Odds and ends to carry us through the week...
- The big news this week is Zlatan quashing reporting interest from Real Madrid, PSG, and Man City. The Big Swede will never be short of admirers, and frankly his sale would be a detriment to the team and current system. Someone needs to remind Carletto we still have a Duck he can have a cut price. Selling Zlatan and putting our eggs in the Duck's always busted basket could leave us with a mess on our hands, literally and figuratively. We talk about player importance, Zlatan is one of those players, as is Thiago Silva.
-Silva has also confirmed his stay as I mentioned this weekend, but 99% is still not enough, I won't believe it until the transfer window is over. I am sure we will have plenty of Silva discussions in the coming months, as I have few things to share, but I can't stress enough how important he is to this team. He is more crucial to our team and setup than Zlatan but the lose of both players would prove detrimental on to many levels to recover.
-Considering Milan's pressing needs, CAM, CDM and LB, and the fact that names are being bandied about and Milan not even in the discussions is disheartening. With Asamoah and Isla close to Juventus, Verratti to Inter or Juventus, Rossi to Roma, Sneijder to PSG and GIovinco unsure of his future, how is it possible that Milan isn't considering a single one??!! The player for me would be Asamoah, and if Zlatan really is on the outs why not pair Cassano with Rossi?? EIther way, it appears once again that Milan is out of touch when it comes to players and transfers. I am not asking for the World, nor am I asking for a flashy passing or creativity, we just need players with good balance for Allegri's system to fill a need and Asamoah is that guy. Allegri made no secret for his interest last season so why not pull the trigger now.
-Didac Villa wants to come back to Milan and make a mark after playing all season for Espanyol. The problem is playing all season for Espanyol who finished in 14th place with a -10 goal differentail in a soft league defensively means absolutely nothing to me. Long story short, is Villa the answer, NO. So back to the drawing board, again at LB.
-Genoa says Milan are not as close to Acerbi as the media has reported. With Nesta gone Milan really need to figure out who is going to be Silva's future partner. Mexes had a howler yesterday for France and his inconsistency is to much for me to stomach. So what happens now? I say ask Silva, it is time to give him the credit and responsibility that will lead him into the Captain's role. If it is Dede, I hope not, but buy him up! Is it Acerbi, Ogbonna or Astori, then make it happen. I don't care if we don't spend a time on the attack, let's lock down the defense and it will pay dividends.
