even though i love Don, he must go. even if Italia qualifies, i dont believe he'll be able to do anything in Euro 08.

after all, when i was a kid i use to go to Donadoni's house all the time and play there. but the azzurri comes first Don. AZZURRI FIRST!!

Chris, the Milan boys at this time only really consist of Gattuso and Pirlo...if this was true Ambro and Gila would start all the time as well (Pippo is a puzzling afterthought to me). This is something we can never agree on because of our club affiliation, but Roma has gotten a fair look from The Don and that is undeniable. I will say one thing, Gattuso is indispensable and he proves it game in and game out, it does not matter who the coach is, if Gattuso is in there you are getting 100% all the time. Pirlo has his moments of ?, but Gattuso is a valuable part of the squad.

Elmi, your point is well taken and I agree with you to some extent. I think The Don was look for veteran marksmen in this situation, I do think pairing a vet with a speedy youngster is a better call though, the problem lies with who and why. If he picks Quags he gets flack for not picking Miccoli, if he goes with Iaquinta, he gets flack for not taking Del Piero. A better pair could have been chosen, but they we would debate that pair as well...

personally, i wouldn't mind if pippo or alex is in the squad and come in on minute 60 onwards, what really bugs me is that donadoni choose to start with delpiero AND inzaghi... which is plain nonsense. Totti aside, he could go with quag - iaquinta, miccoli - iaquinta, quag - inzaghi, alex - iaquinta and the list could go on and on... but both pippo and alex as a starter is a big no-no.. dont he know what the french defense is gonna look like? there's no speed or physical presence at all in the attack... just as my boss say, common sense is not very common after all.. it seems to have eluded donadoni... i think it takes some common sense (and other qualities) to win something and he seems to lack the very basic of it, common sense... i was shaking my head in disbelief when i saw alex and pippo in the starting line-up and still am now... it's just too ridiculous to be true... i hope he realise that alex is 32, and pippo is 34 and the year is 2007.. wake up!

Totti has not helped this matter at all, and quite frankly if your country calls you go regardless of who is coaching. Totti did not even give The Don a chance which in my eyes is bullshit, you can only bitch about something if you have dealt with it.

I do not think Italy are playing scared but more playing to what they have got, a strong D and midfield, it is not like you can turn on the offense and tell them to score. Those types of players not falling out of trees in the boot, there is no consistency in the attack.

As for Taddei, I just believe it is sad when Camo and Taddei have to be considered and other Italians are losing their place...you should be upset too.

Totti is not an excuse for the horrible lineups and performances. He was on and off for Italy and Nesta was always injured. Not reasons for the poor performances. Donadoni has been in charge for almost a year and hasn't gotten one single lineup right (MAYBE the Ukraine and Scotland games)..

I do agree that he hasn't been helped.. But neither was Lippi I believe.. Especially with the media hounding him regarding Calcipoli and betting..

And Taddei was being asked to play by Lippi when he took charge and Taddei refused. It's not out of desperation but out of.. well.. he's just awesome.

I totally expected this from you and anyone else associated with AC Milan. It must be nice to know that, as long as Donadoni is in charge, the Milan boys will always be first choice. Regardless of who is the better option.

If insider knowledge is to be believed, Donadoni is the reason why he is coping without Totti. Francesco is not a fan, and he has not been too subtle about that.

And I think a year is more than fair if the reigning world champions are putting continental tournament qualification into serious jeopardy. That's ridiculous. They shouldn't be playing scared against France and HOPING they beat Ukraine and Scotland.

And quit slagging off Taddei, he's probably the most underrated player in Serie A. Hell, your boys were after him before he signed with Roma. Same goes for Juve and Inter.
