Maldini Monday
By: Gianfranco | February 23rd, 2009Samuel on Maldini…
Maldini, for me is the best man to have ever loved this club, Never in my few years of watching Football have i seen a man that embodies so many postives in this sport. His class, commitment, humble personality and attitude on the pitch are always of the highest standard. He is 40 this year yet he plays like he recently turned 20, So here’s to you our faithful Servant of this club for 24 seasons Paolo Maldini. all the domestic sucesses and 5 C.L wins achieved under your Era are throughly deserved.

Well said! Not only does Maldini play the game to such a technical standard but he does it all also with the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship. He’ll be sorely missed when he leaves the playing field for good.

Thanks A, Maldini is quite the legend. whenever he gets out on the pitch with our jersey on the man always gives 100%, and what i like about Maldini the most despite seeing him putting in so many great performances every time he plays is his humbleness. the man is a class act i wont know how to take watching Milan next year without the legendary #3 at the back.

I watched the match with my girlfriends stepfather who has never watch a game in its entirety. He was hooked on the game, the quality of the match was poor, but what stuck out to me was his quick notice of Maldini, and how he looked so graceful and effortless. when I told him how old he was, his jaw dropped, and though Paolo’s face and movement off the ball is starting to show its age, his movement with the ball has not…

Ancelotti just has to leave. i love the guy and admired his tactics over the past 7 years, even though there were more than a few mistakes but there was also more than enough silver ware and victories. and deciding to join a team like Ivory Coast is nothing to me but a genius idea and i hope that Carlo can show even more of his work there and im sure he will succeed.
PS. take Dorf with you as your pet.
we dont hate you, but when the time is up you should know before us and leave with respect. thats how things work. even Sacchi & Capello left when they knew it wasnt right. just dont let it drag for longer, and us the fans will be the ones who suffer the most.

ronan, its somewhat a mystery and i heard a couple of things, but if anything its probably because (if i remember the story correctly, heard it from a commentator many years ago) in New York or somewhere in the States he had a basketball coach who called him Billy and it picked up. heard other stories similar but without the States.

ANOTHER Maldini Monday???
Everytime i see one, its another reminder that we are counting down, (sigh)
Samuel – “Maldini, for me is the best man to have ever loved this club” nicely summed up man!
Fet – totally agreed on Carlo, its not hate wanting him to go, its just right!
Check this article in which he talks his best & worst moments
Gian, take a gander man, he makes some interesting points about roma which im pretty sure you’re gonna love, i know i did!

Ronan – lol! I’m sure the “Billy” question is asked regularly on a 8th month cycle!
My take on the Billy nickname was “allegedly” that Mr Costacurta was/is a big fan of an Milan basketball team (and was always seen wearing their tops) who were sponsored by a company called Billy(?)

whats ridiculous that considering the squad we had there were a lot of people on the board who said that it didnt matter what carlo does as long as he brings home the points since we were missing so many players. Yet, he does that and you guys still bitch about him.
I cant accept that milan faithful at the stadium booed ancelotti. 9 major pieces of silverware in 7 years should have earned more than that. We arent inter. We shouldnt be booing our own coach let alone players. We should be getting behind them. The same goes for seedorf. Many of you think he is slow and disinterested. Most of you wanted him dropped in january 2007. How wrong were you when we played in Munich? How wrong were you when we played against Man United?
I am not saying that I agree with everything ancelotti does, hell man united and liverpool supporters dont agree with every decision their coach has made either, but you will mostly hear them say “well, in Fergie/Rafa we trust” at the end of every disagreement. Wish this culture could transfer over to italy.
Carlo has given enough to this club to get a little more respect than he is getting. So has seedorf.
And all the people who wanted viudez to play. Just coz he is young doesnt mean he should play. Just coz he is young doesnt mean he is good enough, yet. Performing in a youth tournament does not equal good enough for Milan. And I dont believe in all the “ancelotti cannot develop youth” arguments. Kaka, pato are two prime examples. Ancelotti isnt bad at developing youth talents. He is, however, not very good at developing immature talents. And by immature I mean misbehaving and pouting kids. For example, Ancelotti would not do well with balotelli. But he is exceptional with talented, serious and driven young players. He will do fantastic things with paloschi. Lets also not forget that paloschi got a decent amount of playing time at Milan. There is a reason he played him and not Gourcuff.

and believe me, i am not impressed with seedorf’s form either. But booing him isnt going to help anything.
