As of this morning, Pirlo came in a VERY CLOSE second(ONE VOTE), with Nesta being the leader of the write in vote.

Rino Gattuso is my favorite footballer of all time. He is my idol. If i could be like any person in the world, it would be him. No lie.

yah ive seen a couple of great Maldini family pics, and i think i know the picture you’re talking about. one i really liked but cant seem to find, is all 3 Maldini’s playing soccer together, Cesare, Paolo & Christian.
Good News. Ricky Kaká was subjected to an x-ray test today. The exam gave a negative result. Kaká only suffered a strong contusion following Milan-Palermo.
Nice video ro. Personally i kinda agree with you, about Paolo & Rino, more of favorite 2 players. but we can never forget Il Capitano Franco Baresi. i only witnessed his late years, but with Paolo from fairly the beginning of his stardom and Rino from the beginning scratch.

why should Ringhio be captain, not Pirlo.

fetyani, i read that at the ac milan website, but i am just not sure if by negative they meant nothing there… the geniuses translating the website do not always do a great job and methinks that they may have meant that the test was “positive” which would basically mean that it is a negative result(one that we dont want)… i hope that you are right and i am wrong, but the translators at acmilan.com dont exaclty inspire faith in their linguistic abilities…

k, yah they mean negative as there wasnt anything there. again, if there was anything they would have mentioned Galliani’s stroke too. and yah the translation sometimes can be bad, but usually doesnt change the context.

I never really say baresi either that or I was to small to remember him.

I remember watching Baresi’s farewell game. i watched the game with some old milanisti, i’ve learned more about him from hearing stories more than watching him. and i remember i was saying thank god its not Maldini retiring, and now sadly its his time =(
i could never imagine Baresi crying, but when he did in the farewell game i was shocked. now im saying i cant see Maldini crying, but you never know. watch from minute 2:30 http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=hUVJ_rzkpnY
Just a small clip that tells you dont even joke with Ringhio, you will get hurt!! http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=DohPS9U4Hoo

I am surprised Kaladze has not got a mention. He plays at centre back, is an automatic choice, has been one of the stalwarts in recent times and is the most senior of the candidates after Ambrosini.

Maldini is pure class, and having plied his trade alongside Baresi has helped shape him into the stellar defender he is today.
I can remember the Baresi days (showing my age here) and he was the complete defender. In interviews whenever Maldini is asked who HE rates as a defender the guy he always mentions is Franco Baresi.
To have Baresi AND Maldini in defence was the equivalent of a steel vault door on goal, i still remember the Baresi era fondly (Avia gets all misty eyed) we went an entire season with out losing a match, and i forget how many matches we once went without even conceding a goal, it was something crazy like 10 whole matches, thanks in part to Rossi (one of our best ever keepers and the steel door defence i mentioned earlier).
Thats why im more critical of our current defending than anything else, and the day we lose Maldini, its REALLY gona hurt, i just feel we will be naked in the back!

Avia you forget that those two gentleman shared a back line with Billy Costacurta, very underated, played fantatic in his prime, as well as guys like Tassotti. Maldini and Billy were also blessed with Marcel Desailly, the defensive pedigree at Milan has always been stellar. It it is hard to find backlines more menacing the ones at the nice side of the San Siro.

Ok, I totally agree with Gattuso being captain, he’s my favourite player ever. BUT, he’s publicly said he feels Ambro is the next captain, do we think he’ll actually take the armband if it’s given to him?
Also, I wonder if they’ll have an exhibition match for Maldini. Euro will be coming up, CL final at the end of May… but I’ll be in Italy so I’m hoping!

Gattuso is humble, but put yourself in his shoes, if someone gave such an honor/distinction how could you turn it down?

avia it was when they were training with the azzurri…they knocked materazzi to the floor and they all started kicking him

ro, this one? http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=hbKJd_64toA
As for Catania’s game. Kaladze, Nesta, Janko & Pirlo are out. Seedorf is in the squad but may start from the bench. Kaka out for both Catania & Lazio, and maybe for Arsenal too. Carletto “I believe that he will be there, but right now we’re not sure”
Milan probable line-up according to La Gazzetta: Kalac; Oddo, Bonera, Maldini, Favalli; Brocchi, Emerson, Ambrosini, Seedorf; Pato, Inzaghi

what about paloschi and gourcuff? at least gourcuff should start this match after his performance on sun

Switzerland

i would like to see gourcuff pato and palsochi in attack… that would be new and refreshing and most of all, will make our attack unpredictable… which is exactly how it has been in recent times and which is why we have had trouble breaking down smaller teams

K your point about predictability is excellent, Milan especially in the Serie could benefit from a bit of a shake up, and Sam he has earned it in my eyes as well.

that’s something like it fetyani thanks…I guess he likes to pick on materazzi a lot…the one i’m talking about their in a gym and everyone joins in
