Tuesday Milan Musings, Livorno 1 – Milan 4
By: Gianfranco | April 28th, 2008Four goals are always impressive no matter the competition. I will say that the two whoopings that Milan has handed out are against relegations teams, and it may or may not be all the necessary to beat up on teams that maybe don’t deserve it. But this Milan is a completely different squad that is finally hungry for points and shows the offensive bite that has been lacking for the majority of 2008.

The first bit of praise goes to Pippo whose form is through the roof at this moment, and has a season average of a goal per game! That is phenomenal considering the injuries and lack of form in the early part of the year. In fact he has been so blazing hot in the box that even the Don has to consider a call up for a man that could be on his last hoorah and a very valuable super sub when the team is need.
Back to the game here, Milan is doing what needs to be done. Any losses in the home stretch and they can kiss fourth place good bye, which leads me to this weekend against the league leaders who will remain nameless until the end of the week. Fiorentina dropped the points that we were looking for and as they gear up for the UEFA Cup Milan needs to be breathing down their neck in the Serie A.
MUSINGS…

-Half Milan man Marco Borriello is now tied atop the goal scoring leaders of Serie A. I know this sounds bad but this is a good thing because if he does lead the league his bid will have to be a bit higher than if he loses, trust me he will get over it if he gets to play at the San Siro. I have been impressed with him all season long watching him score against big and little teams alike, and blasting teams with hat tricks on more than one occasion. The thing that has impressed me most about Marco is his humility, when recently asked if he should be called up to the Azzurri instead of Del Piero, he politely said, “Alex should go because he has given much to Italy and deserves it, but I will continue to play my best in hopes of my call.” That’s class that fits in quite nicely with the classy side of the San Siro.
-Ronaldo may be back sooner than expected, awesome!!!!! Sooner you come back the faster you can be sold. FOR SALE: Aging Brazilian striker, on top of the world 10 years ago, two brand new knees, and an extra layer of insulation all free. Hurry if you act now you can get three for the price of one with an old right back, and historic looking defensive midfielder.
-As if we are not sick of tired of our players asking to leave, the Milan brass has put a 55M price tag on Kaka. Is this a deterrence or a real way for Milan to make them a ton of money? I think it’s a deterrence, but I have been in favor of selling Kaka in the past to make a ton of money, I know its not the most popular view but we are here to share opinions. If Kaka was a stock he would be high and prime to sell, in fact he may even be in a bit of lull because of his lackluster form this season. Milan could reap the benefits of the transfer fee in the transfer market, but then again they could also damage the delicate fabric of the Rossoneri.
-Flamini may be on his way to Milan which in many fan’s views is a good thing. I just hope it does not force Rino away. I am currently indifferent to Flamini, and if he is going to bring depth to the bench than that’s great. Only time will tell how that works out.
-Fester has a pair of balls after all. He put his foot down on the ‘Dinho deal refusing to overpay and has even said that the only way Sheva comes back to the San Siro is on a free loan. That’s the way to show them baldy, give em hell.
Lets all enjoy Pippo (and hair bands), as he deserves it in the past few weeks.

lool @ Ronaldo. at least get some “fancy, expensive” prostitutes to your hotel. not a bunch of trannies to a motel. ooh Ronaldo….will i have to say learn from the other C.Ronaldo.
In real Milan news. im loving that Pippo is confident. Pippo always has showed he’s a true class act. even since he started to get benched from 2004, he just showed patience and professionalism, and whenever he was needed, not only did he show up…he showed the world why do they call him Fillippo Super Pippo.
”Milan will do this. We will win the derby and the other two game. We will be in the Champions League.”

Fetyani I agree 100% about Pippo. He has never complained and has always produced when called upon, thats top class.

Ok, while I completely disagree with Gian about selling Kaka, I do love that he´s willing to voice his opinion, nothing gets discussion going like a little controversy!
I for one am not in favour of bringing back Borriello. I think he´s mildly skilled and he´s found a system that he fits in Genoa, which is awesome for him and Genoa, I just don´t think it will translate into fitting into Milan.
Ok, I get the worry over Flamini, him pushing Gattuso or Ambro out, but here´s the thing, eventually they will go. Neither are young players, Gattuso´s signed a contract til he was what, 33 or 34 and he´s said that will be it for him, Ambro´s a year older, so why not start grooming someone now? I understand that Flamini wants first team football, but I seriously think there can be enough playing time for him to keep him happy. Um, plus it would mean getting rid of Emerson, yes please!
And Fet, I paid 120 Euros for my third tier ticket. I know, crazy high for third ring, but I seriously did not care, I jsut want to be in that stadium, especially since it´s completely sold out.

looooool this really made me laugh!
A.C. Milan communicates that at the end of today’s training Nelson Dida suffered a slight contusive trauma to his right ankle.
God is talking straight to you Dida, get the damn message.

