I honestly do not blame Dida for the first goal as the ball was clearly deflected!

Madrid’s goal was totally defense’s fault for not marking Benzema, AND not running to clear the deflection.

the ball was deflected for the first goal, i’ll take it back on dida and although he looks very hesitant to dive and did drop a couple of crosses he kept milan in it at the end.

pato best on pitch, ambrosini kept kaka relatively quiet although he still managed about 5 or 6 unchallenged shots. pirlo shit.

I agree little harsh to blame all on Dida,,, it clearly had a deflection. I admit he could have done little better –> like clearing off of the danger zone.

zambrotta seemed to be really struggling with his game; great hustle but many gaffes with the ball. this might be one of the reasons that most of the play went down the right side.

think dida was good except that he has to be able to clear the ball away instead of directing it straight at the opposing team players…but those 2 good saves right at the end kept us in the game

@fifaguy i think that was more because pato was roasting arbeloa on the right whereas (in the first half at least) dinho was giving ramos an easy ride, saying that it was dinho and zambrotta who got the penalty and other joy out of pepe and ramos

    My points:

    - Inzaghi should have been introduced earlier.
    - Pirlo played extremely poorly.
    - Dinho and Pato, good up in front, although Pato could have done better on his first chance.
    - Ambrosini was a monster in the middle. (3rd time I say this, I loved him!)
    - Our full-backs!! Time and time again they prove that they are struggling.

and I must admit!! Why the HECK did PIRLO take a EXTREMELY luckluster freekick in the end??????????????? he didn’t even look where the players were………… He just freaking blew the last chance away without even trying

RM fan here – good game, was tough for both sides I thought. Would have been a bit unfair for either to win as they were quite even. The Referee-ing in both games has been really shitty. In any case, if we both win our next games, we’re both qualified so good luck to you guys!…or tie so we can come first in the group :)

i have a hard time evaluating pato’s performance. he was flopping onto the ground left and right and losing the ball many times, but also was dangerous. i guess i would call it a mixed bag. there’s a different style of play on milan’s two sides of the field; dinho doesn’t play like pato and, frankly, i think oddo is steadier and more of an offensive threat than zambrotta. dorf also tended to play a little more to the right, leading to a stronger force on that side…

the 1st thing i noticed 2nite was that the team is far more compact with far less space between the strikers and the back 4

one fatal flaw in our sqaud is that our basic ball control and possession is letting us down badly rewatch dorf, zambro & pirlo (to name a few guilt parties) to see wat i mean

pato was being marked like u couldnt believe in the 1st half and only looked more lively in the 2nd coz he was dropping far further back to get into the action

dida although has looked ok recently is a liabilty – he is only half a keeper in my eyes. Yes he makes some amazing point blank saves but thats not good enuff really. His inabilty to deal with shots is a flaw that was expected and taken advantage of tonight regardless of whether or not Benz was offside

Silva – i remember many moons ago on this blog crying that we should have someone like Sergio Ramos in this squad. I honestly believe we may have a better thing on our hands. The kid is amazing. So unbelievably self assured beyond his years.

Our full backs (or lack of good ones) continue to haunt us zambro was iffy at best and made uo for shit play with some decent attempts going forwward which couldnt be levelled at Oddo who was crap from start to finish regardless of whether he was going back or fowards. Im sure the howls of despair that arose everytime he fucked up 2nite are still ringing in his ears

the defender shouldn’t give so many spaces and times for real player to shoot from the edge of the box in the first half.
oddo did ok,more than what zambro did imo also considering zambro got more rest time than him.
pato, that kid looks really tired that’s why imo hes on and off, dangerous but also loses ball and falling to the ground so easily sometimes.
pirlo, HES SHIT and as someone pointed it out before, i think everytime he take freekick and corner he just kick the ball, doesn’t care where it might landed.
    MOTM Ambro.

seedorf was actually ok 2nite but only looked so coz of Pirlo who should be in some kinda zombie movie coz thats all he seems to play nowadays A FRICKING CORPSE!!!!!

the number of times where he was passed the ball and he carried out a pass that he must have been thinking about 5mins ago!

Good to see Ambro getting props as he was def the hero @ the San Siro 2nite he was by far the best of our 3 midfielders 2nite by a large margin

K – there were by far worse players out there tonight but i guess i was hoping that he was gona build on his last performance against the madrid where he went crazy in the 2nd half

dont know if it was just the tv view but he appears to have receded big compared to his last spanish outing

still sooooooooooooooo pissed about patos goal being chalked off

    have the replays explained why?

Coz we were all stunned (after going shit crazy wen we thot he had scored!)

still lmao @ oddo who after making only one decent cross into the box had the cheek to complain to team mates that no one got onto the end of in!

but when u consider how few decent crosses he makes i can almost understand his frustration

    avia,

I think he must have pulled it up for a foul but the defender clearly fell over his own feat. Much like Shevas disallowed goal against Barca in 2006 CL semi when Puyol tripped over his own feet.

I still believe that decision cost us sheva and probably cost sheva the rest of his career. Cos if that goal had have counted we would have beaten Barca I reckon and would have beaten Arsenal in the final for sure. And if that happened I think Sheva would have stayed. But after 2005 disaster and then 2006 I think he thought he’d move to greener pastures, but Mourinho didnt even let him out of the barn.

    Anyway thats my rant

Ok, I just finished watching the match, and here what i have to say, I was never a fan of ambro, but the punishment he dealt to Kaka today was a reason to smile as I was watching. Pato looked tired, but he was also kept in check by some rough dirty physical play by RM defence, did we deserve to win? I do not think so, the penalty was questionable at best, but the goal was a beauty, sadly it did not count, i guess these things balance themselves out. Pirlo looked a shadow of him self, Hernanes anyone? seedorf had some great touches and some really shitty touches, so i guess you can say he was less than average. Dino was on fire, Im so happy to see him track back, win balls, get fouls, trickery with the feet, hell of a strike at the penalty. Defense was too bunched up in the box and allowed too many opportunities for shots to be taken from outside, Borrielo slowed up play, we needed more pace, Inzaghi should have started the match. oh well, were still atop the group, best of luck to real madrid and forza milan. here is an interesting stat, Milan went on to the final of the champions league whenever they met madrid through the course of the competition. (not sure if this is true, but thats what the fox commentator said).
