Silly Season Analysis

Well the silly season is over, finally. Overall a much better transfer campaign than we have become accustomed to but still not exactly mind blowing either.

So these are my initial thoughts on how well the transfer period has gone player by player. Hopefully I am proved wrong with the players I rate low and right with the players I rate high. Anyway it's just my opinion, and I'm sure some players will prove me wrong so please don't judge me too harshly.

ARRIVALS

AGAZZI 1/10 (Unnecessary transfer although if it means we can loan out Gabriel for regular play then fine)

ALEX 6/10 (He seems solid yes but he is also 32)

MENEZ 5/10 (Would have preferred Taarabt to arrive or give minutes to Niang or Saponara but we shall see)

LOPEZ 9/10 (The only better option would have been Perin, although I understand the need for more experience with last seasons defending)

TORRES 6/10 (Bad four years and past his best at 30 but I'm quietly optimistic)

ARMERO 8/10 (Our first left back in about 6/7 years, fast and good going forward. After a difficult year or so I feel he is going to remind us how good he can be)

VAN GINKEL 3/10 (Had we had an option to buy then yes. As it stands this is ridiculous and I don't blame Cristante for leaving)

RAMI 7/10 (Played pretty well last year and keeps Bonera from playing at centre back)

POLI 6/10 (Can be a useful player although it is time for him to really shine or be sold next year)

SAPONARA 6/10 (In all honesty not sure if he will get a chance considering he is a trequartista, should have been loaned out?)

ALBERTAZZI 6/10 (I think he can be useful and I would rather give minutes to 23 year old Albertazzi than 33 year old Bonera. Also he should be played in his natural position at centre back)

BONAVENTURA 8/10 (I've liked this guy for a number of years and think he can be great, I'm just saddened by Cristante's departure to really enjoy Bonaventura's arrival)

ARRIVALS SCORE : 6/10

DEPARTURES

AMELIA 8/10 (Never broke into 1st team)

EMMANUELSON 9/10 (Not good enough)

TRAORE 8/10 (Not good enough)

KAKA 7/10 (Need to look to the future and high wages, Forza Ricky you are a LEGEND)

COPPOLA 8/10 (Very old dead wood)

VERGARA 8/10 (Hopefully he plays well on loan)

MATRI 7/10 (I hope Torres does not become the new Matri, forget Chelsea try to remember Liverpool and Atletico)

BIRSA 8/10 (Thank you for the goals, they were wonderful but again not Milan quality)

NOCERINO 9/10 (Finally players like Cristante will be given game time... Oh wait!??!?!?!, but seriously he should play at PSG as with King Ibra he will score double digit goals again)

ROBINHO 11/10 (Finally)

PETAGNE 7/10 (Would have liked to see him play as backup to Torres and Pazzini but I suppose a loan move is good if he gets regular games)

VILA 7/10 (Never given a chance at Milan but as far as I am aware he wasn't amazing on loan so time to say ciao)

GABRIEL 10/10 (Loan to Serie B club. perfect. I hope he plays well)

SALAMON 6/10 (Not sure how good he is but in this case I trust the management)

PALOSCHI 3/10 (Overall would have been cheaper than Torres and with the potential to improve both in quality and value, bad move)

CONSTANT 7/10 (Honestly for a player who never played LB I thought he did ok despite the hatred. Although I agree Armero is a much better option)

BALOTELLI 5/10 (If Mario would have had quality playmakers he would have scored even more goals. Yes he is not world class, maybe he will be maybe not. But we made a loss on this sale within a year and a half and that's not good. Also I feel he was always better as an inside forward yet was always played as lone striker which he is not. Good luck Balotelli and thank you for the goals)

CRISTANTE -1/10 (Total idiocy. We would rather play Essien or develop other clubs players for free. Let's face it Chelsea are obviously a bigger team than us if we are acting as their feeder club. Much like we have been for PSG for a while. I am not saying he is or going to be world class but much like Pogba at Man Utd you never know unless you give youth a chance. And just like Man Utd in a year or so we may be regretting this move. Anyway good luck Cristante)

DEPARTURES SCORE : 7/10

TOTAL SCORE : 6.5/10

Well had it not been for the Cristante-Van Ginkel craziness I would be a much happier Rossonero right now. However what's done is done and I can only hope Super Pippo leads this club back to where it belongs. Playing in the later stages of the Champions League on a regular basis.

I hope all our new signings adapt quickly and play well. And with hard work and a bit of luck performances and results will be good. This will then be an ideal situation for youngsters such as Niang, Mastour, Mastalli, Saponara and others to try and break into the starting eleven and prove their quality. Overall I am happy but have a bad taste in my mouth with the Cristante deal.
