Saturday Morning Hangover, What Happened to Silvio
By: Gianfranco | January 26th, 2008
What happened to you Silvio. There was a time when you were the only guy I wanted as an owner of my sport’s teams. You went around splashing cash buying up guys like Weah, Boban, Desailly and Sheva, mixing them with homegrown talent to make some of the strongest teams in Euro. Then you bought Italian talent like Pirlo and Gattuso furthering an already strong squad to win the CL and the scudetto in back to back seasons. Then something went wrong, maybe you lost a bet, had to pay alimony, or lost your embezzling cash cow of the Italian presidency, but in the process you lost hold of the one thing you were really good at, spending money. Instead you have turned your attention to high priced has been’s, I can not even name them all, but it is hard to not mention Cafu, Emerson, Rivaldo, Ba, Vieri, Crespo, and the list can always go on.
We went from having a winning eleven who all started for their national side, to having a winning eleven that “used to” start for their national side. In this same time period you have let a reserve team littered with players that would start at any other club fester and go to waste with an aging crew of Brazilians and poor young talent, this system will not work and it most definitely will not bring success any time soon. Silvio it appears you have lost your way, but fear not because it is not the first time you have gone through this debacle.
I remember ’96 like yesterday, the coach, Tabarez, the players, Kluivert, Reiziger, and Davids. The result…TERRIBLE, I hope you learned from those mistakes and do not go down that road again, and as you do, realize that the road the Rossoneri are heading down is not so good. Take notice in the bullets in envelopes Sil, because they may not ever hurt your but they should tell you that no one is happy…but we can remeber the good old days.
-Any else think Borriello will probably score a brace on Sunday? At least one is a gimme, and then maybe we can consider bringing back a player who in my opinion is playing extremely well, and may even be Azzurri material if he keeps up this run of play.
-Weird Gila fact, it was brought to my attention, and it may not be 100% accurate, that Gila has scored all six goals away from home and that Milan has no lost when he scores, hmmm, maybe he should play on the road.

Now thats suppose to go to Silvio. you’re 100% right gianfranco.
We always had ambitions to win both Scudetto & CL, and we were always so close. our last two big purchases are Gilardino & Pato, each for around 20 million euro! Pato still have a long way to prove himself and Gila…. dont get me wrong we still have great players, one of the best in the world, but apparently thats not enough.
i believe Galliani is the one who said “we spoil our fans, they only want the best.” thats why im getting more and more an anti-Gila fan, ive always liked him and its even for his best interest to leave. we dont need to hear the word “struggle” in our offense, we need our attackers to score over 20 easily. even Borriello, he might be good, but we need to ask the question, is he one of the best in the world? can he get us to the top? let us not forget he played poorly with us, not every player is fitted for every team.my list goes something like this: first, get 3-4 defenders who can play as key players for Milan and live up to the Milan defense history, probably 1 with experience and 2 still young. i suggest Ramos but i highly doubt Madrid will let him go. Then a goal keeper, LET DIDA GOOOO!!! either Frey or Amelia, im more with Amelia, a young and talented keeper who is probably the future goal keeper for the azzurri and he is up for grabs!!
Midfield is okay, just keep Gourcuff, even if we loan him, but DO NOT SELL HIM!
Offense, just get Benzema and we’re set. Pato + Benzema will keep us happy for a decade or so.
As for our coach, i sometimes think that we have to end our long successful relationship with Carletto, he sure did a lot and we appreciate it. BUT not for any coach, dont get Rijcaard or Van Basten. i say only Lippi or Mourinho or (my dream coach) Sacchi.
We went from having a great bench, to a mediocre first team and the new sign is being placed right now. Milanello “Retirement” Centro, free walker upon registration. we need it to say: RENOVATION RENOVATION RENOVATION!!!!!
I know those are high and costly demands, but come on Berlusconi!! we havent been spending much in the past period, just send a couple of blank cheques down the ladder and ORDER them to find good players. im even questioning our transfer guru.
For now we must strive and do whatever to get the 4th spot, and hope all our players have the same heart as last season in the CL.

aaaaaaaand Ronaldo is injured again, what a surprise. he’s out of the Genoa game. Careltto has two options, either the Christmas tree with Pato or the old fashioned 2 strikers, KA-PA-GI.

Roy, the Sheva cash went into Berlu’s last ditch effort at politics…kidding, but who knows, maybe he spent it on Sheva’s kid…look the bottom line here is the wallet is closed and I do not know when it is opening.

Gianfranco, you came too late to save my radio, my calc book (good riddance) and my speakers.
I kid. =] I have nothing but love for this lovely blog and our great little community. I always just happen to read bad Milan news here first though, and thus, you all have the pleasure of witnessing my displeasure.

Man..Finally somebody decided to write about the changes that are needed at Milan. Also this Ronaldo injury is getting irritating. I mean, he comes back for 1-2 games, and is out for 2 months after that. If he doesnt return after 1-2 games,I say,we sell him.
We need a new goalkeeper,3 defenders(RB,CB,LB), and at least one striker( I was hoping we could sign somebody in the next 4 days).
I have actually made a list of players, that might interest Milan, and I keep updating it(but Milan end up signing nobody from it.). PLEASE SILVIO.SPEND SOME MONEY.SIGN A GOOD PLAYER.Posted from

Gian, really good post, but my emotions are too overwhelmed with the current squad news to make any useful comments.
Received the news from a fellow Milanista during the day regarding big Ron being crocked (again?!?!?! Man, WTF!!?!?!)by text and now seeing it confirmed im STILL pissed. Our lack of depth of squad is the real danger here.
Back to the effing Christmas tree formation! If we dont see a win tomorrow we can kiss the CL next season goodbye!Posted from

This is what I feel about Berlu and the whole milan camp
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-2hKzxUYrnMman this brings back memories from the days when I was a year old walking up the street with the bombox singing a canculo because I didn’t know how to say it right.

I am beginning to think that our only chance at CL football next season is to win this seasons CL, and I am not so keen on that idea…

Gianfranco, i know wat u mean, the only current chink of light was watching Arsenal implode against their local rivals this week and lose 5-1. God i hope someone taped the match for Carletto!
