Are any of these guys useful?

So this is my third installment in this series that takes a look at the current roster of the team and passes judgement on them. I started this roughly 60 days ago, right around the time Seedorf arrived, and plan to keep it up going forward. Love, hate, whatever. All comments are welcome.

Let me start with one thing I was DEAD WRONG about. Last time I suggested IN CAPS that RESULTS DON'T MATTER THE REST OF THE WAY. Well i was wrong about that. Mostly. They matter because this is Milan in the same way they always matter at ManU, Madrid, Bayern Munich or any other big club where expectations are high. there is no patience for a rebuild. You have to reload on the fly, complications off the field and coaching changes be damned. They matter becuase no one wants to see Milan list into a 14th place finish in the hopes that next year will be better. At a place like Milan it is about now, always has been about now and always will be about now. I guess it's a little about the past when you have a glorious past like Milan does, but you get the point.

That is why this week I start with Seedorf. This is the first time I've really addressed him. At first I didn't think he had any idea what he was doing, but it was gonna take a while to figured out what cards he was dealt. 4 pretty tough losses and 6 out of 8 to be exact. In that time, he was throwing everyone out there in all sorts of different spots. He was literally throwing crap at the wall and seeing what stuck. the fans were pissed, the players looked confused, but Dorf remained pretty cool. He's won the last 4 games. Granted it wasn't against the titans of Europe, but it's still 4 in a row. That hasn't happened in over 2 years when guys like Nesta, Silva and Ibra were on the pitch. Even some guy named Seedorf. And he has done it with guys named Bonera, Constant and Mexes. Not bad. Call me crazy and nail my head to the wall, but I'm starting to like this guy.

On to the rest. I'll post 10 thoughts as usual.

1)Look, Abbiati has been nice of late, especially the last 2 games. A few weeks ago I was calling for he and Amelia to take a seat and let gabriel play the rest of the way. That would have been conceding the season. Is he worth keeping? I don't know. I suppose he is, but we gotta see a young guy come in this summer.

2) Despite the recent streak, Constant is still a goner and I think Mexes is too. Rami is the keeper of the current back 4. I think Bonera will be around next year just because he can play anywhere across the back. DeSciglio is still probably a keeper, but I think the rest can go. Zapata? Zaccardo? Anyone remember those 2? Me neither. Urby? Yuck.

3) Abate? I think he's out. I don't think Dorf trusts him in the back, especially after some BIG blunders in some BIG games. Maybe he shows something as a MF? Otherwise, thanks for the memories.

4) Despite his goal yesterday, I still hate Monty. The guy wanders all over the park, kills our shape, turns it over way too much, blah, blah, blah... you know how I feel by now.

5)I was really down on Taarabt last time. He no showed for the 2nd leg in Madrid. I HOPE I was wrong. that's really been his only poor showing since coming over. Things just HAPPEN when he's on the ball. KEEP.

6) I'm all in for NDJ and Poli.

7) Is Saponara in the witness protection program?

8)Honda.... hm... yeah well.... I don't know. Nice goal last week, but either he isn't comfortable YET, or we are using him wrong or something. He just always seems to be in the wrong place and always makes the wrong move. I'm still hopeful though.

9)PLEASE GOD LET ME SEE SES BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR! PLEASE!!!!!!! GIMME JUST ONE GAME OF HIM UP FRONT WITH BALO, TAARABT AND EITHER KAKA OR HONDA. GIMME GIMME GIMME!

10)Balo take of the week: He has been much cooler of late. Less eruptions, more mellow on the pitch. I like that. Not as much flailing around and crying to officials. Maybe he learned something after the 2nd leg of the Athleti clash. That was awful. Now if we could just get him to stay upright a little more instead of going to ground so much when he takes on defenders. Baby steps though.
