just reading the italian job...its good tho he seems to run some of the italian (latin) v/s english (anglo-saxon) cliches too far...tho the way he draws on them to analyse some of the stuff we see happening and are puzzled by day in and day out is great...
any idea what is marcotti's contribution to the book - i'm almost at the end and it seems to be a complete vialli story and experiences

From quotes of the week channel4 italia
“Everyone from the squad to the Coach and general manager Adriano Galliani talked about a real giant upfront who could batter down opposition defences, but they got Ronaldinho who is a support figure. Now after trying to bring in a defender, they pick up Shevchenko. What kind of planning strategy is this?”
Arrigo Sacchi walks in on Milan playing 'Pin the Tail on the Transfer Target'
I guess our blog members are not the only ones baffled by Milan's transfer campaign!

Thank you Fet and Gian.
I ordered Italian Job 2 days ago from Amazon.com and I came across several other Calcio books while placing the Order, and it said something like” customers who purchased Italian job also bought Calcio, and Forza Italia, but I wasn’t sure if they were any good.

Dark Heart was excellent, but a bit dry at times. Italian Job by Vialli is also a very worthy read.

nina - Forza Italia is a fantastic book. Highly recommend it; also see John Foot's Calcio (a must read) and Tobias Jones Deark Heart of Italy for a greater understanding of the politics of the country. Forza Italia is Paddy Agnew, Irish journo who has lived in Italy (Rome) since the Maradona era - he was in Italy to cover Vatican news for the Irish Times but soon got swept away with the wonderful football of Maradona and the dutch milanese and brought it to us in vivid prose.

Avia, true class.

Dinho needs to earn his spot and until then it belongs to Clarence. Pirlo and Rino look like they still need another month, and Emerson coming back only makes me feel worse...

Lol@Avia, I figured you were laughing at the former comment.
I second everything you said, especially the fact that Mourinho will deal with inter's defensive problems far better than Carletto and believe me, it pains me to admit that!
Seedorf has been looking better than ever thus far, he even looks thinner (Not suggesting he had weight issues, but just an observation), and moves much faster! Flamini was definitely the only brilliant signing Milan made this transfer window. Ambro is another player that does not need motivation, he is charged up and ready to go at all times. Defensively, we are getting worse by the day, with players picking up injuries, deals falling through, and settling for likes of Senderos! 97 all over again!
Ro, you are better off asleep!

Something must be in the food over there. It's the only explanation for the insanity. The season starts in 9 days, and I haven't the slightest clue who we're fielding. Sure, there have been some bright spots with Flamini and Seedorf (the man has been possessed-love it), but they've been sporadic as has always been the case with us, and the injuries (Ricky, why?) have dampened their effect. I am so tired of the inconsistent, Jekyll and Hyde act we had last season, but without some changes and some effing good fortune health wise, it looks like we're on track to repeat it.
