Milan announced on its website that striker M'Baye Niang has suffered a capsular ligament injury to his left ankle after being involved in a serious vehicular accident over the weekend. Milan will decide on Niang's treatment within the next few days. However, speculation in Italy suggests that he will be out for approximately two months.
This is not the first time that Niang has been involved in a road incident. His previous transgressions include driving without a license, allegedly pretending to be ex-teammate Bakaye Traoré, and an 18-month suspended jail sentence for injuring 11 people after crashing his Ferrari into a tree.
Hence, it comes as no surprise that the young striker took to his official Twitter account to dispel rumours surrounding the nature of his latest accident.

Hi everyone, I wanted to tell you that my driver and I are in good health. The car aquaplaned, more frightened than hurt. Ready for the end of the season with Milan. #ForzaMilan.

To put an end to the rumours and other speculation, the only reason for this accident was the weather conditions. My girlfriend and I are doing well. My club has made a statement about my injury. I sincerely thank you for your support. Back on the pitch soon.
Niang has enjoyed his best season in the Rossoneri shirt since being recalled from a successful loan spell in Genoa. In his absence, Mario Balotelli, who is expected to become a permanent signing for Milan, will start against Alessandria in Milan's Coppa Italia match tomorrow. Jérémy Ménez could also be an option to partner with Carlos Bacca in the event that Niang is indeed out for the long haul.
