I told you…

For anyone who doubted Didier Drogba, or may not prefer him to a benched Brazilian named Ronaldinho. (Remind me how many CL games he has played in 08?) Please take today’s brace as a warning, and a statement that he’s ready to roll. Rafa Benitez called him a diver and a flopper and Drogba made him put his foot in his mouth. A great performance all around for Chelsea and keeping pace with Drogba was Micheall Essien who even out of position was dominate.

I bleed red and black, but what I wouldn’t give to have those two guys at the San Siro…

Fetyani, the commercial was awesome, but was the person Van Persie!? As for the xmas tree I agree but why cant DD be the star, Pato has time to learn and play but we need a killer edged forward for the CL and this man proves it time and again that the big stage is his stage!

i never thought of Van Persie, you might be right. im assuming its like every fan, you the fan.

i dont even know how i feel about the Christmas tree. mainly im all for the 4-4-2, but i have to admit the Christmas tree worked good for us last season, but not this season. i have mixed feelings, the lone striker must be an ultimate striker to work well in the Christmas tree, someone from a mix of Pato & Inzaghi, moves really well all over and positions well too (Sheva, fu, i love you). DD would be good for that position but again im just too worried if he’ll adapt quickly, it took him like 2 season to get settled with Chelsea. but when i come to think about it, i would much rather to see us play with 4-4-2. another thing is, i love our players so much, im so reluctant to even change the 4 midfields, Pirlo-Rino-Seedorf-Kaka. and 2 strikers up ahead, Pato & ????

Thats why im worried about the Flamini deal. again, i just hope our transfer guru makes the right decision this time.

in other news. Ronaldo, Fat Ron might end it all right now. oh what have you done R99!!! reports are saying he lost his girlfriend, 100 million nike deal, respect from lots of people. imagine whats going on in his son’s mind right now.

I dislike drogba very very much…he reminds me of Materazzi acting like his S*^T don’t stick and he’s to show offy.
    .
I love that video someone at one of the forum’s I go to TCC posted it.
    .
As for Ron…all I can say is I’ve been fearing this…I knew eventually he would mess this up. Anyways what ever milan is stupid enough to extend his contract either way so we all know we are going to be stuck with him and his stupid “injuries”.
    .
Sorry for being pesimistic…if that’s how it comes off.

I totally agree with you on Drogba, Gianfranco! First, we’ve recruited a handful players on the wrong side of 30 for the past seasons so I don’t see how Drogba’s age can pose a problem. A certain Filippo Inzaghi joined Milan around that age in 2001 and look how beastly his performance is now.

Second, in regards to Drogba’s attitude: Heck, I don’t like his attitude either and I totally dislike the characterless club that he’s playing for now. Then again, did any of us like Filippo Inzaghi when he was at Juventus? Among us Milan fans, I think many of us would nominate Inzaghi as the most despised striker ever playing for Juventus in the 90s. Even when he went to Milan, I remembered many Milan fans were appalled with the 40million Euro that we paid for him (and higher for the aging Rui Costa but we all loved him then).

Third, the Christmas tree formation: Ancelotti is known to have changed his strategies, formation and whatnots since he managed Milan and I don’t see how he can’t do it again with Drogba in the picture. It’s funny to listen to some of my friends talking about formation, as if that’s the most essential strategies in football. In truth, it’s not. Seedorf has played out of his favorite role time and again – with reluctance – but he’s done well. Remember Kaladze playing as the defensive midfielder when he first arrived? Then, switched to center back, then left back and then back to the center again? And he wasn’t that bad at all. Occasional boo-boos but who has not? And the fact that he’s played as a forward at Tblisi in the mid-90s is unimaginable. Of course, should I mention our very own legendary Maldini leaving his beloved left back to play in the center? A central position that’s been tightly held by the likes of other legend such as Baresi, Costacurta and Galli has left Maldini on the left. But now, he’s playing in the center as if he’s played there for 20 years. What I’m trying to say here is that, no matter what position does one play in any kind of formation, it’s all down to professionalism, hard work, determination and of course, the Rossoneri spirit! Besides, we won our Scudetto with a 3-4-3 formation in 1999 under Zac. :) Oh, speaking of that season, I just remembered that we must have won the last 5-6 games on a trot, overtaking Lazio to win our 16th championship. We should gather that same spirit for our last three games to qualify for the Champions League spot (no, don’t tell me about Fiorentina).

