I nearly had a heart attack!

Milan clearly dominated the first half and should have easily scored 2-3 goals. In the second half, it was a bit more balanced until they scored the two goals. I won’t say anything else but why oh why is Milan so fond of sending me into a cardiac arrest every time they lead in a game? After the two goals, they slowed their tempo and ALLOWED Inter to pile pressure on the red-and-blacks. Why oh why? And as most of us know, Milan are not actually the best in defending when it comes to dead ball situations. It has never been the best for many years, so why do we ALLOW other teams to mound pressure on us in ‘the area’ when we’re already leading? I am quite puzzled by this tactic. Every time there is a dead ball situation in ‘the area’, I’d just have to change the channel for a while and hope that the score hasn’t change in Milan’s favor.

Whew…but let me not spoil the mood. It was a deserved win nevertheless and like I said, in the first half we played brilliant football. Inter did not play badly, it was Milan that played majestically. If there is one name that I’d mention who played their hearts out, it would be Ambrosini. There are not many Milan fans who see this fellow as a ‘hero’ but for me, being an old timer, Ambrosini has always bled red-and-black. His work rate against Inter was great. Inzaghi? What can I say? Also, our back four was solid, especially the center backs (not that they were threatened). Kaka did well, creating havoc and making Rivas work overtime. Seedorf showed some of his creativity but there were times that I wanted to strangle him when his passes went wild, when he held the ball longer than he should etc. *sigh*

Ok, on to Napoli and Udinese, and hope that Fiorentina lose further for safety measure. :)

    FORZA MILAN!

    HEEEEELLLLLLLL YAAAAAAAAA!!!!

I don’t think I have ever been as happy as I was yesterday. I have no voice, I pissed off a LOT of Interistas, I made friends with every Milan fan walking on the street, guys, yesterday was a wonderful win.

Freaky thing, I totally called the 2-1 scoreline with Pippo and Kaka as our scorers, though I thought it was freaking Chivu that was going to score against us.

The Curvas were incredible, even props to the Inter fans, they made the match exciting. Plus their unending insanity at trying to cram as many people as possible into their Curva was incredibly fascinating. Could you guys see the Coreo? Milans spelled out 21-05-08, what does that mean? No one at my hostel could figure it out. Also, the drunk Homer in the Inter underwear was priceless.

Ok, on the match itself, Nesta, hands down, was man-of-the-match. He was incredible. When he went down injured and play went on, I was SCREAMING for help for him, everyone around me thought it was quite entertaining.

Also, Gattuso went off because he was injured. He stayed at the Inter end and waved himself off, again, with my yells of worry.

I thought Ambro was fantastic, his off-the-ball work is second to none. Bonera was at times great, at times scared the crap out of me. May I say, the freekick at the end was one of the most tense moments of my life! The entire stadium was holding their breath and went NUTS after it blazed over.

I’m in Italy for the rest of the season, I’m in Rome for the Udinese match, but I’m going to try desperately to get to it. AND, I don’t arrive in Napoli until two days after the game, but I might try to go early since I’m in the south.

I totally thought of all you guys at the win! I was screaming in my friends face how crazy you guys would all be going. Then when we got out of the stadium and word buzzed around that Fiorentina lost, I knew there would be celebrations here!

    Forza Milan!!!!!!

Bonnie - So cool to hear from you! U could be our roving reporter? Ask Gian for an expense account!

I cant wait to experience the atmosphere myself one day, i’m planning to get over for next season.

Its a glorious day here in the uk, its also a bank holiday, so a day off work AND im still reveling in yesterdays match!

You could tell by the 15th min that our boys were well up for it, the only question was would it be the familiar sight of lots off possession but not killer instinct?

Well we know the answer to that!

    Forza Milan!

bonnie that must have been great, happy to see at least one of us got to enjoy our derby victory.

as for the banner, at first i assumed that it was referring to the May 5 incident (when inter lost the scudetto on the last day, season 01-02) i thought 21st of May is the last day of the league this year and that day Inter will lose it again. also if im not mistaken (someone correct me if im wrong, i barely speak any italian) the banner said something like, “another year of the century…always the same scenario”. but i found out later that the last day in Serie A is the 18th?!!! and the CL final is on the 21st! so i have no idea now. the Homer pic was hilarious lool

fetyani, the picture is making fun of the fact that on the day of the CL final, inter fans are going to be sitting at home like homer drunk as shit. (with the scudetto on the wall) making a point that they are CL losers.

thats more or less a correct translation, in keeping with the banner, they mean a century more of CL shittiness.

Alessio you are spot, on I talked to my cousin in Italy today and he said the banner was to show that you can hang your scudetto but you will still be fat, drunk, and half naked on CL final day!

On a side note on Simpsons and Italian culture, Homer is viewed very poorly in Italy while Bart is viewed very highly. So being compared to or assocaite with Homer is bad news…

If you notice, there is an asterisk on the scudetto as well, meaning they are still taunting last year’s honor as tainted.

AC Milan confirm deal for Arsenal’s Flamini

MILAN, May 5 (Reuters) - Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini will join AC Milan on a four-year deal, the Serie A club said on Monday. The 24-year-old Frenchman, who signed for Arsenal from Olympique Marseille in 2004, will move on a free transfer with his contract at the Premier League club soon expiring.

A statement on the club Web site (www.acmilan.com) said Flamini, who underwent a medical on Monday, would join on July 1 with the deal running out on June 30, 2012.

“I am very happy, thank you very much,” he told reporters.

The hard-working midfielder, who played as a emergency left back in Arsenal’s run to the Champions League final in 2006, was also courted by Juventus.

Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani denied Flamini has been recruited to replace Italy international Gennaro Gattuso, who said last week he was considering his future and would like to play in England.

“He is not here to replace Gattuso. He can play across the midfield,” Galliani told reporters.
