I would like to use Monday's for the next month or so to talk Euro 2012. Milan news is slow and of the rumor variety still so I would rather not feed the rumor monster quite yet. Not to mention we have a friendly competition going here so feel free to check it out and voice your opinion on the picks!
-Have to start the post with our buddy Cassano having a great match against Spain. He pulled the strings and watching a match like this you have to wonder what Milan would have done with his presence on the pitch all season long? A run away title? Possibly. Credit to Prandelli as well for experimenting and even more so to DDR, I am and probably have always been his biggest critic but he did a great job marshalling at the back. I think to some extent one has to question Spain's tactics to play into Italy's hands by not using a striker. While I have in the past said I would love to play with 10 DM's I think Del Bosque may have sent me back to the drawing board. Torres was a lightning rod when he came on and really challenged the 3 man backline, but he is a shadow of his former self when it comes to finishing.
-Credit to the Danes for putting in a Class performance against the Dutch. For those who dream of players like Robben, Klass Jaan can only score in weak leagues, and VdV, think again. When the going got tough, the best got worse. Van Bommel was a monster in the midfield but the lack of cohesion and true desire to work as a group will always be the Dutch's biggest downfall, and it was no different on this day.
-Is Germany really as good as advertised or is Portugal better than expected? The match did not disappoint and you couldn't argue with the scoreline, but you couldn't argue with a Portugal win either could you? Ronaldo and Nani are a handful to stop in wide areas and the group of death is now really a fight to the finish and an exciting one at that.
-Today we get to enjoy England versus France, a bit of fun for me as I have little interest in both teams other then watching them implode. Going to be a good one and would love to read people's take on this match.
Following the match against Spain, have Italy's chances for a Final improved?
