Chiellini’s slidetackles reminded me a lot of Maldini.

Chiellini for me was as hybrid of Baresi and Maldini, very impressed with the kid and was easily the best player of the tourney for Italy.

while roma fans are going gaga over DDR and aqui , juve fans havent gone about boasting of chiellini who was easily the best player in this tournament. Class!!

“while roma fans are going gaga over DDR and aqui”
Yeah, according to them, we lost because we didnt have the creativity of Totti

That game was the worst game ever.. CLEARLY it was fixed.. I mean WTF!! That video makes me more angry than ever!!!!!
Sorry, but it just makes me despise South Korea.. No offence to Koreans here..
To think they deserved to get to the last 4 is absurd.. Look at how ignorant the refs were..
F*** that..

Chiellini was fantastic! Best Italian player of the tournament, no doubt..
and Panucci is SHIT!!!!!!!

Did Maldini retire after WC02 or did we just cut him out of the plans?

the only thing that really broke my heart in the Italy game is seeing Pirlo crying like that, right away i had a few terrible flashbacks. anyway, tough luck to you guys, but you still are the world champions.
KJ, he retired. they tried so hard to get him back in euro 2004, and there were rumors in 06 too.

that is the most emotion i have ever seen from pirlo. he is usually cooler than the other side of the pillow. thats heart breaking, if we had him we certainly wouldve won the game.

KJ, he retired. I’m pretty sure Trappatoni tried to call him up for Euro2004 and even Lippi for WC2006 but he declined.

I’ve always said Pirlo was my favorite non-Juventino in the world. Unbelievably talented, classy, and a great guy even if he looked asleep half the time. Very sad to see him like that.

Alessio you are correct on Maldini and Trapattoni, however I am not sure about Lippi calling him in 06 though it would have been spectacular!
KJ, Roma fans dont get it all that much, Totti is good for Roma, but has never done all that much for me in the Azzurri shirt.

Just seeing Pirlo like that makes me want to cry, who knows where on Earth Rino was and what he was smashing because he is not in any of the pics…

it’s not good to see Pirlo in that state, it’s been a long season and he looks as if he’s really had enough.

Thanks for the Pirlo images. That’s why I always buy a Milan or national team jersey with Pirlo on the back. How stupid to not reset yellow cards after the group stages! Here’s to hoping he gets some much needed rest now. Would his presence have made a difference? Probably not before PKs with Toni flubbing every chance (another clear header!) or getting in everyone’s way (why the stupid bicycle with Grosso backpost?!) but a PK lineup of Andrea-Grosso-Cammo-Panucci-ADP probably would not have missed. Anybody else feel right away that DDR and DiNatale were going to flub? Painful, especially to Spain.

Great pics guys, i have the same fone as Pirlo!
I have to echo peeps opinion on Chiellini, fot he great.
But last nights match was pretty pants, only just beaten by Germanys final group match against the Austrians.
If you are honest Italy were lucky to get past the group stages and didnt deserve to go any further.
It has been the worst i have seen them play in any comp. in my memory.
Here’s toasting Lippi!
Gian - I know u dont think Lippi would have made a difference, but i have to disagree.
The old master would have taken Pippo for starters, and would have prepped the formation better and would have responded with substitutions better than Doni did when things werent going our way.

And someone Pleeeeeeeeease shut up Galliani!
With all this huffing and puffing over Adebayor (who isnt all that imo) to probs end up signing no one!
God i want to wake up tomorrow to read headlines that Milan have secured the services of Arshavin! (and a decent defender also).
Amen!

mmm Avia Arshavin said he wants to go to Spain!!
and Lippi would NOT have started without Grosso, De Rossi and Chiellini..

I didn’t actually start registering that we lost until I saw Andrea…then I lost it. Broke my heart. Bless him, I hope he can keep his head up during this difficult time, he’s still my favorite player alive. I just shake my head when I think that the poor man only has 3 weeks of rest until pre-season starts.
Fetyani, very amusing pictures with Rino. Haha, I love how he bursts at DDR too.

Some news:
- Galliani said 7 strikers aren’t coming.. Basically everyone we’ve been linked with except Adebayor..
- I really really don’t think Adebayor will come.. He wants Milan.. Arsenal hate Milan after Flamini.. It just doesn’t add up..
- There was a mail sent to Galliani and Berlesconi with some bullets, demanding them to make a big move in the transfer market..
- Scheiwenstiger (sp?), is a target for 2009-2010 when his contract runs out.. Dream on Fester, you idiot..
- I’m still waiting for the day I wake up to the news that we’ve signed someone BIG!

Could you imagine a line-up with Drogba, Pato;Kaka; Pirlo, Flamini, Gattuso;Zambrotta, Maldini, Nesta, Jankulovski? Would there be a better line-up in Italy than that? How about Europe?
Yea, sadly, Drogba is just wishful thinking..
