I give credit to the US because they played the way a team has to play when facing a quality side like Spain. But let's be honest, they played incredibly defensively (only it's called "anti-football" when Italy does it), they embellished and simulated to get Spain players booked or waste time, and they scored on only two sucker punch attempts on goal. It was a good win for them and a great defensive performance. I'm just surprised at all the admiration being given to the States. Maybe people are seeing the value in playing a compact game and defending well, and when Italy does it in the future, the insults will be at a minimum.
