Urawa Reds v. Milan, Game Recap
By: Gianfranco | December 13th, 2007After a two hour commute home in a freaking blizzard, I have had plenty of time to reflect on this morning’s semifinal match. I also had a chance to listen to World Soccer Daily radio show on Sirius, which put me in a worser mood. It all started as I began replaying Milan’s game in my head and came to the realization that if they play this way on Sunday they will be in sorry shape. We can not make the mistake of saying that the Urawa Reds are great team, they are mediocre with very little ability to hang in with the big boys, with that being said they did well to try and dictate the tempo today, but lacked in touch, possession, and finishing.
As a Milan fan I am fully able to be critical of my team, but when the two scouzers from World Soccer Daily start ripping into my team it really pissed me off. They are barely even giving Milan a chance against Boca Juniors. Do they forget that Milan, even playing sub-par, can suffocate a team in the midfield and dictate a game enough to always give them a chance to win?? The real problem is, this season Milan is not squeaking out those close wins so they will have to do much more against Boca, preferably score a couple and lay those poor remarks to rest. As always it will be an entertaining game, and if things go well Milan will use their wily gamesmanship to get a win.
Good game today from Pirlo as always, but what about Rino? I swear he was lost today; I have never watched 90 minutes and seen him as little as I did. Gila really struggled to get into the game but I think it had to do with the marking he received, which freed up Clarence to blow like 4 out of 5 chances on net. Kaka was also a bit hit or miss, and looked exhausted, I wish Carletto had given him a 15 minute rest right after the goal but Kaka will have to go full boar again Sunday.
Expect the same lineup on Sunday with the exception of Maldini for Kaladze, and gasp maybe even Janks! How awesome would it be to see Paolo lift the trophy at his old wingback spot, priceless. I will do my best to live blog, or at least blog during the game so be sure to check back.

its hardly as if boca looked unbeatable in their game…
i just think that both teams looked a little dis-interested and both will probably offer a much better performance in the final…
rino didnt do anything because he didnt have to… well except for that part where he almost ripped dida’s head off… if only, if only…
kaka needs to rest… but he won’t get to… and gila couldnt do much because of the little service he got… after every seedorf miss, you could see gila’s face goin, god damn it i was wide open…

We need to play with the same defence and midfield defence, the marking was outstanding last night. we just need to capitalize. as for the forward, 1 striker is a bit risky, you need to get lucky sometimes. i wouldnt mind Pippo & Gila, but that would compromise our midfield a bit, maybe if we were tied or even trailing behind and need a goal so bad, just put it Pippo with Gila.
yah Rino was invisible the first half and oddly calm and quite which scared me a bit. but in the 2nd when he was yelling at Dida, i got scared. and even in a couple of other plays you can see him…doing his Ringhio stuff. i think he didnt do much, because our plan was to kill their midfield and attack so he had to follow strict guidelines which limited his actions.
if Maldini doesnt lift the cup……99% of its value to Milan is gone.

“if Maldini doesnt lift the cup……99% of its value to Milan is gone.”
amen to that bro.
Maldini will start, most likely ahead of Kaladze, but boy if he starts in the LB, damn ill piss my pants off. (in sheer joy)
i always said that you can take Maldini out of the wingback spot but you cant take the wingback out of him (especially when you see him charging up with assists when hes supposed to be playing at center-back).
im beginning to realize that our christmas tree system does jack shit in terms of supplying our lone striker.
we were showering crosses into the box this morning but we never hit our target (gila or pippo). you can’t blame them for not scoring when theyre not getting proper service.
yes gilardino had that one chance that came in from the left, but that was his only clear chance of the game, he needs atleast 3 or 4 more of those and logic guarantees that he will score one.
f ronaldo, we need a new striker this january, IN ADDITION TO THE DUCK.

the expert on gazzetta believes (he is in the know, his info is usually reliable, that Milan has gone cold on Ronaldinho, has little interest in Amauri and is concentrating all efforts on benzema. I would rejuvinate the squad with these names between january and june: Viviano, Zambrotta, Marzorati, Guardado, Cigarini, Benzema.

K, check out a few boats back about Dida and Maldini in net!!
I think Benzema is a good pickup, Milan need to inject youth into the squad specifically at the back, and the LM spot. Clarence has been a great servant but will not last forever and it seems that Carletto has not taken to Gourcuff at that spot. I really have a hard time understanding the purchase of Gourcuff who plays the same role as Kaka? I think somewhere Carletto believes he could play 11 midfielders in a line and win…
I believe Paolo will get the nod and at LB would be awesome, that way Kaladze, who has been playing well gets a start also.
