Sunday Morning Hangover
By: Gianfranco | August 19th, 2007-Football Italia has named the top 25 youngest players in Italy, and Milan has only one. That player is French starlet Gourcuff. This can not be good, traditional power teams like Juve and Fiorentina have a ton of players and it worries me to think that a team like Juve will continue to grow in strength and further populate the Azzurri. Milan does have the tendency to buy these established players such as Pirlo, but the trend has gone away from selling talent between powerhouses.
-Emerson continues to sweat Milan and I think he is actually starting walking to the San Siro, I just hope when he get there he is so tired he walks into the Inter side of the stadium. This just seems like one of those pest like rumors that just will not go away until El Puma is wearing the Rossoneri.
-I have not reported much on the rollercoaster Milan preseason because I do not find much good in preseason games. The squad is usually second rate and the games are more or less tune ups for formation and players vying to make the squad. I am a bit worried that the team won the Berlusconi Trophy which in the past has meant that they will not win the Scudetto, oh well, curses are meant to be broken.
- The season opens against Genoa and Milan Tifosi may not be allowed to make the trip because of the murder twelve years ago. I am big fan of preventative maintenance, and doing something like this teaches a lesson. It is unfair to the players, but is probably the only way to show fans that the FIGC means business
-Inzaghi has been recalled to the Azzurri and I say nice job. Pippo knows his role and when given the chance the man produces. His recalls will not last forever, but I hope he makes the best of his chances.

Pato didn’t make the list? 25m and he’s not in the top 25? Ouch.
Is it in the mag or on the site? I can’t seem to find the link if it’s on channel4. Love to see it.

It is a mag that you can subscribe to on Channel 4, they usually carry the same stuff, but the big articles are reserved for the mag.

the serie a start is just a week away! i can’t wait! realistcally i can’t see us winning the scudetto with our current squad. actually cancel that- *being optimistic*- we’re gonna win it this season. we just need kaka, rino, nesta, pirlo, oddo, ronaldo, kaladze and hopefully gila fit and in form (because yall know how horrible our subs could be…). couple that with an improved gourcuff and hopefully an impressive pato in january and we can just nic the title!

i just dont think we should be writing our chances of already… i mean its not like people predicted that we would win the cl this year… anything is possible… i mean if we look at the second half of the serie a season, we played extremely well and if i am not wrong, we were not all that far from inter’s total… if we start of well then who knows what can happen.. and if needs be, we could sign a couple players in january as well.. its way too early to write us of..

Remember this list is courtesy of Calcio Italia Magazine. I am not in full agreement with the list, but I am in full agreement that Rossi should not have gone to Spain, he should have found a team and it is hard to think that he did not. Only Man U is to blame for his trip to Spain.
As for the rest of the list, Fiorentina is loaded with youth and Juve are right behind.Posted from

There won’t be enough places for all these players in their respective senior squads and Milan’s money could draw them away. I hate our inactivity this transfer window; maybe it will improve come January?
I disagree about Rossi’s move to Villareal. Not the best team, especially after offloading Forlan and putting Riquelme up for sale, but La Primera is an excellent league. I can see him getting starts and playing against great Spanish opposition.

I hope so for Rossi’s sake

Gianfranco, thanks man.. If you’re concerned Milan only has one on the list, I wouldn’t worry. By the time these players blossom, I’m sure Milan will have picked up 5 of these guys! I held my breath when i heard Milan was interested in Cavani.

You can exhale, Cavani is not Brazilian.

This is almost completely irrelevant, but it relates remotely to age and Milan.
I was once reading an article about Philippe Mexes that said Milan was considering bringing him on board “to rejuvenate an aging rearguard.”
That phrase still makes me smile. Because, y’know, I thought they had surgery for that…

Btw, since when did Yoann Gourcuff become Brazilian and revert to using just the one name?
I don’t hold c4’s opinion in high regard, more so with this list. His half year with Parma was great, but I’m not nearly as high on Rossi as most people. And I also don’t get why Americans love him. Yeah, he was born stateside, but he’s admitted to wishing he wasn’t over and over and over and that he’s never considered it his “home”. He doesn’t like America, why do Americans like him?
(Btw, thanks a lot for the list Gianfranco)

Chris, I have to agree on both of your statements..
a. He’s good, no doubt, but I’d take 10 players on the list over himb. He wanted nothing to do with US Soccer (can you blame him?) I don’t understand why Americans like him so much either

Would you want anything to do with US Soccer?? They pinned their hopes on Freddy Adu while Alitodre is the more natural talent, Howard is fighting for the starting job when Keller should have been retired, Landycakes is the Captain, they took a strong squad to a tournament they know they should win GOLD CUP, and a weak one to a tournament they should have tried to at least compete in…shoud I continue. I love the USMNT but the direction is basically the blind leading the blind. I wish we had a blog but the powers that be have not answered the calls.

I wasn’t referring to US Soccer or whatever. He’s slammed United States the country.
And who can blame him?

Well my anti USMNT rant shall not be in vain.