Bonnie, thats great. no price can be valued for the Derby, i have a very good feeling about this Derby. just exercise your vocal cords to scream a couple of times “PIPPOOOOOOOOOO”

just caught the ronaldo news on the bbc site. hookers and male? well i guess he has to train and keep fit!
on another subject watched the semi today; barca went down faster than a u.s. intern but dominated possession. Messi was top drawer as well.
However this farce happens the one season milan is out of form. This summer will hopefully mark a new era.

Any views on Barca/Man U I have to say CRon failed to show up again while Messi did all he could to carry Barca, its to bad Messi isn’t on the available striker list.

Even though Zambro made a huge mistake that cost them the game and slacked a few times, i still like his determination, especially in the 1st leg. He showed he still has it, and if i believe in Milan he’ll play more determined especially with his Milan team mates and for the team he truly supports. He will be treated better in Milan, hopefully resulting in performing better.
i was pulling for Barca, but Man Utd knew how to close on them tight in the mid field. In my personal opinion Messi is way better than C.Ronaldo on many different levels.
Only if both teams can lose in the final. id rather have…..no one win. but if i had to choose…..still none, but seriously i think it will be Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, but again none would be much better

Fetyani, I agree with you on Zambro. His first game was phenomonal and who could forget his performance in WC06. Today he had his hands full with CRon who stalked on his flank, and he did the job of keeping him quite and frustrating him to no end. I find it funny how CRon gets whiny when he is getting dominated on the defensive side, thats what makes Messi all that more special. I know this sound awful but had Messi gone down like CRon always does in the box, Barca may have gotten an easy equalizer…

on the flamini subject, we really shouldnt have to be discussing who he will displace… with depth like that we can afford to play the player who is in best form and physical shape… and even he knows that if he comes to a team like milan he has to earn his spot in the starting lineup… also, his presence will prolong gattuso’s career…

the goal was totally zambrotta’s fault yday…on messi, i think he had a number of great runs but choked in front of the goal and imo was guilty of not passing. except for puyol, defence really sucked for them….for me, one of the better players yday was tevez

I thought Zambrotta had a weird game. He made some terrific covering plays and then some nightmarish blunders(one of which lead to the goal, of course) that makes me not want him to be in the same zip code as San Siro.
Getting back to your point about Flamini and the line-up, GF. I don’t think Seedorf can cut it in the deep areas anymore, he just doesn’t have the will to defend these days. Even though three defensive midfielders is a little conservative and Pirlo does not have the pace to play further up the pitch, I think it should be tried out at least. We would miss some of the range of Pirlo’s passing (which might be a good thing because he over does it sometimes, IMO) but he would be closer to goal for shooting chances.
p.s. I think “k” sums up the Flamini situation brilliantly.

There were too many players having off days for Barca. Man Utd were nothing special. If ever a team was missing their No. 10 it was FC Barcelona last night!

i’ve also been thinking about who flamini would replace, and the only probably solution would be gattuso, especially if we stick with the christmas tree formation.
ambrosini’s biggest quality is his aerial ability, he is the only one able to challenge for those kind of balls. its no good having a midfield based on collecting the second balls, that would be disastrous.
but at the same time, we have played without ambrosini in our vintage rhombus shaped midfield with 2 strikers. if we ever play that, flamini’s box-to-box qualities will certainly be a plus side.
the reason we’re doing so well for the past few games is because ambrosini and gattuso have been making late runs forward relative to pirlo who has a free role all around the pitch. pirlo is also regaining his form, keeping things running while actively closing down any attacks from the middle.
lets not forget ancelotti talked about diarra a few days ago, he is a hardcore DM and would be a welcome addition. but he will be expensive. who knows what the future holds for our team.

Shehan you point out a big plus in MIlans last two games, numbers in attack. With Rino and Ambrom doing work in the midfield Pirlo has time and space to do what he does best, CREATE.

K, good thought on Rino…

I just want to say I am rooting for Chelsea and my man DD has already scored!!!
On a side note from a discussion on how talented Essien is…”Essien is so talented I would rather play him out of position than not play him at all”…that’s respect for talent.

yah DD scored a nice goal. so powerful, accurate and straight to the net. Reina didnt have a chance.
