Guardiola 'knew Milan's quality'

Pep Guardiola said Barcelona "knew Milan’s quality," but criticised the notorious San Siro turf. "It’s not suited to a football match."

The Spanish tactician spoke to Italian television after the first leg of theChampions League quarter-final ended 0-0.

"We knew Milan’s quality and not scoring in the away leg is a bit damaging for us. The pitch was slippery and it was difficult to play," he said.

"It is always a pleasure to play at San Siro. It’s just a shame that this pitch is not suited to a football match. Inter and Milan both deserve a better playing surface."

Milan President Silvio Berlusconi spoke to Guardiola after the final whistle and complimented him on his style of football.

"What did we say to each other? That remains between us."
