laughing at the Mouthy One after he he refused to shake Fergie’s hand after the recent match and his reasons for this lack of mutual respect??

“My dug-out is a special dug-out” ahahahahaha wtf! a “special dug out” for the “special one” hahahaha

Mourinho & Inter are douchebags, Maldini just indirectly reminded them of that and put Jose in his place. Moka im definately with you on Veloso I’ve been calling out to see him at Milan for ages now. @ASL I’d name the kid Paolo whether my wife approved of it or not lolz.

fg – the Mouthy One was taking a swipe at the rest of the teams in calcio basically and name dropped Milan in his verbal barbs.

btw pppl….remember last year galliani had showed a firm interest in veloso…..it was said that he will make a move for milan next season….i hope he does….but the thing is where will we put him….??? veloso is defensive minded…so is gatuso and flamini….we cant have a midfield of soo many defensive minded players…i do remember flamini playing alongside gattuso….but 3 def minded players will be too much….

remember only 11 on the field :D

syed unlike Gattusso and Pirlo, Veloso is a midfielder that posseses both a creative attacking spark while lacking nothing in the defensive compartment also. he would be a great buy and a good alternative to Pirlo but since nothing is concrete yet i doubt he’ll arrive anytime soon.

Interestingly enough, when I started to watch Milan Atalanta game and saw Pato at Pippo as an attacking partnership, I was quick to comment to my son that the way things look, Shevchenko beside Pato will be much fruitful then “born offside” Pippo – the guy just can’t hold the line – and right after that Pippo scored. Congratulations to Pippo for being a class act today, but I would have preferred Sheva, Pato partnership.
For those who saw the game: did you see Pippo frustration when Becks omitted him time after time, passing to Pato or to wings instead? It happened because Inzaghi was sitting in that offside position, and Beckham, being an intelligent player, was able to see that. Just for that I would keep him until he retires, because apparently everybody else, Pirlo included, run on automatic mode and pass forward with complete disregard to Pippo’s position. Unlike Pippo, Sheva won’t disrupt Milan’s attack with unnecessary offside calls, and can actually be a provider and combine well. His willingness and quite determinations to be on this squad is remarkable, and if this stretch of injuries continues I would like to see Shev starting ahead of Pippo, disregarding stupid claims, etc. We have Becks now, and we actually enjoy his services very much, but imagine LA Galaxy fans feelings, and stop being hypocrite.

Simple: if we all wanted Pato & Borriello partnership, who fits better Sheva or Pippo to replace unlucky Borriello?
But it is Carletto’s decision, and Sheva is waaaaaaaay down in his pecking order list.

Maldini is and always was a class act. I liked how he came to Viudez at the end of the match all smiling that sad smile and hugged him.

Actually, his words were describing the media coverage he didn’t like, he was probably actually trying to deflect that coverage from the players to himself, but whatever you want to believe is fine too.

From penalties, hand balls and “ghost goals” more likely… I guess Moratti have a nice collection of “extravagant” material from the Calciopoli investigation period to hold every official by the balls. There no explanation otherwise… Its at least 10 fucking points just laying over here.

theres a little bit of malice at the end of that. Plus I think Mourinho would be happy to hear his opponents pointing to past glories.

should have left it at “I don’t really want to prolong this exchange of insults”

responding to mourinho in any way is exactly what he wants because the media focuses on the verbal back and forth rather than his team.

Id like to see the other managers ‘blacklist’ him and refuse to respond to anything he says. It would be interesting to see how he responded

Chubby – ive been pining to see Shev do well but he’s used up all the grace i was willing to give him on his return

I get the points made before regarding positioning etc and i dont any think anyone is gona argue with Pippos “offside syndrome”

But the guy pretty much handed us a win single-handedly!

“Sheva won’t disrupt Milan’s attack with unnecessary offside calls, and can actually be a provider and combine well”

that is true but if you watch Shev imo, he drops waaaay to deep to get a hold of the ball and then seems to struggle to get the ball into the box and on the occasions he does he seems to aim the shot skyward(or right AT the keeper!)

hence my belief of why he’s rightfully down the pecking order

Sheva moves like a comatose elephant atm. I dont know how youd fix that. I guess he just needs to be given some game time and faith and maybe he’ll overcome all his current issues.

not getting n e younger tho

I dont think hell ever be good enough again and I think sheva and ancelotti have a few personal issues which might explain the hissy fit
