Alessandro Matri has never been a star striker, and probably never will be, but his time spent with Cagliari showed a player with true potential, potential that many people thought he would reach when he was bought by Juve. With only scoring 29 goals in 84 appearances, Ale Matri didn't really have a break out season with his time at Juventus, which saw him dispensable by coach Antonio Conte.
The ex Cagliari striker was bought by Milan this summer to replace Pazzini who underwent off-season surgery and is still recovering. Unlike Pazzini, Matri has failed to find the back of the net in his first couple of matches in the red and black. Matri has not done himself any favours by missing many easy scoring opportunities, which have left many Milanisti, including myself, wondering when his big moment will come. So as we wait for his debut goal, I can't help but think that we could have spent 12 Million Euros on a young defender named Davide Astori.
