Saturday Morning Hangover

By: Gianfranco | March 8th, 2008

Sorry for the long layoff, but the family life has been a bit hectic the past few days. It has actually been a good thing because it keeps me from worrying about Milan. So when I sat down this morning catching up on the last post and reading all the great comments, I noticed some good stuff and some really odd wish lists.

It is not secret I prefer an Italian foundation at Milan with a few key foreign role players. Some of you view it the other way around, but as a fan of the Italian national team, and passionate hater of Inter, the Rossoneri can not go down that road. This is why I believe any available Italian should be considered before the purchase of a foreigner, ie Amelia, Toni, the Juve back four…you get my point. Having good young Italians on premier clubs such as Milan and Roma will assure future success of the Azzuri for years to come. Fab Quags and DiNatale, the door is always open.

This Sunday’s trip to Empoli, which is apparently not televised in my area, BOLLOCKS, is in my opinion the star of a brand new season for the Rossoneri. You said, I said, and Clarence Seedorf said it, the team has to be reborn and pick itself up from the Arsenal loss to assure a place in the top four of Serie A. The excuses are over, the games are once a week, and their no reason to drop points from here on out.

Pull it together boys the season has just begun…

Maldini Monday will address the possible return of Il Capitano for one more season, until then we can all keep speculating.

One last thing, Tito posted on the last blog entry, bringing a point I mentioned a long time ago, maybe everyone can rethink it now. KAKA SHOULD BE SOLD He probably won’t go anywhere, but its always worth stirring the pot a bit.

irregardless of the score, we still have a lot of work to do. especially in the midfield. on paper it looks pretty good, we have good players, but its not working out quite well.

with Fiorentina losing. we are 1 point behind them for 4th position.

let us not forget our next game is against Roma, away. and they’re fighting for the Scudetto.

I like Roma actually and support their effort on chasing Inter, but, I love Milan even more, we’ll beat Roma, and later we should make it up to Roma’s scudetto effort by beating Inter.

Despite all the work we need
a 3-1 victory just makes you feel good.
    That’s something i really needed.
Maybe we can shape up and beat those bastardo romano prossimo finesettimana…
I won’t be getting my hopes up though.

moment of the match - ambro goal - amazing control in the air, a lot of strength to keep grounded with 2-3 defenders - awesome.
agree that we have tons of work to do - except for the last 10 odd mins, we still played like shit, not like a team at all and were lucky that abate got injured
BTW - what was kalac doing on that run from marichisi - while maldin was in front of him, it was still as if he was just rooted to the spot watching the ball hit the post

    are you guys kidding me??

MALDINI WAS MAN OF THE FUCKING MATCH!!!

who carried the ball up from the half to the other box and spread play to kaka’ on the left to cross to ambro??

    PAOLO FUCKING MALDINI.

WHO WAS CLEARING THE BALL EVERY TIME IT CAME INTO OUR BOX?

    PAOLO FUCKING MALDINI.

WHO SLOWED THE TEMPO DOWN WITH LATERAL PASSES BETWEEN DEFENDERS WHEN EMPOLI WERE TEARING US APART WITH THEIR HIGHER TEMPO?

    THATS RIGHT, PAOLO FUCKING MALDINI.

IF YOU GUYS CAN’T SEE HIS VALOROUS PERFORMANCE TODAY, WHEN THE WHOLE TEAM LACKED PASSION, YOU SHOULD QUIT FOOTBALL.

today we saw what football is about, passion and character. today, we saw that in Maldini. he was the only one playing like he gave a shit. what a fucking stud.

show respect where it is deserved.

il capitano always said ‘you are only as good as your last game’. from his last game this morning, he should be crowned king.

    MALDINI WON US THIS GAME.

if you dont believe me, watch it again; only a clueless ignoramus can’t acknowledge his contribution in todays game. he was THE fucking beast.

he is Paolo Maldini, the captain of captains. the football of footballers. the king of kings.

    FORZA PAOLO

Great win. Its good to see that Carletto trusts Paloschi. I’d rather see him play over Gila, who I feel needs to find a new club.
Even better news was that Fiorentina lost. If Genoa win against Juve, then we will be just 2 points of 3rd place. So everbody, please pray.

Guh, I missed the match but at least was greeted by the good news of a win for us and a loss for Fiorentina! Sounds like it wasn’t a great performance today though, SO FRUSTRATING.

Man oh man, next week Roma!

    Shehan - point noted.

Maldinis run that led to the goal was beautiful and shows what experience counts for.

But that was the ONLY good thing i saw today, the team as a whole played with its head up its ass.

I think a 1-3 scoreline was far more than we deserved, i was all ready for another draw and would have been happy had it ended at 1-1 coz it was what we deserved.

Im really not looking forward to Roma, just compare our match against Arsenal to Roma’s against Madrid and you will understand why.

The Romans ran rings round Madrid and will most likely do the same to us.

This was not the response i wanted to see after the CL knockout.

Yeah the Viola lost today, we may even scramble 4th but will this lead to what happned last year (i.e. a win in the CL final and lets just paper over the cracks?) coz if so, i’d honestly be happy to finish in 5th if it meant some asses got kicked over the summer.

Sorry to sound like im on a downer, dont want to kill it for people who are genuinely happy with todays result but want to keep things within the big picture.

Maldini, “I’m also happy because in this last part of my career I am receiving many compliments also from my opponents.”

he said PART!! part could mean part of his last 2 seasons. he didnt say last season!!

yah im way to optimistic, but can you blame me. now i just hope they stir this even more over there till he comes back. im calling Ringhio and tell him to pressure our young old man. spray paint “dont leave” all over his locker, and at worst, Ringhio will just handcuff Paolo to Milan and force him to stay.

    PAOLO MALDINI…PAOLO ALE.

Juve won 2-0. but i believe we will end up in 3rd. we just have to focus and believe. NON TI LACEREMO MAI!!!

lool, i do way more than that for my milan. first we start with the Pippo. then the Ringhio run, stop and continue the face reaction of Pippo, Galliani & Tiziano Crudeli. and for the big finish we do the Carlton dance :)

    exactly avia.

the whole team played without passion today, and it was Maldini who stepped up not only for that minute but for the whole damn second half.

he was at the end of every empoli cross into the box, and he was robbing each empoli striker off the ball whenever they came near the box. he was everywhere.

his second half performance was just too good of a sight to behold, it was absolutely magnificent and majestic.

but thats the thing with defenders, its harder to notice their input in the game then with attackers. not many people notice how many times gattuso has stopped a play, and in todays case Maldini’s, but the fact is il capitano was a fucking wall today. simply fantastic.

Y’all should do us Romanistas a favor and pull any strings you have and tell your boys to take it a bit easy on us next week. We have you guys and then the Derby della capitale against Lazio, You’ll all be receiving a Karmaic IOU if you can route Inter in the Milano derby but don’t try too hard against us, I’m never a fan of facing the rossoneri no matter the situation.