    FORZA MILAN!

p.s. And please, baldy, make the right decision in getting the right players for Milan for next season. If (and god forbid) Milan hauls Ronaldinho, I fear that the Milan management will say ‘Hey! We made a successful transaction in the transfer market by buying Ronaldinho. Ok, that’s it. No more transfer activities for the next five seasons. We’re good as it is now’….that’s gonna be a nightmare.

Personally, I hate the guys personality and attitude, but he’s got talent. But keep in mind he’s 30 years old.

Let’s look at statistics and compare him with Berbatov.

    Drogba: 30 years old.
Career total domestic games: 253, goals: 101
Career total european games: 57, goals: 27

    Berbatov: 27 years old.
Career total domestic games: 267, goales: 167
Career total european games: 52, goals: 28

    hmmmm…

In Drogba’s favour, I have to mention he’s been playing in top-flight (England) for 4 years and top flight European games, as opposed to Berba’s 2 years in England..

    You decide.. :)

Moka great comparison and even great point on Berbatov not playing for a big four and his Euro play is UEFA while DD’s is CL. If we are going to knock Borriello for playing well in Genoa than its only fair to point out Berbatov as well.

drogba (or toni) would be exactly the kind of strikers we would need to make the christmqs tree really effective. pippo was awesome too as he knew how to play the line well, but he is not 34 any more. if we are to play with that formation, then one of toni, drogba, berbatov, adebayor, in other words, a target man, is a must.

The midfield is the strongpoint of Milan, though aging the midfield is not an issue. Good subs to back up those four are neccessary though, preferebably younger. The star striker is the real deal and forces defenses to play you differently, allowing guys like Kaka to play much like Ballack did for Chelsea yesterday, everywhere!

Many good points have been made regarding Drogba already. He certainly brings an option of directness that Milan lack at the moment but which I think can be adequately provided with the return of Borriello and at much less cost.

Drogba will cost a lot. Dinho will cost about the same or maybe even less.

I don’t agree with the view that Milan’s midfield is particularly such a great unit. If this was the case why couldn’t they cope with Arsenal who basically out possessed them and dare I say outplayed them in midfield. Milan’s midfield is ’supposed’ to be their strong point around which everything else about their approach to playing is based but strong opposition have shown this season that they’re in need of recruitments in this department.

It’s folly to think that Gattuso, Seedorf and probably even Ambrosini can do still what they used to do in say 05 or 06 at the same level now and tomorrow.

as i said earlier, as long as we get an accomplished attacking superstar, ill be happy; be it r10 or drogba, each brings his own qualities to the team.

Gianfranco, if you’re keen on a ‘power’ forward look no further than FC Zenit’s Pavel Pogrebnyak. He combines Drogba’s agility and pace with Koller’s size and Toni’s guile. What’s more, he has lots of skill, will cost relative peanuts and will likely give you ten years.

He just demolished Bayern and the Uefa cup and expect him to shine at the Euros.

will this help our quest for 4th or lit a fire under the viola?

Sadly, Fiorentina didn’t make the final.. Now their focus is on keeping 4th place and I’m rather pessimistic. I was expecting them to reach the finals, but the two teams that made it were the underdogs really.

It’s gonna be tough.. I feel Milan’s gonna win the remaining games, but so is Fiorentina..

Uefa Cup, here we come.. *tear*

BTW, looks like Flamini is a done deal.. Congrats everyone! :)

A i disagree about that foward you offered us from zenit but, i feel like he has to prove himself more in the future and yes i saw the game on FSC (which shows lots of milan’s games by the way.) but i feel that Pavel Pogrebnyak is just one of these one game wonders. he probably just took advantage of the bayern backline being as shitty as it was.
