Milan 2 v. Palermo 1

Halftime Thoughts
Ambro is man of the half, easily, his runs, aggression and ball movement are a cut above right now. The rest of the squad is just plain sloppy from front to back. It does not help that Palermo has decided to make things extra ugly as well. If I was Carletto I would definetly rest Kaka for the rest of the half, he looks a bit deranged today with the fouls and whining. Maybe he just needs a break?
On the otherside though Amauri most definetly looks like a guy who is playing for a job. Great touches, cheeky backheels, and some great runs on both flanks, if he could get some shots going things will not be so even. On the Milan attack though I am much more enamored with Gila’s play than Pato. Gila is holding possesion and fighting for space, but has yet to really get a good dynamic dou going with Pato.
POSTGAME RECAP
Ambro-MOTM, his heart was second to no one today.
Pippo- living offside means you will get the occasional call against you, and score the occasional spectacular goal where you are all alone.
Gourucff - or Cuffy as Ro has named him passed crossed one of the nicest balls I have seen since Oddo’s to set up, Pippo. The rest of his performance was forgettable but that ball makes me want Carletto to play again Wednesday.
As for the rest of this game it was a joke. Palermo packed the box tighter than a fat kid in a small sweatsuit and choked any life out of this game. The ref had no concept of advantage and handballs which really detracted from the what is supposed to be the beautiful game. I am not happy with the performance but for fourth place, you grin and bear it. More games like this are going to put me in a foul mood, so the sooner we move on the better it will be.
Maldini Monday: Election results for the next captain, its tie right now so get your votes in.
Wednesday: Milan Meet and Greet and Catania Recap
And then we begin the slow mental and emotional preperation for Arsenal…

okay, first Pippo is a god. doesnt matter how old he is, whether he’s blind folded or with only one leg, HE WILL SCORE. oi oi yoi oi yoi yoi Pippo Inzaghi Segna Per Noi!!
second, Milano, we have a problem. we just cant play like this. this is unacceptable! we only won 5 games with a margin over 1 goal!! thats not good, not good at all. we need to focus on getting the ball smoothly from the midfield to our attack.
third, Filiiiiiiippo SUPER Pippooooooooo!!

missed the game guys - could someone please tell me - a) why were kaka and kaladze carded? b) why was kaka subbed? is he injured? c) was the first goal an own goal by oddo?

Kaka was subbed because he ws very agitated for some reason…He was carded because he commited a foul from behind…kaladze not to sure why…and no it wasn’t an own goal by oddo kalac didn’t seem to even try and stop it.

Tks, Ro….was reading on another blog that kaka was getting knocked around a lot by the palermo players and that he took a hit on his knee…hope he’s OK.
BTW, how was amauri today?Posted from

PeeeeeePooooo.
Picked a good time to get his first leauge.
Ambro = Man of the match. Beast of a performance. Not just the goal, but the intense hustle.
PeeePooo = Man of the moment. As always, right place, right time, right goal-scoring crack addict. Can’t help but like him.

Bad game, bad game, bad game, but good luck seems to hit us at good time, we need it, after awful start of season.
if only Amauri was able to finish his chances, but may be he thought he’ll feel bad to score against his future club, so he let the ball stay out of the goal.
Forza Ambro, Forza Pippo!

Gourcuff’s assist to Pippo was very nice indeed. I have to say, he didn’t play very well aside from that though. unnecessary fouls, didn’t pass when he should have. Mind, this is the most he’s played in a match since…ever, so I’m willing to let it slide for today.
I’ve said it before, but color me incredibly impressed by Amauri on the Palermo side of things. He gave our midfield/ defense more than a few troubled moments. Very classy.

Good result. Hopeless performance. Great to see Gourcuff getting some playing time, and actually assisting Inzaghi for the winning goal.

Hana, Gourcuff played a whole match last season in the CL against Celtic last year, and played a whole match against Celtic in the group phases this year. Maybe he is the Celtic man?

hah… its more like he is the man when there is an absolute lack of options…
i would almost be willing to bet that he will improve exponentially with more playing time…
and for a change, you get to see a player who is just playing his heart out…
i am not saying that the other players dont care, but the so called “nerves of steel” that has been instilled in our players, is usually good, but the severe lack of urgency they show in their slow build up, so close to the final minute, annoys the living shit out of me… i mean there are 10 minutes left, and they are still nonchalantly passing the ball around deep in midfield, without showing any initiative of going forward.. if gourcuff was not on the pitch, the game would have most likely ended in a draw… he was the only player to show any urgency, other than pippo and pato, but the strikers cant do anything without the service…

k i totally disagree with you about player having any intitiave going forward i think it’s that they can’t simply create i love rino but not for offense same for kaladze, bonera and sometimes even ambro. But you are right about gourcuff getting better with playing time of course hopefully carletto will start him or give him more minutes he did bad passes and bad tackles but you can’t blame the guy for trying. Where is seedorf?

ivan, that begs the question, what are we doing with 2 defensive midfielders in a serie a game?!

yeh, pretty poor match. Great win tho
Keep it up Milan!

Anceloti should actually give Gourcuff more playing time so that we can see how he’ll fit into the team. By the way what hapened to Poloschi? Milan are routinely described as a bunch of pensiners. We shouild consider giving the youngsters like Digao, Bonera and Matteo a chnce to dorn the red and black stripes. Milan For ever

Digao is crap. We cant play him in SerieA matches. However we do have to give Gourcuff and Paloschi more chances.
Posted from

Digao is CRAP, but the rest of the youngesters should be rotated to inject some life into the Seria A squad.
