there are some stories around that maldini and milan have a dispute over the wages if he continues to play for another year. apparently, they offered him 1 million euros for the season, which would make him the lowest paid (even lower than favalli and brocchi)!!!

yeah, i actually just read that this is an outrage maldini is the capitano and he should be respected and admired enough to be payed more than anyone else on the squad for what he has done for milan!

News just keeps getting worse…
Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will be Jose Mourinho’s top target once he takes over the Inter hot seat, according to The Sun. Nerazzurri owner Massimo Moratti is reportedly ready to match the mega £24m fee Chelsea splashed to land Essien from Lyon three years ago. Chelsea are expected to put up a fierce fight to keep the popular ace, but with his old boss at Stamford Bridge beckoning it is thought that the Ghanaian international would be willing to make the switch.

Rino’s change of heart…
Azzurri midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is dreaming of the Milan captain’s armband, but he hopes Paolo Maldini will wear it for a little while longer.
There was intense speculation that Gattuso would leave the Rossoneri after last season’s disappointing fifth-placed finish and he was linked with Bayern Munich.
But Rino instead committed himself to Milan with a contract extension that should ensure he sees out his career at San Siro, possibly as club captain.
“I hope that Maldini continues his fantastic career, but it would be a great honour to be captain,” he told FIFA.com.
“I haven’t set any limit for how long I will play for and I hope that I will able to carry on for a long time.
“Even though I sincerely want to see Paolo on the pitch, I hope that one day in the future I will wear the captain’s armband.
“Milan has had a special place in my heart since childhood and it would such an honour to follow in the footsteps of Maldini and Franco Baresi.”
Gattuso also revealed that he had considered quitting Milan after the Diavolo’s heartbreaking Champions League Final defeat against Liverpool in 2005.
“After the incredible loss to Liverpool I was confused and it hung over me for a long time,” he explained.
“Fortunately, the Coach and my teammates were able to motivate me again and I rediscovered the will to win. It was great that we avenged that defeat in Athens.”
Looking ahead to next season, Gattuso is hoping for some new blood to strengthen the Milan ranks.
“To be strong we need two youngsters,” he said. “This isn’t the end of a cycle, we will be competitive.
“You can’t write off a side that have won the Champions League and the Club World Cup so recently.”

So Corrire Della Sport also mentioned that Milan are offering Maldini half the salary he was getting, resulting in the likely event of him retiring now.
i still dont believe it!!

I think Maldini Monday can stay a tradition for 3 years and you won’t have trouble finding good vids.. A true legend..
I dunno about the Maldini salary stuff, but worst news today, Chiellini tackles Cannavaro and now the latter might be out for the Euros!!

Fetyani I dont believe it either, I mean can you imagine!? It makes absolutely no sense.

First hope is Canna recovers.. If not, Nesta comes out of retirement..
Both very unlikely..

lippi just ruled himself out of a milan job anytime soon or the future, so that option is exhausted.
he wouldve been the only coach id accept is level with carlo, but now that hes said no, carlo must/will stay.

I agree Shehan.
Other than Carlo, Lippi is the only other coach I would want.
I absolutely do not want a foreign coach, either, such as Rijkaard.Posted from

The nerve! Honestly…have they lost their minds? Paolo has served us brilliantly for 23 odd years…he is IL CAPITANO, he bleeds red and black.
Speechless. I simply refuse to believe that they would do such a thing.
Yeah, the Mourinho news sucked already, since I like Mourinho. That brings the total of Inter people I like to two (Ibra as well). Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even worse if Essien comes over…

inter is stacked with so many defensive midfielders, for what possible logic would they want essien?
vanity.

i dont think Nesta will go back, short notice + he said he’s done even after many people tried to get him back. Paolo to make a comeback lol
the thing with the reports regarding Maldini, it was yesterday on Mediaset and today in Corriere. but im positive no such thing can happen. the scary thought that entered my mind, IF! IF! this was to happen, id assume Paolo will say okay no problem ill retire better than to cause any problems with me and the team and the fans. he is Milan, after all if you arrange the letter in Maldini it also spells Di Milani! coincidence?! i dont think sooo. That name has been and hopefully will be going on, from 1954 till now over half a century and hopefully Christian will make it to 75 years then pass it to his kid to complete a 100.
